You went all the way up there and didn’t go inside the arch? That is the most amazing part of the experience. You made me laugh when you were hiking up and hoping it was worth it. I wondered the same thing when I was hiking up and was able to answer that question for a lot of people while I was hiking back down because it is a common question on everyone’s mind while they struggle with the hike up. My suggestion to everyone is to be sure you get your few minutes inside/under the arch. That’s where the magic is! Also for people with bad knees the hike down the rock can be tough as well. But again totally worth it. 😍
Yep, well observed. People think it is a walk in the park. It is not a hard trail, but don't underestimate the heat. Lots of water. Stop if you get tired. The view will still be there. The number of people who have a good idea to miss the crowds will always be more than you think. people come from all over the world to see these wonders. Personally too many people spoil it for me. The experience of solitude in these places is far better. Take a tim to really look at the whole place. The rock art is awesome, but can be hard to see. Some small binoculars can help. Last of all, respect the place and each other. You do not need to speak so loudly to someone who is right next to you.
Man, on that hike up and back to the Arch, that Abby took off like a mountain goat! Ran off and left you...poor guy! Beautiful and well recorded video, thanks for posting it for all to see. You two are a beautiful couple and it shows in your videos.
I like your positive attitude. It was very nice of you to encourage that man on the trail. I had a similar experience climbing my first 14er. I trained for a year to get ready for it. Then when was almost to the peak and ran out of energy mostly because of the elevation. I had woman on the trail say the same thing to me. I rested got my energy back up and summited. You just got a new subscriber.
Fantastic video. I noticed you didn't video (or edited it out) the "steep part" up the dome section. We made that hike on the other end of October 2020 but in mid-afternoon. For us (both 50+ and not hikers or in shape) it was a, well, a hike. Down was as rough as up. Had plenty of water, though. I drank 2.5 liters and my better half, close to that. We're going back the end of April this year and might actually do it again. Capitol Reef and Mesa Verde are on the "to do" list for then. Thanks for the video.
I was there a month ago, I did not do that hike. But I did do several other 1 and 2 mile hikes. You guys are awesome, congrats too both of you for persevering.
I will have to make a mental note of that hike so I don't make the mistake of trying it without loads of time and water. But it is beautiful, thanks for sharing the journey.
It's lovely, the video is immersive and it becomes like being there with you. Agreed on the water, a good backpack to take it in, a pack of biscuits, some candy etc is also good stuff to take with on the journey by foot. Kind regards, Duncan, SA

You're out there living your life and experiencing things that many don't take the time to go and see. You're putting in the work, you're getting exercise and trying to maintain a life of balance. Thats all that matters. When I went hiking what was it.....almost 2mo ago at Natural Bridges and Zion, I was wiped out as well! If you aren't out hiking every day, you're going to get winded. I don't think weight has anything to do with it. Unless you're a hiker and in really good shape, its going to be a strenuous hike. Thats all I wanted to say. Love the video!! I really want to go back, I miss the desert!

We goofed up so bad when we were there. We had motorcycled to Arches. So that hike you were on, we did it in our riding boots and gear. Thank goodness we were younger then! It is an amazing view once you get there. Enjoy

That park can be seen from the road at the top. Just pull off at the turn outs and have a peak. If you're inclined,which I'd recommend. Hike down in for a close up view. The "reward " is well worth it. Keeping real. The best part of your videos!
Thanks for posting this video. My wife and I are headed out West in about a week and will be spending a couple of days at Moab to see Canyonlands and Arches. Seeing Delicate Arch has been on my list for a while. The narrow path kind of freaks me out and I'm not 100% sure I can handle the hike at that altitude but you guys give me encouragement to for sure give it a try.
Well dang , my wife had The Delicate Arch on her bucket list. Now that she is disabled she will just have to see it through the eye of the tube! Thanks for sharing y'alls travels .
The over look you can drive to see it also is pretty cool. There's flat ground access plus a trail to a higher viewpoint. For those that want to go closer to the arch but not deal with the long crowded hike, I'd recommend this area. We took a trail from the top viewpoint up even higher and got to the otherside of the arch. It was beautiful to see from there. The arch was crowded with people and where we were had a better view without the crowd. Also Adam you are right about the inside voices.. from where we were we heard the people that were right up at the arch.

You see “chroma” come and go fairly consistently. Correctable? Probably easier to replace it. Sorry that’s what you’ll be looking back on in the future. Great anyway!
One of the best things I did when I was out there, but it was a rough hike for a big out of shape guy like myself at elevation. Had to stop a bunch of times to catch my breath. I also remember being passed by someone on crutches, I was like man I’m out of shape, lol.

You guys will want to ditch the heavy hiking boots on hikes with a lot of elevation gain. Lifting the extra weight wears you out much quicker. Delicate Arch is also a great evening hike, just bring headlamps and flashlights for the hike back in the dark. You should also go see Landscape arch as it will not be around much longer, it will be a sad day when that thin ribbon breaks off.
Good PSA at the end. Bill Burke an off road training instructor got me in the habit of carrying extra water with me on multi use trails where you get hikers and bikers that just cant carry enough with them. Both Colorado and Utah have way to many ER visitors from folks that don’t hydrate properly.
Directly south of Arches (about 5 hrs) is Petrified Forest National Park. It's worth seeing also and the Petroglyphs abound. The story how the Park came to be is great if you're into geology.
Great video. I was there two weeks ago and opted not to do the hike. It was 90°+ and knew better than to try a 480-foot elevation change in that weather in at my current fitness level. Someone would have been calling 911. 🙂 I'll get in better shape and go back. Thanks for sharing!
I think you 2 do a better job of filming the actual scenery than most if not all of the ,so called,"full time" rv'ers. You capture the actual scenery , and not just the gratuitous ,and annoying ,selfie.BRAVO!
High praise on the PSA at the end of vid. More important is that Abby has used her walking stick on many of your hiking tours, especially in Colorado in the snow and ice trails. It only takes a second to lose your balance and you find yourself plummeting down the mountain as seen in a coyote & road runner cartoon........
I enjoyed Delicate Arch but did not enjoy the hike up to it much at all. If you look at the hike to Corona Arch, it's about the same length with about the same elevation gain but I found it to be a wonderful hike.
My wife and I went to Arches National Park last fall and got to the entrance at 6:45am. Virtually no one there! Early is the best time! The year before we went to Zion National Park.... walked to the entrance and the lady there asked sheepishly if 'we were over 60'? Yeah.... well you can get a lifetime 'Senior Pass'. I didn't know about it so she explained that for $10 I can buy a pass that is an eternal pass and it's good for me and anyone in my vehicle (up to 4 people). So I jumped on it and now I just show my ID and the pass.... and drive in for FREE. Good at ANY National Park. I understand they have raised the price now.
We flat landers are at a definite disadvantage out west. I live in coastal GA, our average elevation is about 18 ft above sea level. Stay tough big man.
At least you got to see something after that uphill hike. We rented a house in the Smoky Mountains in '90, wanted to go to the top of Clingmans Dome, one of the tallest peaks in the Appalachians, hiked up a very steep incline for what seemed like forever, only to find the observation tower at the top completely enshrouded in a cloud, could not see more than a few yards at best. P.S.- can't believe there's no barrier of some kind between that path and that vertical drop, caught myself saying AAAAAAAAAAH when you stuck the camera over side.
Some of the other overlooks and trails have railings but these long hikes like here, no way. You’re on your own so you better be careful and use some common sense. 👍🏻
@@garybrenner6236 I understand your concern. Some places they can put railings some they cant. The trail up and around delicate arch railings would damage the trail. If you drill into the sandstone to put a post in you give moister a place to get into the rock. When it freezes the rock cracks and falls off the side. Making the trail even narrower.

before the "climbing" eat vitamin D, B and magnesium. Im also not in athletic shape and my doctor suggested that. and sure, lots of water! boots also great.

No one is expecting complete silence or whispering, just realize that although it is not a library it is an awe-inspiring and breathtaking (literally) site that deserves respect for all to enjoy. It' not a rock concert...well there are rocks...so never mind that comment! Always honest and straight forward! Keep rolling the videos guys, I'm anxiously waiting!

Just go early and dedicate 2-3 hours for delicate arch. Bring plenty of water and rest as often as you need. It worth seeing!

There’s an overlook you can drive to to see it. We didn’t go down to it though.

I had the same thoughts about some sort of railing along the trail near the top, even more dangerous with the two way traffic!

Clingman's Dome is one of the worst places I've ever been. It sucked.

Some were gravel and dirt and some sections were concrete, on the first section before the rock climb.

why are people not talking when passing by. in the day you pass someone they tell you omg it was great or not to cloudy covid has just made everything stop. in the day the day people coming down would rest the people going up would rest and seat and talk for hours where they from where your from etc i think you upstand what i said i just venting to sorry
