Great advice! On our family wine "farm" / estate / whatever-you-call-it, we have in addition:
    -Electrician's tools & measurement kit
-Masonry/construction hand tools & measurement equipment
    -Plumber's basic hand tools
    -basic welding equipment
PLUS: Knowledge & skills to actually use all the tools, aquired by learning from Pros and practicing it with own projects. Start small, never stop, don't give up.
You basically have to become a true "jack of all trades" if You run a real homestead / farm as a living. It's a lifestyle, and IMHO a very good one!

That is very true. You have to know how to do so many things...or be willing to learn. Definitely worth it!

Thank you so much. I want to buy a farm/homestead so badly. That will be my birthday gift for myself in 2024. I was thinking of getting it this year. But just saving money more now. I can't wait to get there. I am acting like a giddy school girl, right now. Thank you, again.

Very informative list, I like the idea of a dump trailer because of its versatility as well. I would also recommend they go heavy on the hand and power tools, get into a battery line that can get you everything you need.

Thank you. My dump trailer has been one of the best tools for me on my place so far. I agree with getting a good setup of battery tools. You can cover a lot of situations with battery tools.

Well that was very informative, I do agree I wouldn’t be able to do anything with out a good tractor, and I also like how you mentioned the lawn mower separately, it’s always good to keep the finish mower separate even though you can get a finish mower for the tractors PTO as well it’s good to have a piece of equipment that is dedicated to do one thing just cut grass. It puts less hours on the tractor and less wear. You can use the tractor for much harder work. Tools I’d say are a good choice also, owning a farm or even owning a house having a good tool set that will last is always a great investment. The pocket knife is more of a personal preference in my opinion I got used to cutting and opening things up without them 😂. I’d also suggest having a good tow strap or chain always handy, especially when your in the field and you need to move around things, I always kept one in my truck, jeep, ATV, and even in my daily commuter car. You can even get away with a cheap rope from harbor freight, you can use the rope to tie things together, pull brush out of the way, secure stuff to your truck or trailer, and even use the rope in an emergency situation as well if live stock get loose. It’s cheap and always good to have around! Very cool video tho and very informative!

    Hey Glenn,
Tools for your homestead #6. Why do I get the feeling that you’re a fan of Tim “The Tool-man” Taylor, from that sitcom, “Home Improvement”?
This video has me giddy and wanting to buy ALL of the toys! …err tools, right. With cash only of course. But my issue is that I have not moved into my homestead yet and am afraid that they would disappear during my absence. Any thoughts?
After seeing #5, I’m now assuming that you meant the first equipment to get on your homestead is starting from #10 and then work your way to #1, right?

I'm a definite fan of Home Improvement! My wife and I still stream that show! 😂. The order of the tools in this video doesn't really have to do with order of importance or when to buy. Just my opinion of some of the most important things to have on the property.
If you're worried about things getting stolen, maybe you could keep small tools with you wherever you live currently. For anything larger, you could wait or find a way to secure it in your absence. Just thoughts.

Looking at making the move to a property. Do you have a full time job or make a living off your land? Reason I ask is the time to keep up with all the upkeep when already working full time.
    Cheers from Australia...

I work a full time job and live on my place. It is a good amount of work. But I couldn't be happier with moving on to my property. I have a video coming soon that talks about things you can do now to prepare to move on to your country property. Thanks for watching!

I have a Leatherman wave when I need it. I'm always carrying either a benchmade bugout, 940, and sometimes a spyderco PM 2 and 3 as my knife. Welcome to the channel!

@@OldSchoolMillennial very cool. And thank you for welcoming me to the channel. I have a John Deere multi-tool pliers knives that I carry for everyday use including a DeWalt box cutter and a Milwaukee pocket knife. You never know when you're going to need them. That's why I always keep them on me.

Most of what you listed except the dump trailer and tractor home owners have. Have fun but this really was not worthy of a video. I have a farm I purchased a couple years ago and your info isn't good at all. Used equipment in most cases is not a good investment. Better investment to buy new tractor and implements on zero interest plans purchasing tractor that will do as much as you need but not over purchase. How about my list of just a few things A tractor, front end loader with bucket and piranha tooth bar, trailer, box blade or land plane, grapple, , wood chipper and chain saw, brush hog, and perhaps a rototiller.. Not necessarily in that order. I expect anyone purchasing a homestead to have the basic tools you had listed and even a pocket knife.

You do realize that most people don’t right? Some people are doing this as a whole new lifestyle change and barely own a hammer or screwdriver let alone a chainsaw. Not everyone grew up around these things and this a good list to get them started or at least have an idea of what they’ll need.

I agree most homeowners should have tools of some sort goes with owning a house, your list of tools is formal valuable than this list that went up, as far as buying a smaller tractor to trade in within a year it’s not financially sound advice tractors are expensive they lose a lot of value just like vehicles do not buy one and trade it within a year if you have to save for another year to get the one you need do that.

What are the limiting parameters keeping you from actualizing your homesteading goals?
    -Livestock feed and bedding costs
    - inability to plant staple crops economically
    - tractor sizable enough to operate equipment necessary to meet your needs.
    * Don't you want to be Free from the constant purchasing requirments and attachment to the national and global market at large ?
*Why are you buying beans? Why are you buying hay? Why are you buying organic feeds at a markup ? Why are you buying straw ? Why are you buying rice ? Why are you buying corn? Why are you buying oats ? Why are you buying wheat ? Why?...when you could just buy an American Made piece of equipment that will fit your compact or even subcompact tractor... make a single investment on seed stock, then plant and grow your own year after year ? Let me present to you self sufficiency ...
Let me present to you the Plotters Choice from Kasco MFG.
