Fiskars makes a great post hole digger too! Their offset handles pretty much eliminate the problem you mentioned (scooping dirt out from deeper holes). They're very sturdy too.
I actually love that leatherman free! I also got it as a gift and im surprised how much I like that thing. My fave one with pliers is the skeletool. Really good knife, the carabiner is nice I love to clip it on my belt loop, super lightweight and you can choose what bits to put in it, and it has a place for an extra bit, no other leatherman with the bit holder has a spot for an extra bit. The pliers are there but honestly all leatherman pliers suck. A crappy needle nose combo plier that doesn't grip well, cut well, and the "handles" dig into your hand. A good option is the knipex mini cobras, just carry them with your leatherman free t4 and you'll be happy to have real pliers in your pocket.
Nailed it with the battery chainsaw. I bought a small Makita 18v on a whim and now use it 10x more than my Stihl saw. Would also encourage building a standardized battery powered tool set from the start. Dewalt, Milwaukee or Makita are great higher end brands but nothing wrong with Ryobi I see a lot of pro subcontractors using them and you’re not paying extra for a big name. Crazy how many tools they have on the same same battery systems these days.
We haven’t got our property as yet… however we are getting all these things you are talking about…actually we are running out of room at our current house. We bought all Fiskers… I figured that my Fisker scissors are da bomb and cannot fault them, then the tools would be the same. TO GET LIST: Wide Fork - mulch/poop picker upper. Channel lock fence pliers. Battery Powered - Chainsaw, Staple Gun. Post Hole digger…YAY, we have that👍🏼 Thank you for the tips☺️
I really appreciate this vid. It helped me figure out a basic on what we will need before we work on the piece of land we are looking for. :) Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
@@BetterTogetherLife haven't gotten it yet(it's my fault...I'm very picky for what I'm looking for. Lol), but it's definitely a goal we want to meet soon! Thank you though! And anytime! If a video is good, it deserves a response!🥰
Thank you for this very informative video. We sell land mostly in rural areas and we'll let our clients know about this before finally starting their homestead journey. 🤠
I see a lot of Americans go either ryobi or Milwaukee, in Europe and Asia makita, dewalt and Bosch professional seem to be the main go to depending on the trade
This video is so perfectly timed for us. Just starting out on 5+ acres. We are also in the Ryobi family. They are like Apple products- once you’re in they’ve got you with the batteries 🤣 They all work together!!! Love em. Thanks for this. Love that post hole digger.
I recommend you think battery systems when getting cordless. I have the Greenworks 60V system. So I only need one or two batteries and one charger and they work in other tool families like hedge trimmer. leaf blower, etc. The same goes for cordless drill, skill saws, etc. Pick a brand and battery size then later as you expand you can by "bare tool" offers, tool only with no battery saving about $100 each time.
I 100% agree with you! Which is why I have gone so deep in Ryobi. Its what I started with, and its what I have continued with I guess. Thank you so much for your awesome comment Steve and thank you for watching!!! :)
Again, if you’re just starting get the nail/staple gun. Does both wonderfully. Idk if ryobi has one but that’s the way to go. I’m like Alton brown, no single use items.
Haha, you are the first one to notice. In that shot I had messed up and bought T posts that were too short, so I couldn’t use my T post driver because it kept hitting the cattle panel. So I had to use the sledge hammer. 🤣🤣

Dewalt. Because it’s what I’ve always had and I have the chargers and batteries. But my sister in law can do everything I can with her ryobi. Big ryobi fan. Don’t down play your tools man. It does exactly what you need when you need it to.

I'm surprised a multitool with strong pliers isn't on the list. I know you briefly mention it but that is by Fer the most used tool for me. Pliers on my multitool for tying wire and my knife (boker kalashnikov with a D2 steel tanto blade)
Hi James, I am pretty sure I did say that I want a Leatherman with good pliers. I carry my small Leatherman everyday, but would love one with pliers for sure!
@@BetterTogetherLife you did. I'm just surprised it wasn't first. I bought this off brand mechanic multitool just for the pliers. Best purchase ever. I had a Gerber NXT Suspense...snapped the pliers in half fencing.
