The Thunder Birds ground crew was going thru SERE school...and during there on base..parachute training they announced to us that the T-birds be stopping by at noon! So.....tick Tock....the hour..then minutes. Everybody aware of the time..looking at There watches.. BOOM! High Noon! Nice...sonic boom! Just to let the fellas know..they were thinking about them...and a nod to the school. They were headed south....tight formation. Headed...California way! Going to California. Led Zeppelin.
Looking at a globe...you realize US Airforce Operations are over......a lot of mountain...a lot of northern hemisphere. Our Enemy’s too....are tougher in these environments. We are Tougher! We train! It’s not just Air Crews! Law enforcement. Civilian rescue and fire and even on occasion...kids come thru a museum and maybe....just maybe. Can eat a bug! But I can’t promise that. My time was 1984. Nevertheless the more things change..the more they stay the same. Primal training...not technical book learning. This is hands on..kinda down n dirty high stress management skills! The woods are neutral...may not seem like it in a blizzard..but it’s giving you water..and confidence. You’ve been through worse. Knowledge + Experiance = Wisdom(Knowing exactly what to do.). Not kinda...or maybes...or let’s have a conference...or wait till Monday....or the worst one. I don’t care...it’s not my job! Give up! Do a Paxton:”Game over man......were screwed now......Game over man”. We will have none of that!
