It has been years! I was stationed there in the 80s My God, it looks so different. I was there 10 years, miss it! I loved it. Housing is so different. They rebuilt it! Memories! Memories! They probably tore it down. I went there a SSgt and left a MSgt!!!!!
As the mom of two serving in Canadian armed forces just wanted to give a big Thank You to all the American air force personnel protecting your country. Military life is not always easy on families but this fantastic facility certainly tries to help!
My husband is a retired Marine. This video reminded me of all the bases we lived at during our twenty years. You did a great job showing all the important things a family would need to feel at home. All bases should have a "welcome video "done as well as yours.💜
We have friends that were stationed there from '95-'99. They also were active in the AWANA program in North Pole. My husband is retired Air Force as well. Our oldest is now a member of the AF. I love watching your family.
My son is stationed at Creech AFB at the moment but it so nice to see the places he could be sent as his mother. He would be in the officer homes! Thank your mom for her service!
My dad was retired Air Force and I am a proud Air Force "brat" I thoroughly enjoyed this video. It brought back so many memories of my wonderful childhood growing up all over the world. I Didn't realize it then but I do now how incredibly blessed I've been. ❤
Our dad was a Navy Protestant chaplain & we worshiped at the chapels at every base. I ended up calling us "Chapelineans" since there were sometimes several chaplains assigned there and you might have a Baptist chaplain (Dad) or a Methodist or Presbyterian chaplain preaching. We also had a Catholic chaplain at most of the chapels. When our dad was assigned to a ship, we would attend services on board the ships when they were home port. Thanks for the tour of the homes, temporary housing, etc and the childcare. Growing up and also as a newlywed, I was familiar with all of the things you pointed out. I am glad to see that they have expanded what they offer at the base. They are like a total city within the gates of the base. Thanks for taking the time to show everyone what it is like.
My cousin and his wife and kids live in North Pole. He's retired Air Force and was stationed at Eielson for many years. It was so neat to see where he has lived and worked for so long. Thank you!
I’m former Air Force, of course trained at Lackland AFB, Texas, then School training at Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, Texas, then Kadena AB, Okinawa 3 years, then finally Charleston AFB, SC then out
What a wonderful tribute to our military! I was a Navy kid and we only lived on Base once but it was an unforgettable experience. Unfortunately, it was during the Vietnam War and a time when many people were anti-military. Thankfully, times have changed and our men and women in the Armed Forces are getting the respect that they have always deserved! The ending of your vlog brought tears to my eyes. Jess, you produced a beautiful program that will be so useful to military families coming to Alaska! Thank you for an outstanding job!
Thank you, so much. PCSing to Eielson AFB this summer are our son-in-law, daughter, and their two home schooled children (10 and 6) and all are super excited. My wife's family was at Eielson when she was a little girl when Alaska was still a Territory. We can't wait to visit.
That was an awesome video! My husband and I were both in the Air Force, and stationed at Eielson in the late 80's early 90's. We actually met on base, and where married at the old Chapel 30 yrs ago this year. We lived off base in North Pole. It was amazing to see how much has changed over the years, and I thank you for that because of your vlog!! We are hoping to come back and visit next year.
This was awsome. Being a retired Air Force wife it brought back alot of happy memories. That young lady that showed you inside her house was so cute and looked like she was 10 years old. Lol. You rock Jessica. Thanks again.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 wish I could give many more 👍 cus this was OUTSTANDING. YEP I lived on Post for years so am glad to see such improvements in housing. Best experience of my life 👏👏. Fantastic thing you doing for your area of Alaska......chamber of commerce worthy. 😘😘. This is perfect example why your channel is soooo SPECIAL and why I AM part of the “Happy People” following you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Look at you - you little news reporter- you did so great with this video and the placement of the music. I know this has to be huge help to new families or service men headed to Alaska. Our base here in Brunswick Maine, was closed and I honestly miss it.
Air Force needs to use this video for every person coming to that area. You did a fantastic job and as a former military member this video would help so many families and single Airmen out.Great job!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this awesome, extremely informative video tour of Eielson AFB. I literally just found out today that I will PCS to this base as a follow-on assignment in September of 2020 after my tour in Korea. Being from the South, my family and I wasn't sure what to expect, but we are now super excited after watching this video. Thanks again and God Bless!
Happy Somers I truly looooved this video! Fantastic Air Base! I was trained at an Air Force Hospital over seas and the Air Force will always have a special place in my heart! Thank you for the video!!!! God bless you guys!! PS:I'm thrilled the comments are baaaack!!!♡♥♡♥♡♥
Great tour Jessica. I love seeing the amenities available on Base for our military personnel and their families. In the Florida Panhandle, where I'm from, there were 5 military bases when I was a kid. My maternal grandmother's husband (my step-granddad) was stationed at Eglin AFB as his final duty station. When I was a kid, my Dad's job with the Florida Department of Transportation transferred us to Milton, Florida, where there was a Navy Base where servicemen and women were stationed for 6 to 12 months as they were taught how to fly. The Navy Blue Angels home base is in Pensacola, Florida. My youngest sister's husband was in the Air Force when they were first married. They lived on Base and I was always so appreciative of the safety provided there for my "baby sister," especially when they were stationed at Minot AFB in Minot, North Dakota. The Base was the last stop before reaching the Canadian border approximately 25 north of the Base. For all these reasons, besides being an American citizen, I have great respect for and pride in our Military. Thank you for sharing and thank you to your parents for serving.
Love to see how much base has changed since we left in 2013. We lived in one of the newer houses and I loved it. The gym was amazing. I spent many hours there while training for the Equinox Marathon. I miss the base and surrounding area so very much. Thank You again for the tour!!!
Jess you did a GREAT JOB on showing of the Base, it AWESOME🤗 so glad they have a BEAUTIFUL place to come too. We are a MILITARY FAMILY RETIRE as well,it's so nice to know families are going to be WELL TAKEN CARE OF💞🤗 ALASKA is BEAUTIFUL,,I just think your Vlog are just WONDERFUL it's so cool we get to go along with you @ your family💞💞💞💞. GOD BLESS THE MEN @ WOMEN @ THEIR FAMILY FOR ALL THEY DO💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
My parents moved to the North Pole in '79, my father AF retired shortly thereafter. My parents built a home on Broadway Road, in fact. :) (Off base.) Watching this was fantastic - I love how patriotic your family is.
Such a wonderful video!! An amazing facility for our brave and families. Loved"America " playing in the background! As with your beautiful " Star Spangled Banner " you sang, I had a lump in my throat and tears. May God bless America!! God's blessings to your family!!
Wow, that brought back so many memories. As far west as we ever got to was Mtn. Home AFB in Idaho....there wasn't much around there at the time. It was pretty dull. lol It's nice to see so many more options for families up there at least. It's been 20+ years since I've stepped on a base. When I seen the Exchange, I said "There's the Bx." :) Anyway, thank you for sharing this video with us and with those will be moving there for one reason or another. Take care!
Thanks for the tour. The base reminded me of the army base my brother-in-law was stationed at in the late '80s. The on-base housing was beautiful there as well, a home to be proud of while serving. Thank you for celebrating our troops for their service with a look into their life.
Thank you, Thank you for sharing one of our fantastic bases. I love to see how our military and their families are taken care of, its the least we can do for dedicating their lives for our Freedom. I was raised Army, my brother was also a lifer, my Uncle were Navy one even on the USS California in Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, 1941. He survived but badly burned in the oil in the water.
Bless you Jessica for this wonderful exposure. I personally would move there in a heartbeat. The facilities are absolutely amazing. Greetings from South Africa
As a USAF veteran , I thank you for this presentation.. Been to that base, on a job(tdy) n spent 4 weeks there.. Didn't get to tour it, just fix n upgrade their com gear! Thanks for sharing! ATB from sunny Wintergarden,Florida👍🌴😎🌴👍!
I loved this video and the music. Thank you military personnel for your service and protecting us from our enemies. My granddaughters husband is in the Marines at Camp LeJeune North Carolina. He is on a 6-month deployment right now.
We were looking forward to this video!! After we saw the footage on instagram, I couldnt wait for you to post it!!! Thank you for filming at Eielson!! What a gift you gave us!! A fun trivia fact!! As you panned over the Portraits of Distinguished Military Personnel, The very first picture is of Dr. Heather Wilson, Current Secretary of the Air Force!! She has applied and is the Sole Choice in the running to replace Dr. Diana Natalicio, The University of Texas El Paso (UTEP) Current President who is retiring after 30 years this year!! Just thought to share that with you!!! The Air Force Base is a beautiful place and I'm glad you had this blessing of an opportunity to be there!! We have been to Air Shows in our city at US Army Base Fort Bliss. We are honored to meet so many wonderful soldiers and their families!! Love and Hugs to All!! Pamela
Coming from a Canadian Military family I really enjoyed this vlog the most. Thanks so much for taking us along to Eielson AFB. I hope all is well with you & your beautiful family. Thanks for airing, see ya in the next one!
Thanks for sharing this amazing experience with all of us. I certainly appreciate all of those people who have served our country and certainly those who currently serve.
thx for the tour SO much has changed since I was stationed there 1977/1978 I worked in the ATC tower and lived on Badger Road in North Pole:) Good Times!
Thank your dad and mom for their service. As a daughter of a Marine Veteran it's nice to see that base housing has come along way from the apartments and duplexes of my childhood on bases.
Grew up Navy next to an Air Force Base. That BX is way nicer than the one we shopped at in the 1970's. 🤪🤣 what a great tour. The amenities on base now are fantastic for families. 👍
Okay, you made me cry... I was so wishing that I had made different choices about 45 years ago... but, this Air Force base is top notch... thank you for the tour and you did good, especially the last with America playing, oh mercy!!
What an honor for you and your family to visit the military base in your area. May God bless our military people. May we never forget the men and women who serve in the military, and the ones who have put there life on the line for our freedom.
Thank you for showing us around Eielson AFB. My son in law and daughter live on Nellis AFB. This is their first duty station. We are in West Virginia and they are out in Las Vegas. We flew out and visited them last June. I was very impressed with their housing and their base. Wish they'd had something like this to watch about Nellis since it was a big move out west for them.
Thanks for posting this. I’ll be stationed there in a couple of months and this is one of the only videos I could find about this place. Looking forward to it!

Dear Somers Family THANK YOU for this wonderful video. When I was in Fairbanks/North Pole, Alaska two years ago I passed the turn off sign to that air base. I have met many people with connections to it. I had wondered as to its size and scope. Those have all been answered now. Your videos are totally awesome. Side note: just today I learned there is a Somers, Montana. It is on the way from Missoula, Montana to Kalispell, Montana. Check it out if you like.
Lovely vlog!!! Thanks so much for giving us an inside look at all this....for me coming out from the mennonite/non-resistant group i really had no clue....but this was a big eye opener and im so glad you shared. God bless yall and God bless the men and women who serve our country!!!😇🇺🇲🙏
Hi thank you that was so interesting and informative ! We can see how passionate you are for the military ! You must be proud of your mother and father!
Thank you so much for this informative video! It was awesome, didn't know anything about on base living. I'm sure this is one of the nicest bases to live on. Our military surely deserves the best!!!
Wow my friend was in the Air Force and he and wife and two kids were stationed at Barkdale SAC Air Force Base at Shrieveport, LA and at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs,CO. I visited both places and stayed their briefly.
Loved seeing the flash of the rock wall at the gym. Definitely something y'all should try. Im sure there are some Climbing gyms near you. Its a fun full body exercise fit for the whole family.

BAH for the non-military subs stands for “basic allowance for housing”...a stipend if you live off base to help pay for your rent
My uncle's served in the navy during WWII my one uncle was on the USS PENNSYLVANIA. My father was in the army during the Korean war. And recently my nephew was a SP in the navy. Assigned to Cuba. He is out now. I never served, but wish I did now. No airmen in my family that I'm aware of. This was a great look at our line of defense in Alaska.

This is a whole town. I would never leave the base. Loved it
Great informative video Jessica!!! How cool that must've been to be so up close & personal to some of the jets. Thanks for sharing!!!
Loved seeing the flash of the rock wall at the gym. Definitely something y'all should try. Im sure there are some Climbing gyms near you. Its a fun full body exercise fit for the whole family.
Wow! That air force base is nice! They have lots of things to do. It is much nicer then the old air force base down here.
