A lot of people hated this movie. I personally thought it wasn't THAT bad and after rewatching it, I liked it more.
The Problems were that it had too many characters and ikaris being the twist villian

The character Dane Whitman has a heroic identity of The Black Knight. His family has a cursed magical sword and he can summon a flying nightmare of a horse. His costume is a suit of armor. So another magic hero. How he's connected to Blade... well, that might get to spoilers, but that should give you enough to start imagining what they might do together.
@@djcowell91 As an additional fact, the sword which is called The Ebony Blade is referenced in the video game The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim in which it has a similar function in that it speaks through whispers to the protagonist

I love how the names were related to legends: Gilgamesh was a Sumerian warrior king, Thena is Greek war goddess Athena, Phastos is Hephaestus the inventor, Ikaris is Icarus who flew too close to the sun, Druig is like a druid wizard, Makkari is like Mercury the messenger god, Sersi is like Circe the Greek goddess who transformed things, Ajak is Ajax the Greek warrior, Kingu is a minor God without much power, and Sprite is a refreshing beverage (also a pixie with powers)

What I always wonder about this movie: Was is strange for Robb Stark and Jon Snow to both play characters who are in love with a woman whose name is quite similar to that of a certain other woman?

This is one of those movies that really benefits from having some time away and having a rewatch. I liked it much better then!
There are layers you can see in the acting when you know later events. Like Ikaris's expression when he first sees a deviant regenerate
Nowhere near the MCU’s best but I think it’s a lot better than it gets credit for. Several of the performances were pretty good (Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry, Don Lee, etc.), I really liked its take on Makkari‘s super speed, and the cinematography was gorgeous (the shot of the Celestial looking over London might be one of my favorite shots in a Marvel film to date). I’m curious to see how we’ll see the Eternals and both Dane and Blade moving forward
I suspect the problem is the format. In hindsight this probably should have gone the Loki, Wandavision, etc. route. Spacing it out, giving people time to think and speculate, and just having better stopping points rather then trying to do it all in one go probably would have helped the story. The problem with going that way is it would have been a tough sell. That many unknown characters without the connections most of the other series had? Requiring that much budget and time? I can't blame anyone for not making that call.
Barry koeghan or however you say his name and the girl who played makkari was my fav even tho they had little screen time IMO they focused on the wrong characters

IDC what no one say this movie was good asf in my opinion and the voice in the end credits was Mahershala Ali who is going to play Blade in the MCU, you also should watch the Blade trilogy

@@schmeegie2006 I did enjoy the uniqueness of there not really being a villain and there also being a real family dynamic, something that the avengers tried but I think failed at.
Some of the dialogue could use work, but overall I enjoyed the plot.

Post credit scene: Dane Whitman is the super hero known as the Black Knight (due to that sword). The voice that spoke to him was Blade. The MCU has a dark side to the world - werewolves, vampires, demons, Ghost Rider, etc, that hasn't been seen except in the Dr Strange movies. In the comics, Dr Strange forms a group of heroes from the darker side of Marvel to fight those baddies (similar to the Avengers fighting aliens and super villains). I suspect Blade and Black Knight will be members of the MCU version of The Midnight Suns.
A lot of people disliked this movie for maybe lack of action or not properly introducing a whole new team but I loved it. I think they did a bang on job for an introduction movie of 10 new characters. The aesthetics and the fight choreography was brilliant in this. This is one of my favourite introduction movies from Marvel.

No he wasn't an eternal, he was a normal person but with deviant gene
Yes, he was an Eternal that possessed the Deviant gene. Thanos' father was an Eternal on Earth. At some point in Earth's past, the Eternals had a civil war and as an agreement to end that war, his father left Earth to found the Eternal colony on Titan where Thanos was eventually born.

Rewatching this movie with you gave me so much emotions? And brought me back to when I was in the theater watching it. I wasn't expecting all the good emotions already attached to that movie, sometimes how you experience a movie also depends of your mood/what's going on in your life ay the same time. I guess I was in a good place then? Because I remembered how much I got into the story.
They had a hard time putting all the lore and characters into the story, but in the end they still did a pretty good job to me.
While Rewatching it with you I thought that I did, in fact, really enjoyed that movie. It's so different from the rest (do we always say that?) lol. And it gives some much needed deepening of the Marvel Universe lore, almost making it a Marvel-themed epic fantasy. It builds up what was already hinted at, and give more depth and grandeur to it.
Yeah, I really like it.
There's only a few story points and scenes I would've changed personally.
Also the designs are beautiful, the soundtrack is a bop, not equalled until Moon Knight, and the aftercredits are the best of Phase 4 I think.
And the whole movie + aftercredit seem to point to a definite direction, to something very big. Unlike, say, Multiverse of Madness that we all thought would do that but didn't.

The movie that proved Thanos was right and a hero. The snap prevented the birth of the celestial. So by killing half of all life actually saved every world from being destroyed by a celestial birth. 😂😂
Yep, but that doesn't imply that the birth of a Celestial is inherently a bad thing, they are the ones who help in the creation of more suns, planets and galaxies, it just fells like a bad thing for us as humans because we come to be affected by the process, but a celestial is beyond any good or bad, which are merely human concepts.

1:01:30 pretty sure tons of people told you in the comments by now but Dane Witman, the boyfriend of Cersei and the guy in the 2nd aftercredit, is another superhero. He's a British one linked to the legends of Arthur I think (most probably they always link to all mythos) ? And he's actually pretty intriguing as a superhero concept, even though I haven't seen much of him in the comics. The sword he was so nervous to take is a magic sword that thirst for blood. The sword can do all sorts of neat magic stuff like mjolnir, but it also 'demands blood'. The sword can be used for good, but you can see how easily someone's mind can be controlled by the magic sword to become a villain. The sword gas been passed down through generations in his family, and there's almost as much chance for the person wielding it to become a villain or a hero. Thus why he was so nervous/afraid of it.
Also why the voice said 'are you sure you're ready for it Mr Witman?'
There's a line early in the movie where Dane said he wasn't in speaking terms with his uncle, that's because the previous wielder of the sword was his uncle who was a villain.
Talking about the voice, it was the voice of Mahershala Ali, who was already cast as Blade. So it was Blade saying that line. Blade is a vampire vampire hunter. The MCU is just going all in with the rest of its lore they were yet to introduce (looking at Werewolf by night too >>.>>)
These aftercredits were really neat and hinting to so much more coming into the MCU, although by the time they finally get their movies...people will have forgotten about these aftercredits x"D

Biggest trope in life is getting a puppy as a precursor to having kids. Women get pups cause they want to see how the guy is with it before having said kids.
I kind of understand why people hate the movie, but frankly, I loved it. Sure it was a bit long and overstuffed, but it did what it wanted to do and was very different from the usual. Sometimes that's refreshing. Plus the cast was delightful, great chemistry all around. I very much look forward to seeing them again. Especially Dane. Man's basically saw god abduct his girlfriend and said, "Imma grab my family's VERY EVIL sword and go stab that big red bitch". That's love, right there.

When I saw this movie in theaters, it was very different from what I expected it to be. I was hoping it to be a little bit like Avengers 1 but with the 10 main characters already assembled through the beginning, more answers as to where they were during the Snap and Blip and their reactions to the many times the Earth was under threat, and more of each character's personal backstory. It was a little underwhelming but it's not that bad, I still enjoyed it, especially the performances of Gemma Chan as Sersi, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, and Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo. If and when Marvel decides to make a sequel, hopefully they can elevate the storyline above the first one, and hopefully the Eternals will essentially become what the Guardians of the Galaxy were in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame to the story.

I enjoyed this movie. It was a lot to take in as there were so many characters but overal I enjoyed it. I look forward to diving more into the characters. I did want a lil more from Angelina's character though.

One, I need a Newton spinoff channel. Two, Kit Harington's character is Dane Whitman, who, in the comics, becomes the Black Knight. He's part of a long line of ancestors who each take up the Black Knight mantle. The sword is the Ebony Blade, which is incredibly powerful and has a number of magical abilities. However, due to all the blood it's spilled, it now carries a curse and it craves blood. The negative curse affects its wielders in different ways the longer they use it - but it's never good. Hence "Death is my reward."

If I was writing this movie I’d send at least Cersi and Kingo off to meet Ant Man and ask if they could use his Pym particles to shrink Tiumute down small enough he could come out a volcano without destroying the planet. Also I’d have the fact he grew and absorbed so much mental energy from humans on earth that he comes to care about them so in fact he agreed with Cersi in order to save the planet. Then when he’s out in space far enough away from earth they help Tiamute grow back to normal planet size self which in the future he could return and help fight for the people of earth
I loved this mivie seen it a few times now don't know why everyone hates it. The two post credit scenes are explianed like this Starfox is indeed Thanos's brother and he is an Eternal himself but Thanos was infused with diviant d.n.a as well hence he looked the way he does. The second ending was Dane with the Ebany sword not sure I spelled that correctly but any way it's basically a sword that gives it's user the power to become the black knight but everytime the person kills with it they loose apart of themselves and become evil. That is what happened to his uncle and the reason why Dane doesn't want anything to do with him anymore. The voice in the background was Blade, the half human and half vampire who was originally played by Westly Snipes and is now being played by mahershala ali.

I loved Eternals! I know some people think that the MCU is all over the place right now. Black Panther 2 is the end to phase 4 . In phase 5 I think we are going to start to see how all of this fits together.
