    It's a great method. I've done this many times as well. When I do this, I figured go heavy over the grout lines and make sure there's plenty of excess sealer on tiles around the grout lines; basically over apply the sealer to grout lines so that there's plenty on the tiles. And then use microfiber towels and wipe the excess evenly over the tiles so that they're consistently wet. And then make sure you have plenty of dry towels like a 10-pack and so long as u wipe the tiles dry, there won't be a haze on the tiles. If u do this, u will have sealed your tiles along with you're grout. A must for marble and other porous tiles. Thanks for the awesome quick video.
    To clarify: 10-pack of microfiber towels ("12x12" approx) is plenty for any regular size bathroom floor.

    Thank you for this video! Had a cleaning guy quote me almost $900 to clean and seal less than 600 sq feet of tile. I would have let him go ahead and do it but he wasn’t willing to assure me he was going to protect my newly painted kitchen cabinets nor carpet. I watched this video and others and over 2 days (taking breaks etc…) I did it myself without any damage to my cabinets or carpet. Total cost about $150 bc I put 2 good coats on the entire floor and the water beads up as promised when I spill water on the tile. No absorption into the grout and gives me time to wipe it up! (FYI- Zep Grout cleaner is amazing!!)

    So I had a professional group come and build a tile shower for us thinking that it would look better than had we tackled the project. Not so much. The sub contractor just destroyed the project. So the company I had contracted with nicely came and tried to fix the uneven tiles and poorly grouted areas. When they went to mix and apply the same grout (black) to the areas they worked on, it was obviously mixed differently. The first guy's grout came out kind of a dry, flat gray. The guy who fixed it all, must have mixed it correctly, as it looks black, as intended. Here's the question to the long-winded story.... if I were to seal the grout, would it potentially stabilize the two colors of grout? The grayish original stuff looks great when it's wet... black. But goes back to gray when it dries. I'm trying to come up with a way to get the two variations to both be a nice dark black. Any ideas?

    • @TheEclecticHandyman
      @TheEclecticHandyman  2 роки тому +1

      Hello sorry to hear about the troubles with the floor. The grout sealer dries clear/transparent and does not add a wet look or impact the grout color. This is actually desired, because if it did modify the grout it would be hard to know the final color. While sealing the grout is needed to prevent future changes in grout color from dirt, etc. it's not intended to impact the original color. Hope this helps.

    • @MAGAMAN
      @MAGAMAN 2 роки тому +1

      It's not about mixing the grout. There is always a variation between the batched of grout that were made at the factory and it's possible the installer used a different color or brand of grout. They always recommend that you mix multiple backs of grout together to get an even look if you are using more than one bag. The correct way tot do this would have been to remove the old grout and replace it all with the same batch.

      I had the same issue with my tile in the bathroom. The grout in some spots is grayish and other spots almost black. I decided to get a grout pen from Amazon dark grey and try that so it looks the same all over.

      I try to do as much as I possibly can for exactly this reason . There are shocking tradesmen out there who will do quick jobs and not look at long term problems associated with a quick job . By the time any issues show they are long gone and they know it . I recently did a bathroom myself , totally gutted it and relined walls , put knew ceiling in , tiled a new floor , installed new toilet , vanity , shower , re plumbed hot and cold water , new ceiling extractor fan and painted etc . I saved literally thousands of dollars and in all honestly it came up better than a bathroom that was professionally done at my previous address . The only thing I got a professional for was anything electrical . Be careful who you hire because we live in a world where people want quick and easy money .

      @@B-ch6uk easier isn't better. The tile won't absorb anything, so you'll end up with an uneven film there. Better to focus on the absorbent part of the floor, which is a very small area

      My tile isn't porous as is with ceramic or porcelain tiles so no need to seal the tile itself. If you have a tile of type like granite or slate then you might want to seal it.

    You mistook the process.
    First you need to shake the tile grout sealer bottle.and put the tape between tile grout line for avoiding sealer out of line.

      What is your time worth to you? Depending on size of your room/amount of tile, grout sealer will keep your grout lines clean so you don't spend hours on your hands and knees, scrubbing grout lines. That grout sealer goes a long way--will probably last for years if you store it correctly.
