Hi, Tommy from Steam here. Your commentary is great, very interesting. Audio could be slightly better, but apart from this, the video is great. Cheers.
Thanks for checking in Tommy, Yeah I wasn't pleased with the Audio also. I bought a mic just for this a Hypercast Duo X something or other that had great reviews, but the sound is not ideal, it's a plug in play mic, I have a sound box with a cardioid but it's a clip on mic and sometimes when you brush it it creates bad feedback, but I will see what I can find that works, or tinker with the settings. Thanks for checking in! Really appreciate the commentary feedback also, glad it seemed useful. In future recordings I am already thinking about how I can better verbalize key strats and their seeding into the gameplay timeline.
Congrats on the win and your first gameplay video! Always interesting to hear why decisions are being made. Some pointers: 14:30 Forest on river is the best place to put a lumbermill, I wouldn't recommend clear cutting here. These tiles are best saved for later where possible. 18:10 Stone Boost would have helped your early economy out a lot here, giving you much needed resources to either build with or sell when you need money for events 21:55 Hatti can cut trees with any unit, they may have had a scout there chopping that would have remained hidden if they moved it to another Tree tile after chopping 24:10 You can cut the Trees on the Game tile here and still build the Camp, you don't need to move to another tile to cut. 45:30 The candidate you end up choosing is also an Oligarch which is another reason to pick them - Council jobs give +40 opinion to the character, which translates directly to family opinion when the character is the family head 1:42:20 Hold Alt with unit selected and hover over a foreign unit you are not at war with to preview damage, very helpful with no undo enabled.
Did not realize this on river by lumbermill. I will try to remember and mention it in other playthroughs. Thank you for the tip. On the Stone Boost, I went with this in my next playthroughs. I guess I wanted to aim for tech improvements, but the stone also leads to tech improvements through building constructions etc. I wish the game recommended the stone rather than the tech, but what can you do right? Yes I love this feature of Hatti. Good idea on the camp wood cut. Lucked out with the Oligarch. Really good tip on the Holding Alt, was unaware. Although sometimes I want to see what kind of damage it can do from different tiles like hilltop for horse, or certain units gaining benefits from being in trees, hills, etc. But still a good rough estimate.
Nice first episode. Looking forward to the next ones. Also: "for real, last turn now" ( 1:09:19 ) Episode ends 1 hour later 😂 such a classic! Using the radial menu you can set markers on the map for improvements to be built. When such a marker is set, and an event triggers the free construction of that particular improvement, it will be built on the tile you marked. Works also for the garrison for the first city.
Thank you so much and 😂😂😂 You know how it is lol. Classic for real. This game is hard to put down at times cause you want to have your plans in order for the most part worried you will forget key objectives that you loosely planned out, like am I going to get that Wonder/city etc.? I feel absolutely foolish but I don't understand the radial menu at all, never used it. I will need to watch a video or demonstration of it, and will use it in the next playthrough. Thanks for the tip!
