Hi Lou.
God, it was so nice to see this video about a 1965 Acadian Beaumont Sport Deluxe. I can see that you guys were in the US at the time of the video. I live in Chile and I'm the proud owner of a 1965 Acadian Beaumont Sport Deluxe too!!!
I'm so glad that you posted this video, 'cause Acadians seem to be pretty unknown in the States. We, here in Chile, know them pretty well and here's a comment about something Joe Lizon said: they were not only built in Canada! L79's were built only in Canada but the ONLY factory outside of Canada was located in Chile and Acadians were produced from 1964 to 1972 down here too.
THE! difference from the canadian Acadians to chileans, was that the trunk and hood were not sheetmetal but fiberglass on the cars that were built by the chilean factory. There was also no V8-option built although every single piece (except for trunk and hood) came from Canada. So the only engine configuration available from the chilean factory in Arica (city) were L6 engines. You could choose from 194 ci to 250 ci engines; you could even get Powerglide transmissions or manual transmissions (both steering-column-mounted).
I'd like to stay in touch and PLEASE... "spread the word" lol.
Best regards from Santiago de Chile,
Claudio

Thanks,
Claudio
Claudio Vasquez Hi Claudio, I have e-mailed Joe and shared your interest and e-mail. My best to you,

I didn't know that, awesome from Canada.
I have a soft spot for the Canadian market specials (Acadian, Parisienne, Meteor, Beaumont). And yes I’m Canadian. Thanks Lou!!

I thought the Chevelle Super Sport L79 was rare...this car is even rarer! I can't even imagine what its value would be. Gorgeous Regal Red car!

This car was beautiful. Even under the hood it was immaculate. I may be too critical. There could have been time constraints that didn't allow you to do as in depth coverage as you might have liked. As always Lou you do great video coverage of the cars. Beyond that I am seeing really cool cars on your site that I otherwise wouldn't see. For that i am eternally grateful.
Hi Bill, High praise for the looks of this car :-) When at a live car show, you're right, there are time constraints that I don't have when I'm at someone's home or garage. Lou
My dream car.
Hi maritimer Man, Glad to read this one is a dream car for you :-) Lou
So cool. Canadian low rider lol!
:-)
Unusually interesting, Thanks.... particularly with that 350 Horse/327..........ps , I would presume to think many nice Car Stories Of Canadian vintages, specials, Dealer installed, etc......
Hi Opera, Glad we both enjoy the uniqueness of this car :-) Thank you for viewing, commenting, and you're welcome, Lou
Even though the GM A-Body platform was the Chevrolet Chevelle/Malibu, Pontiac LeMans/Tempest, Buick Skylark/Special and Oldsmobile Cutlass/Cutlass Supreme, this Acadian Beaumont model is based off the Chevrolet Chevelle, not Pontiac Tempest/GTO. Acadian Beaumonts were built by General Motors of Canada and sold at Pontiac dealerships in Canada, Chile, and Puerto Rico. Acadian was a standalone marque, but it was phased out in 1970 in favor of other GM A-Body models

Hi StudioATPhoto, Happy to read you have a cool car too. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Excellent my buddy had a 64, 4 door, 6 cylinder but all looks so familiar. We were 16 at the time now I'm 65.
Hi Tom, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Buddy's car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
@@loucostabile Thanks for the reply Lou for that I subscribed. Besides I loved my 66 Beaumont, I did kind of butcher it by changing the 283 with the power glide to a 350 4 speed munchie. Even found factory track bars in the Carolinas. lol Sold it to a body guy 20 years ago and it was from Alberta so rust free. I would still have it if it wasn't for divorce and back surgery. There is quite a few around Toronto area that I have seen at shows.
@@loucostabile I have a question for you Lou. Are you aware of the Carrington event that crippled the telegraph in 1859? The way I understand the effects are our cars would not work after a similar event. Not much electronics in old cars. Would a set of wires and points after such an event make one of the old cars operational?
Lovely looking car. Not being from Canada, I regret that I've never seen an Acadian, much less a Beaumont.
Hi Jason Carpp, It's a car you don't see often, so it was fun to video and share :-) Hope you see many more cars on the Channel you'll enjoy, Lou
I agree. I guess I'll have to subscribe to this channel before I can do that, eh? :)
Hi Jason Carpp, You can Subscribe to be aware of the new videos I post, but for past videos, when on UA-cam, type into the search "My Car Story with Lou" and you can see all of them. Hope that helps, Lou
Thanks. I'll check them out. I just subscribed. I look forward to them.
Thank you for Subscribing and welcome to the Channel, Lou
NICE
Glad you enjoyed this one.
Nice car Lou. Interesting story behind this car. Looks similar to a chevelle or a GTO.
Hi Joseph Romano, Glad you enjoy this unique car and the story with it :-) Lou
Very nice indeed. I like the grille more than a chevelle but not the tail lights. A friend of mine had that engine in a new 66 Nova SS and the way it ran I think GM under rated the horsepower. He put a set of Micky Thompson slicks on it and it would lift the left front tire of the ground when he launched it. I think he shifted at 7500-7800 rpm's. One awesome engine! I don't remember anyone referring to it as a L79 @ the time just a 327/350. He ran it hard for two years and it stayed together with no problems, then along came a baby and had to get rid of it for the safety of the kid because he just couldn't stay out of it. You had to be able to shift really good because it revved so quick. One of the fastest, strait from the factory cars I was ever around.
Hi ps3613t
, Happy to read you enjoy this car, and thanks for sharing the details you enjoy :-) Lou
Wow!!!!!!!!
Glad you enjoy this one and shared a "Wow!!!!!!!" :-) Hope you see many more cars on the Channel you'll enjoy.
I like the way that one looks better than the Malibu Chevelle from the front end.🤔nice
Glad you enjoy this one :-)
Cool car---I had one of these myself when I was a young guy in Parksville, BC. It was dark blue with blue interior but exactly the same car as this red one---327 cu in---350 hp. Ordered it from a dealer in Vancouver. Drove it for about 3 years then got married and needed room for a baby seat and buggy---lol. Sold it to a young kid in Parksville and then moved away and lost track of the car.
If anyone knows how I can contact this Joe Lizon fella could you please let me know by this website---thanks---Garry Worth
Hi Garry Worth, Glad you like this one :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing, and adding to the story with the details from your car. Send me your e-mail and I can forward to Joe, Lou
Hey there, I was just wondering if anyone could possibly shine some light on my question- last summer I had bought a 1965 Acadian Beaumont Sport Deluxe. Being that the car bears all the trim of a SD and of course myself providing a long, painful and excruciating (if I say myself) background check on the cars previous owners and original dealer, I can strongly verify that the car is in fact a 1965 Acadian Beaumont Sport Deluxe! Though this is where my question comes into play.. Because the owner before me had "customized" the car to a point that it will no longer categorize as an 'original' but instead a 'HotRod', what would the car be worth on an Avg. market base?
Hi Austin,
First I'd like to say, thanks for viewing and sharing your question. I do not have knowledge regarding prices cars sell for. Maybe one of the Viewers can help you with your question. Take care and enjoy your unique car!
Lou
Come on Lou. That was an amazing console and stick shift with the "proper number of pedals". You need to as k the question is it a Muncie. Also the owners car is loaded. PLEASE ask him what options were included in a 65 loaded Acadia.
Hi Bill, There are MANY questions I should ask, however the video usually contains the questions I do ask. And this comment section is for questions you can think of too. Usually I'm so fascinated with the car I'm lucky I remember any questions :-) Lou
Yes, that console is identical to the one they put in the Chevelle Malibu Super Sport...
I own the 65 L79 convertible sport deluxe

I had no idea when I purchased this car that it my be only L79 convertible in existence I just like it because it was different would love to talk to Joe Sometime
Lou---I had the same car only in blue---L79---bought it new in 1965--sold it in 1968 to a young fella in Parksville, BC---I'm wondering if the hardtop in BC might be my old car---do you have more info on it---I'd like to talk to whoever owns it---wish I still had it of course---didn't realize how unique it was---but a baby buggy didn't fit in it very well---lol---Garry Worth, Kamloops, BC

👍💯😍💯👍
:-)
Acadian and Beaumont, though sold by Pontiac dealers who otherwise did not have a mid-sized car on offer in Canada, nor the Nova equivalent, are separate marques, not Pontiacs!

Not the '65 GTO console... which had chrome fins on top... Acadian 327 350 horsepower engine sticker is so kewl !!!
Hi BuzzLOLOL, Glad to read you enjoy the details like I do too :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge. Hope you see many more cars on this UA-cam Channel you'll enjoy, Lou
Correct. The instrument panel is Pontiac LeMans/GTO, the rest of the interior is Chevelle, including the console and shifter.
The 65 L79 convertible is not in BC it’s in Athol Idaho

steering wheel nice everything
Hi John Beer, You're right, this car has nice "everything" :-) Lou
WOW! would have like to hear that little beast ripping down the road, shifting at 7500RPM! I just watched an ebay auction end for an L79 El Camino, red red 4 speed bench, $17000, but poorly detailed, still sharp! How about a Beaumont nose on that El Camino?!?!?!?!
Hi Corvairwild,
The Beaumont / Camino is an interesting idea. Thanks for viewing and sharing.
Lou
Lou Costabile
And thank you for responding.. I also interview car owners, but usually have them crank er up! On my bucket list a '65 Parisienne convert like my dad bot new, but instead of a "red motor" 283PG, mine will get a 409-400 4 speed. Pontiac Canada prolly made only a handful of these, so mine will be a tribute, and a '65 Catalina 2+2 421HO Tri Power or BonnyVille will be it's sister. Hope to meet up with you someday -:))
CORVAIRWILD Hi CorvairWild,
That is GREAT to read you're a "Car Guy" too. I do have them start them sometimes, but not all the time based on where the Car Show is, as an example "World of Wheels", or "Muscle Car and Corvette Natl" is an indoor show. where the cars batteries cable is disconnected, and do not start until shows end. But when I can, I have Owners start them. Thanks for sharing,
Lou
This is true the lemans was not sold in canada, but the gto was.
Hi Peter, Hmmm, I'm not sure and hoping a Viewer can help answer your question, Lou
It looks like a cross between a 1965 malibu and a Chevy II. It really doesn't look anything like a 65 GTO.
Hi Bill, Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
O CANADA
:-)
Canadian version of a damn Chevelle. Derp... isnt that obvious ? And damn ot looks all pontiac on the inside.
Thank you for viewing & sharing. Hope you see many more cars on this UA-cam Channel you enjoy, Lou
Lou,
please let me know if you have any contact number, adress or mail from Joe Lizon. It would be great for me to get in touch with him.
Regards,
Claudio
Hi Claudio, If you e-mail me your questions, I can forward your e-mail and phone # to him, and then it's up to him to contact you. Put in the subject line, Joe Lizon question. My e-mail is trupowr@yahoo.com
Its a chevelle with Canadian trim. There is nothing GTO about it . It had all the same options as a chevelle . 6 cylinder 283 327 396 .Corvette engine ??/If you say so I had one of these and changed to a chevelle grill and rear trim and sold it for more money than I could get as a Acadian Beaumont . I don,t know who Gm was trying to fool. It looks better as a chevelle anyway. The name Acadian Beaumont was to please the Frenchmen because they liked the French name.
