On "My Car Story" we're at the Rosemont IL on 3-1-23 at the World of Wheels car show.
We're looking at a 1965 Chevrolet Malibu Chevelle in Mist Blue Paint. The car is equipped with a 283 CI V8 engine, with a automatic transmission.
The car's Owner is Rich Kenney. Rich’s had this car since 2010. Rich shares he noticed this car for sale, and a few days later it was still for sale. So he called the Original Owner and he shared all the paperwork of this car and saw VERY FEW MILES. He purchased it and here it is today.

This is a different type of car. A 1965 Chevelle Malibu with a pristine exterior, and a slightly worn interior. Has the daily driver look to it instead of the show car look which makes it that much more unique. Healthy sounding 327 engine with the throaty sounding dual exhaust. BTW, the rip in the front seat needs to be fixed, and the armrests in the rear need to be re-chromed. Then this Chevy would be pristine inside and out! Great looking low mileage survivor Lou!

What's not to love about this? Great car...and it's blue! I had a '66 Chevelle in white, with black vinyl top that I used as my "hunting" car. Take it out on the country roads, go hunting, toss the game in the trunk..haha. Seem to remember it had an inline six, but not sure anymore if that was even a thing in those. 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu.
The Chevrolet Chevelle/Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu was released back in 1963, with the first gen being produced from 1963 to 1967. It was the second car in Chevrolet's line-up to have Chevrolet's "Super Sport" package, with the first car being a 1961 Chevrolet Impala SS 327, SS 396/400, and SS 409. The SS 396, codenamed "L78" would make around 375 Horsepower and 500 Pound-Feet of Torque for cars that were equipped with it, such as the 1970 Chevrolet Nova SS 396 L78. This package had a more stylish interior, "SS" and "Super Sport" packages on the front, side, and rear fascia of the vehicles, and obviously came with more bigger engines. The "SS" package on average costed around $2,276 for a coupe in 1966 ($21,400 Dollars in 2023 Dollars). In future years, the "SS" package came with even bigger engines, such as the SS 427 and the SS 454 (Codenamed "LS6") featured on other cars such as the Chevrolet Corvette (SS 427/454) and the Chevrolet Chevelle (SS 427/SS 454).
Because of the "SS" trim, it has spawned competitors made by other companies, examples include Pontiac's "Trans Am" and "The Judge" for the Firebird and GTO, Oldsmobile's "W-30" package for the 442, "Gran Sport" and "Gran Sport Xtreme" (GS and GSX) for the Skylark and Riviera, the "Cobra Jet", and "Super Cobra Jet" (CJ and SCJ), by Ford for the Torino, Fairlane, and other models, Mercury's "XR7" and "Eliminator" for the Cougar, and many more to come.

Very nice example. I really like the painted rims, wheel covers, and redlines. A hint to the upgraded engine. I not 100% positive, but usually, at this time, full disk wheel covers were still an option. In period pics you'd sometimes see a top-of-the-line convertible wearing dog-dishes. I like when the exterior aluminum still has a chrome look. When it gets a dull silver/grey tone, it looks shabby.

great looking antique car have always had a soft spot for the Malibu as when my late maternal grandmother drove me to school from 3rd to 5th grade and 7th-9th grade and second car the cab company she worked for loaned her was a used 97 Malibu which was better for her then the original Impala/caprice they loaned her as she'd been used to smaller cars since having a used 84 Buick Skylark limited 4 door sedan

My friend had the same yr/color but 100 with a 6 cyl & 3 on tree. 100 his no trim and vinyl seats, very plain looking but was a great car. Was used in great condition and he paid $50 or $100 😂

Hate to tell you, but that car is quite obviously not original paint. The Malibu side moldings (that run the full length of the side of the car on quarter, door, and back part of the front fender on all 65 Malibu's) have been removed and the holes filled. Look at the pictures of Malibu's in the showroom brochure shown in the middle of the video!
The front fender engine flag insignias have also been removed and the holes filled. The Malibu emblem on the driver's quarter is also out of position from original, and runs uphill as it goes toward the rear. Inside the trunk floor has been rattle-can spattered too. The rear trunk moldings (that were commented about being nice) have clearly been replated. You can see the divots where there were large pits that were ground out and replated over without filling and finishing the pits with brass. Originals without pits are "smooth", just with the horizontal ribs, no divots. The grill is also new, with obvious different finish versus the headlight bezels right beside it.
Also, the one T-3 headlight shown in closeup is a late 67 to 70 T-3 with the ribs in the triangle, not a 65. The 58 to mid/late 67 T-3 has a clear triangle without any ribs. (Maybe the other three are originals and the owner just had the rib thing backwards?)
Nice car, but very far from a true original survivor car when it has had a full repaint.
Lastly, this car is a Malibu, not a 300 (or a 200 ???) as was stated in some of the other comments. 300 was the lowest trim level Chevelle, 300 Deluxe was next, Malibu next, and then the Malibu SS. 300's and 300 Deluxes were only available as post sedans and wagons, no hardtops or convertibles.

....there are always commercials at the beginning of all UA-cam videos, however I have the option of putting commercials in the middle of my videos, and since I wouldn't want to see commercials in the middle of the video, I make sure to turn them off. So if you have to watch a commercial or two @ the beginning of the video (which is how I get paid to share with you) I hope that let's you know I'm doing what I can to give you a positive viewing experience, Lou
