    Ever since I had removed my String Trimmer Guard I have increased my accuracy and comfortability when doing my edges by at least 60%. I make sure that I wear safety glasses at all times and in some cases I wear a full face guard. Best thing I ever did for me at least is remove the guard. A neater job all round.

    • @stevecarr1992
      @stevecarr1992 5 років тому +3

      @@DansVlog - Seems that I heard you, or someone else mention that 80 will also cut into and damage fences alot quicker as well. I've been trying out that Rotary, Copperhead Vortex 95, that George Packard highly recommended, around the house, and really like it. Have always used Sthil, regular orange 95, and this black Vortex stuff is a bit thinner, more like 90, and kicks butt. Said he got turned onto it in Florida, and liked so much, brought it back to Wisconsin to use, and lasts way longer than other trimmer line he was using. I know you love the 80, but try this Rotary Vortex 95, and maybe do a video on if it's as good as they say. Thanks for reading my long comment, and thanks for all your informative videos.

    Dan--you have a good, steady hand--it always looks easy when someone knows how. I tried this, and went through line like crazy and it was not as straight and true, but you have encouraged me. And a big THANK YOU for pointing out the safety side, it would be so easy to hit yourself, someone else, or a car, or whatever. Note for people in my situation, where people are coming and going constantly. Look often up and down the street, be sure no one is coming within "the line of fire"

  • @blessedand4givenipress570

    Thank you so much for posting this video I really appreciate it there was a man across the street just now and he was trimming and edging a yard and I asked him if he could help me because I'm trying so hard to learn. I'm a 58 year old female just started cutting grass last year, I do OK but I don't know how to edge the yard and my first weed wacker or trimmer broke. I tried to get the issue resolved with Home Depot but they let me down they would not assist me, well maybe that's not correct it's not that they would not assist me they just did not assist me with what I needed. When I tried to show them what was going on, they did not listen, then they said they would have to plug it in to see what was going on for themselves. So I waited for a half an hour only for them to tell me they did not have an extension cord and I would have to come back, I went home disappointed. I called the manufacturer, they told me to take it to Home Depot (smh). After several attempts, I just threw it away. So last weekend my son gave me a Black and Decker trimmer and I'm trying to learn how to trim the edges of my yard, so I whispered a prayer and went across the street and asked the gentleman that was working on my neighbors yard I have seen him several times in the neighborhood I thought if he could just point me in the right direction just give me a heads up on how to do it. He was kind enough to stop with you was doing and gave me a 5-minute lesson, he basically said that my yard was in bad shape and that what I had trying to trim my yard with was a toy compared to what he had. Explain to him that I had gone to Home Depot to try to get my issue resolved, he said I was wasting their time that's why they did not help me. I came in the house feeling so disappointed and your video was playing because I looked up some things earlier on taking care of your yard and you just happen to be on when I came in the house and the things that you addressed is what's going on in my yard, especially the way it's overgrown to the sidewalk. So in about 12 minutes, I learned so much, I'm going to try and apply what I have learned today, it may take me a couple of times, but I'll get it and I have your video to watch over and over again. Thank you so much! I'm so grateful to people that take their time and post these videos it is such a great help God bless you and have a wonderful day☺

    Thanks so much for the video. I've decided to let go of my "yard man" and start taking care of my own lawn in order to save money and this was a great tutorial.

    Awesome video. I learned two things: 1) my cheap battery powered eater blows 2) why I have been getting rocks and debris smacking the piss outta my skins lol. Thank you! Great video.

    Hey Dan, I'm subscribing right now. The beginning was hilarious, that is a good sense of humor. I'm starting my business, so I have just a couple of month of experience here, I mean nothing... anyways, I have a hard time having the correct technique with the weed eater, so today a friend of mine borrowed me a blade edger and it was easy and fast to finish the yard. I don't think it is a bad idea to buy one of the edgers when also I'm planning to charge an extra $20 o $25 in every new customer.

    Really handy tips especially on finding that edge on an overgrown edge.
    Just picked up a new FS91 to replace an old freebie that I've been running with in the last year. I'll keep it for small jobs and learning how to tune and maintain the motor.
    Oh and down here in Melbourne, Australia only the 2 strokes go backwards...or the timing is out.

    Awesome Video Brother!! I just got my first weed wacker and just started on my yard. Sure I've been using weed edgers for years but never game a shit about it until I now own my home and yard and of course I now respect my lawn and want it to look great. I kind of messed up on a few parts but it's getting easier and easier over time and experience. Anyway Love your video!
