I think they look kinda cool. I agree that they do look like ear buds. They look similar to my co-workers air pods. I like the sleek look. Too bad they wouldn't be powerful enough for me. But, I never really understood why people are trying so hard to hide the fact that they are hearing impaired. You need hearing aids, just accept it. Personally, I would rather people know I have a hearing impairment so they at least understand why I may struggle to hear or understand them. In the case of hearing aids looking like ear buds, it almost seems disrespectful. "Oh, they would rather listen to their music than me ..." I am probably overthinking it as someone who has worn hearing aids my entire life.
I just found this video. I have been using the Jabras for about a month now. My loss is not bad, but enough that I was frustrating my wife! I do use them situationally. I am mostly alone during the day, and put them in shortly before my wife arrives home from work. It allows me to hear her clearly with no feedback problems. I also use them for my medical appointments. Using them for UA-cam speaking videos is fine, but they don’t meet my requirements for music. I have more suitable headphones and iems for that.
Hey Larry, I'm pleased to hear that you're getting on well with them. It's great feedback especially re the situational use. Thanks for watching, Matthew
Your video reviews are well done and Your review is spot on. Coincidentally I submitted a solicited Jabra Enhance survey today. In it stated that my experience was exactly as you describe...sound quality is very poor when streaming music or calls. Not to mention that I've been told that I sound like I'm in a cave by the person I'm speaking to on a phone call...perhaps I need to adjust the microphone volume to fix? If not for the battery life and obviousness of my AirPods I would use a AP's instead and save a ton of money. Nonetheless I think they do serve a purpose for those of us who need "situational" amplification. Perhaps my expectations are too high for this product.
I find it weird when normal hearing persons review a product for hearing impaired as the benefits are not really put to the test but a lot of the downfalls, that impaired may not experience are highlighted. As such, there are two things that I still wonder about with this product; how's the hearing aid functionality actually (and I understand why you have a hard time accessing that) but you could provide some info on improvement in e.g. SRT and see how well the fitted gain matches a prescription on an impaired subject. Second: Is it a good value given the price is less than 1/3 of traditional aids? How do they compare to Bose which is the only other FDA approved aid which are similar in price? Other than that, quite a good and thorough review :)
Hey C3R, thanks for taking the time to comment. You're right, and I hope you appreciate my discussion on that in the video, and that my main focus is to run through the features and evaluate the sound features that I can. We've starting a 'Hearing Aid Diaries' series, which you may have seen with Matt who reviewed the Bose SoundControl hearing aids for us. So hopefully in the future we'll have that gap filled. In terms of your two points, firstly that screams out for another video, so watch this space. Secondly, I would say wait until their gen 2 comes out. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, Matthew
Thanks for your unbiased review. Crazy question but... my wife and I both have some hearing loss but in different ears (which makes seating options very limited!). Could we each use just one these? Not wanting to stream music or phone obviously, that would be too funny. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Thank you for your review! I just received a pair of these Jabra Enhance Plus hearing aids. I followed the personalization (hearing calibration). The sound quality is pretty good, however... I need them to run at 9 or 10 volume (Surround mode) to get enough volume out of them, is anyone else having this issue? For reference, my last hearing test is around 50-60 dB from 3K hz - 6 Khz. thank you
Is there a launch date Jabra/Resound uses for their next new products? Kind of like Apple when they release their new stuff. I would rather wait for new tech to come out. Any ideas at all? Thanks!
@@barryalanlevine The Signia Actives will be professionally programmed in office versus the self hearing test programming on the Jabras. Half the cost of hearing aids is the professional services, fitting and follow-ups
Thanks for this video. I am completely deaf in my left ear. With my Apple Air Pods Pro 2, I can use just one of them for noise reduction and hearing help if I go into the accessiblity settings. Do the Jabra Enhance Plus work well with just one of them in?
I found them to have a low level low frequency hum and that is my biggest deterrent to selling them. I also wish I could see what my hearing test results looked like. I have to wonder if there was an error in the hearing screening that caused the low level hum - but since I can’t see my test results - I can’t tell. Maybe they need a firmware update to fix that problem?!
That could perhaps be amplified microphone own-noise that becomes audible due to the closed fit? I suppose it would be the same with normal aids if you use closed eartips?
If they are self adjusting what are you receiving for your $199.00 Beltone fee? Costco provides a free test, which I took. I have a very mild loss and situational is what I need. (AirPod Pro now) Why can’t I avoid that up charge? But two negatives are for me, besides that extra fee is occlusion effect and limited phone options for my iPhone 10s. Oh, if Apple would make black earbud pros without the stem, it would be almost perfect.
Hey Paul, thanks for watching. Checkout the Beltone website it covers the content of that appointment. As far as I am aware it's to ensure ear health and no referable conditions prior to the fitting. Thanks for taking the time to comment, Matthew
I am leaning towards the Widex series right now, some that are good for music as well as talk. But I wonder if I should wait, might they come out with a new series this year do you think?
Numerous reports say that wearing prescription hearing aid can prevent dementia. Doctor: Do you think these OTC hearing aids (including the Airpod Pro 2) are also able to prevent dementia?
On a separate but related note, while longer wear time on a charge would be nice, I wouldn't consider these for full day wear anyway. I wear IICs most of the time, which I love for their invisibility, but of course cannot stream phone calls or TV with them. Would like to add a pair of 'affordable' wearables like these, to use for streaming calls and TV, without needing to buy a whole second pair of $6,000 aids just for that. But if they can't stream from my TV, then even $800 seems too high for just phone calls.
For $1000 it is a little bit less than Costco $1400 which gives you much more in term of quality (and they are Phonak brand with real bluetooth and last 14-20 hours depends on the streaming time). If you are going to use the Jabra here and there you probably will loss them; i can get an audiologist test with my health insurance for $20; why should I pay $200 extra for a test I don't need. Also, My Costco can pair with 8 bluetooth devices but uses only two in the same time. My understanding that this device can pair only to iPhone.
Who knows if the entry of these companies specialized in earphones will not contribute to improving some characteristics of hearing aids, such as the insufficient bluetooth connection.
Actually, due to the small size, deep inerstion into the ear and low power requirements, hearing aid antenna-work is much more sofisticated than what you find in a regular true wireless earbud that pertrudes much more from the ear to provide obsticle free wireless signals, has bigger surfaces to house much larger antennas + power-hungry modules to boost signal strength.
Is it an amplifier? How does it account for my specific loss. You covered all this info but left out how it actually helps? If I have a moderate high frequency loss, how does it know to only help me in the range I have loss? This seems very misleading for those of us just trying to improve communication. 100 people with hearing loss will all have different losses. Unless someone is programming it to my loss, then it's nothing more than what Walgreens has been selling for the last decade... oh yeah, this one is rechargeable, so I guess it's different. Crazy how people are still out here promoting "snake oil" in the year 2022.
