Christopher Cross is an icon. Love Ride like the wind too
This is not music, this is pure magic. 😊
my favorite song of all times because i remember this when i was child living near the water. just think about the sun sparkling off the water.
Biggest selling song of 1980. Just pure smooth sound.
He is one of those one of a kind artists.... You confuse no one else with him! Too too beautiful!
Elite all time great talent and voice.
This song is what I think of whenever I think of actually sailing the clear blue sea.
When this song hit the charts back in the day, it was an earworm for me & I just had to buy the album. Not sorry, the whole thing was good, but this song reaches to my soul in a very special way to this very day. If you close your eyes when you listen to it, it takes you somewhere heavenly...
Close your eyes and you can almost taste the salt on your lips as you cut through the waves. Wow!
This song was HUGE when it came out.
The song and album won best New artist, song and album that year. He took home 4 Grammys. That being said, it played on the radio 24/7 much to the pleasure of millions of listeners. It's a song that can take you away from your worries or problems for a few mimutes and never gets old. Keep in mind, this was a live performance, no auto-tune, no fancy gimmicks or electronic trickery, just a great artist with a great backing band doing what great musicians and performers do...
Sadly we lost these special types of pure talent performances to modern day electronics, backing tracks and studio gimmicks decades ago.
Music has never been the same since.
OMG this song is sooooo soothing and beautiful! I love him! Thank God he survived Covid and is getting better and better everyday!
This may be the most relaxing song ever recorded. Swaying in a hammock, eyes closed, a gentle breeze blows with the warmth of the sun as this plays. Ahhh . . .
1 of my top 5 songs of all time. Excellent
Such a smooth song with a smooth voice....this song always takes me to another place....a peaceful place 💗🕊️
I still remember being a child and first hearing this. I was just blown away. It's just cool. Beautiful choice. I highly recommend another track from the same album, The Light is On
We almost lost this amazing artist due to Covid but thankfully he lives to sail another day.
My favorite of his!
We one and all fell in love with his music when this song hit us.... He is brilliant! You cannot fail to have a good reaction to his music.... Try it all.... But this is definitely one of a kind!!!
"Think of Laura","Arthurs Theme".
"Sailing" is the first song I heard by Christopher Cross and it is my favorite".love the piano solo. The whole production is beautiful. His voice is everything.Just Enchanting.
I LOVE,, LOVE THIS SONG
What can you say about this Masterpiece!? Other than it sounds like it came straight from Heaven.
Great reaction friend.
I’m always struck by how young he is in these early performances. It must be the baby face! 😂🌺✌️
Welcome to "Yacht Rock" :)
Beautiful #1 record! Masterpiece from talented Singer Songwriter Christopher Cross. 😎♥️🎼🎵🎶🇨🇦
I loved your comments about the meaning of the song. I have a friend who says that this reminds her of horseback riding. I think it is about that "thing" that transports you to a place of tranquility.
I wrote on C.C. facebook page when he posted this song. About how my late sister begged our mother to buy this record when this song came out.Even thought she was a single mom. With no extra $ she bought it for her. I told him what this song meant to her and me. He wrote me back and commented such kind words. So sweet of him. Love this beautiful song.
I wish everybody would hear that Song with your ears! Thanks for the Reaction
Perfectly said....Great reaction
This song still plays on the radio, although on oldies stations now. It's a classic.
"Swept Away", "Never Be The Same", "Think Of Laura", or "Between The Moon And New York City (Arthur's Theme)" would be great follow ups.
Have a great day.
When Sailing came out on the radio, I fell in love with the song and Christopher Cross' voice. In 2020, he came down with covid. There were complications, he was temporarily paralyzed, and his voice and memory were compromised. He went to physical therapy. Happy to say he will be on a concert tour
The song also won Grammy Awards for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Arrangement of the Year, and helped Cross win the Best New Artist award for 1980.
I played this album to death in the 80s. Superb.
Smooth as silk and another huge hit!
Just the prettiest song. I sailed up once from Panama to Key West.
This song takes me back to that journey - i've always loved the line:
"The canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see, won't you believe me?".
It really does take you away to a magical place. The subtleties from the instruments transcend the song even more. Some music is given a devine touch, this is definitely one!
My dad was an avid sailor, his boat was called "Solace". This was his his and my mom's "song" when they were dating. He passed in 2003 and my mom had this song played at the funeral. Not a dry eye to be found. Thank you
" Never be the same " is another wonderful one by Christopher Cross.
🖐️🇨🇵
HARRY...YOU ARE THE BEST 👏👏👏👏
I had this album. I bought it just for this song.
He is still doing concerts so out and about, had some great hits back in the 80s. Christopher has such a smooth voice that can just take you away on the notes along a breeze.
C’est une pure merveille ce titre. Une vraie mélodie qui me fera toujours frissonner ❤
I can close my eyes after a hard working day and listen to this soulful melody
Superb 2 thumbs up !!
This is a beautiful song and even though I've heard it probably hundreds of times over the years, it never gets old. Wikipedia has a good quote regarding the history of the song..."Cross has said in interviews that the song's inspiration was his friendship with an older friend from his high school, Al Glasscock, who would take him sailing as a teenager, just to get away from the trials and tribulations of being a teenager. Glasscock functioned as a surrogate older brother during a tough time for Cross emotionally".
Christopher Cross - the King of Yacht Rock!
🛥🎶🤘😎
Try the theme from the film Arthur , also by Christopher Cross.
Christopher Cross is amazing and every song of his is a masterpiece. "Think of Laura" is lovely & was written about a friend of his that died; another different theme. And check out. "Arthur's Theme" (The Best That You Can Do). :-)
@George Bethea - Michael McDonald has done a lot of touring with Toto too; I have seen him with them in concert many times; he is awesome; so is Toto. Michael has backed up more bands than almost anyone else. He is fabulous. There is no mistaking Michael's voice; once you've heard him sing, you never forget it.
"Think of Laura" got me so emotional (I was a General Hospital viewer at the time, LOL).
This is his best. 2 me 😁🎸⛵
This song brings back wonderful memories
If you haven't been sailing, you may be missing a remarkable part of this song........Christopher Cross has absolutely captured the sound......the rhythm...... of the water and waves against the hull of a sailboat under sail.......
Check out " Arthur's theme " big hit for him ❤️
This song does something to me too❤
The greatest gift you can give someone is to get them to try different music. I was brought up on the Beatles, Stevie wonder, Van Morrison, Motown and Stax, Steely Dan, but every day I find something new and 😍 beautiful. Right now I've discovered Harry Styles 😂 yes at 62 years old! Why not? It's great stuff believe me. Great music doesn't have age, colour, class or politics 😊
Silk and diamonds in my ears!
Enjoyed your reaction so much! This song never gets old. 🌊⛵️🐬🌊🐳
Absolutely love your reactions.... So, so, inside the music, getting it!
Christopher Cross' song 'Arthur's Theme' is also classic. His music is part of the sub-genre known as 'Yacht Rock'.
Original songs, you can here every word and silky smooth.
" Dianonds in my ears". Love that analogy. Perfect
If I had one song, stuck on an island for the rest of my life to listen to, this would be it. I never tire of it.
"Diamonds in my ears". I love it!! Please know I will be stealing that line :))
Sensational is the perfect word ❤
"Think of Laura" will have you in tears brother.
"What's chasing this guy" lol, I have no idea but always loved his voice and music
it was the love of my life's fav song.....hes gone now and i miss him terribly.
If I may recommend some Bruce Hornsby. You will really enjoy. This song is a masterpiece and thank you for the upload!
CHRISTOPHER CROSS "RIDE LIKE THE WIND"..CLASSIC..TRUTH!!
Harry u can be taken anywhere with this song, take the melody and run with it.Great great song...
Totally chill music... Flawless...
Goose bumps........
Definitely a song to make you escape and dream...Very special ! Thanks Harri ~Gin
The is such a Great Song.... It is one of those relaxing vibes that just calms you down form a long day or drive. Makes we want to just go fishing, don't care if I catch a single fish; just want to cast my line in the water and sit: Listening to the people talking, birds singing and the sun on my face....
You continue to honor the best!!
Christopher Cross is amazing, try "Say You'll be mine," or "Never Be the Same," Both incredible songs in his collection.
Brillant song real ❤️❤️❤️
He lives in central Texas and the Gulf Coast is only a couple of hours away. God (has) Bless(ed) Texas.
Harri I forgot to mention that Christopher won an Oscar for the original song Arthur’s Theme “ The best that you can do”. I think his work is nothing short of Amazing! 😎
Good reaction, totally feel what you are sailing
So well orchestrated. Many people today believe it’s all a recording... back then... music was so rehearsed, over and over again, it couldn’t help be sound like in a studio.
CC is definitely a classic style musician. Practicing til perfection.
Makes me think of my childhood around the age of 7 or 8. I would love to go back to that time.
Why am I addicted to watching people react to this song?
Reminds me of when I was a kid in the 70s.
I like a lot your interpretation of the song. That's deep brother.
This song and album was one of FIVE Grammy Awards in 1981. Amazing performer A song that was nominated but did not win was Arthur’s Theme. Harri you will also enjoy this one too 😎
Check out his song think we're gone make it...another goodie
What's a trip about Christopher Cross is that here's this 6'7" dude with the voice of an angel in a register that most definitely doesn't match his imposing stature.
I think you're gonna love "Arthur's theme"!
"Never be the same" is another good one
❤❤❤❤❤
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Next two songs you need to do is Arthur’s Theme and Think of Laura!!! And isn’t his voice sublime!
It's so good to hear these songs now and have a different perspective. You have to understand that these songs played every few hours on the radio. Many of them were overplayed IMO. This one and Debby Boone's song.
"Arthur's Theme is the first one I heard and it still my favorite
PLEASE react to his songs, Think of Laura, Arthur's Theme, and Never Be the Same. Another favorite is "All Right"
1 of the most relaxing songs! 😃 A great singing effort! 👨🎤
Suggested next video: Arthur's Theme. CC wrote this with an all-star writing team.
A beautiful song so smooth carries you away good stuff 😊
exquisite sublime
That was beautiful ❤
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. His voice is so unique and amazing.
Continued good luck harri, your a good man with a good show.
