Keep in mind, this was a live performance, no auto-tune, no fancy gimmicks or electronic trickery, just a great artist with a great backing band doing what great musicians and performers do... Sadly we lost these special types of pure talent performances to modern day electronics, backing tracks and studio gimmicks decades ago. Music has never been the same since.

My dad was an avid sailor, his boat was called "Solace". This was his his and my mom's "song" when they were dating. He passed in 2003 and my mom had this song played at the funeral. Not a dry eye to be found. Thank you

@George Bethea - Michael McDonald has done a lot of touring with Toto too; I have seen him with them in concert many times; he is awesome; so is Toto. Michael has backed up more bands than almost anyone else. He is fabulous. There is no mistaking Michael's voice; once you've heard him sing, you never forget it.

What's a trip about Christopher Cross is that here's this 6'7" dude with the voice of an angel in a register that most definitely doesn't match his imposing stature.
It's so good to hear these songs now and have a different perspective. You have to understand that these songs played every few hours on the radio. Many of them were overplayed IMO. This one and Debby Boone's song.
