My 6 year old had one while back. Was told he wasn't going to make it, can't explain what I felt that day. Week later he held strong after surgery and drainage. That led to them finding a brain tumor on pineal gland. Happy to say after so much my lil man pulled through. 3years healthy since 🙏

My sister had an aneurysm early one morning, she was able to survive for 5 days before being operated on and survived. However, after 3 months she had another one and was operated on again. It hss been 1 year since, and she is still here. I give all glory to God who worked through the doctors. I still believe that it was God both times.

My biggest fear. I have a coworker who I was sitting right beside in a meeting, and she suddenly plopped down out of nowhere and started “snoring.” I thought she just fell asleep, apparently she had an aneurysm. We had to call 911. Thankfully she survived. This is one of my biggest fears.

I worry so much as well. My mother had a aortic aneurysm. Because I’m in the medical field I was able to get her to a vascular surgeon in a teaching area. Her doctor had said that she did have an aneurism which was 2 cm. In women, the aneurism will bust at 3 to 4. It did bust but her life was spared. My father he actually died of an abdominal aneurysm. It was terrible. Lastly, my father‘s late mother was found in the bathtub dead. She had suffered an aneurism in her brain. I get such bad migraines and especially lately. It is on both sides of my family. I’ve told the doctor so many times to check for it but that never comes to fruition. Take care of yourself!

I don't know if anyone wants to read this, but my brain aneurysm burst on August 18, 2018. I was 38 years old at the time and my youngest son was 10. I was a single mother. More than 70 percent of brain aneurysm victims die within 30 minutes. I survived but I was severely handicapped. Because the bleeding was large and occurred in the left hemisphere of the brain, I became completely dependent on care. I had to relearn basic activities such as speaking and walking and it took me years. Now, more than 6 years later, I feel like I can live a little again. I will never be the old me again, but I have been able to relearn the basic skills. A brain disorder is one of the worst things that can happen to you. An aneurysm is often congenital and can be triggered by stress. Life can really be very different from one moment to the next. I had never heard of an aneurysm. Or realize how bad traumatic brain injuries really are. Live healthy. Avoid stress. Love. Appreciate the little things in life. Be good to everyone, people and animals.

My mom had a brain aneurysm back in 2006. I was 26 at the time I will never forget that day. I was talking to her I was off from work that day which I was never off from work on the weekend. When I was talking to her she said I’m having the worse headache ever and she put her head down with her hand on her forehead. I was still talking to her but she wasn’t answering me. I called her name I got down on the floor to look at her because she had her head down so I couldn’t see her face, and her eyes were wide opened and she has a glossy stare. I called the ambulance and she ended up being in the hospital for a month. She was paralyzed on one side, but with therapy but she was able regain strength to be able to move that side. It was just me, my mom and my daughter at home that day and had I been at work my mom would have died. My mom was a heavy smoker and smoked since I been alive all the way up until she had the aneurysm so I always thought that the smoking caused it. If she has a headache she’s going to the hospital because she said since the aneurysm she hasn’t had any headaches and she hasn’t smoked any cigarettes since.

She said her mom had this most painful headache, so her mom decided to lay down for a bit. My friend's last words to her mom was, "mom what's for dinner?" Not knowing her mom would pass away hours later. They did eventually rush her mom to the hospital, but it was already too late. Sadly, she lost her mom that very night. I will never forget it. My thumb can spread beyond the palm edge, but I was diagnosed with a cerebral aneurysm in 2005. Nearly 20 yrs later my latest MRI showed no change still the same size 3.5mm, too small to consider surgery. I have learnt to ignore the fact that I have one and go with the flow of life. I keep my blood pressure in check and look after myself and if I ever get the ‘worst headache’ of my life I even know which hospital to go and so do all my family members. Getting teary eyed reading the comments. I know I’m fortunate to be alive and have my motor skills. There are various types of aneurysms. I found that out when I suffered a rare kind when a blood vessel burst on my lower right side of brain at 42. There were no signs b4 and I was healthy. I woke up with the worst headache. I still worked stupidly. Next day I was having lower back pain. I don’t get migraines and should have taken it as a sign that something was severely wrong and I didn’t. I was agitated and short tempered which isn’t me. Another sign something was severely wrong. I walked around like that for 7 days! I only went to the dr after a coworker told me my face looked different. Come to find out by then I was beginning to show signs of a stroke. I had minimally invasive surgery with little brain swelling. The bleeding was seeping down my spine which caused the back pain. I was out the hospital in 4 days. I’m still quite sensitive to bright lights but I’m alive & well 2 years later 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

My mom died of an aneurysm back in 2000 when she was only 52 years old...she was unhealthy, ate tons of fried foods and smoked for decades. She was getting excessive headaches and had an appointment to see a doctor one morning in late January of 2000, she had her bathwater running in the master bath, went to make her coffee in the kitchen and was walking on her way back to the bath when the aneurysm happened, coroner said she was dead before she even hit the floor. My uncle who was a truck driver couldn't reach her by phone for a couple of days and went to check on her, she had been passed for a couple of days, she was single. She struggled with weight her entire life. She was the main reason that kept my awareness of my health seeing her struggles and what eating the wrong foods will do to you. She was the sacrifice to my great health, I'm 53 years old now, a year older than her and in the best shape and health of my life. It's been 24 long years since I've seen and hugged my mom......I still miss her dearly, she was the best mom I could have ever had, she was just horrible at being healthy, she was a single mom and lived for me, but when I moved out and started my own life, I think she spiraled and ate from grief and sadness which ultimately took her out. It feels weird to be a year older than a passed parent, it makes you feel like you are on bonus years. Advice to anyone who needs it, don't live for other things, live for yourself and enjoy life, we only have one...live it well! And yes, I can extend my thumb past the edge of my hand so it's probably a really good thing that I take care of myself since it appears my genetics are prone to aneurysms.

I was in great shape, 66 years old, going to the gym five days a week, running bleachers at the local football field, riding my bike 50 to 100 miles a month. I was preparing for a difficult hunt In Alaska in 2022. My best friend encouraged me to do a body scan at a local doctor’s office just to make sure everything was OK before this strenuous hunt . After my scan the Dr immediately sat me down and told me to find a cardiologist asap as I had a 6 cm aortic aneurysm . I located a great cardiologist in Fort Worth, Texas, who could not believe I was still alive. They got me on the operating table quickly for open-heart surgery.. I had no symptoms. My health was great. It is a silent killer. The company is called Via Scan in Irving Texas, $600 back then. I encourage everybody to do this scan. Normal blood test and basic check ups do not tell you what’s going on with your body.

A body scan …only 600? A relative was told by a medical doctor that she needed only a pelvis CT scan … and the. Resulting report was so ambiguous. “Appendix non identified” partially collapsed lung “ days after the scan my relative was called by a nurse saying “ results normal” and the phone. My relative called back to request a hard copy of a report of the results and found out about the appendix and lung. Few weeks later she started having problems in her through when she swallowed food…and her spine cracks when she takes deep breaths and has back pain and neck pain. Crazy . Doctors seem to not love their profession …. You’re lucky if you get a 30 min space to listen and talk . Insurance refuses to cover and she owes 900 bucks. This is recent.

She had been off colour with some headaches. She saw the doctor (who said she just had a virus) 3 days before the aneurysm burst leading to brain hemorrhage. The paramedics were there within minutes but it was too late then although she had 4 days on life support.
I believe there is also a genetic aspect to predisposition to aneurysms.

We called an ambulance and they took her to the nearest hospital where they then flew her to Seattle where they did many tests where they found she has a brain aneurysm and she was pronounced brain dead. 😢three days later she was disconnected. It was so sad loosing her so suddenly right before her graduation and her 18 th b day, she was so excited to graduate and even had. Job lined up at the bank near our home. In 2019, I had a mild traumatic brain injury and ended up with persistent post concussion syndrome. They did a brain MRI in 2020 and found an aneurysm that was high risk for rupture. When my doctor said only 1 out of 2 people whose aneurysms rupture survive, I said what can we do. They went in through my groin, found that I actually had 4 aneurysms in my brain that were thankfully close together, so they inserted a flow diversion pipeline (metal sort of mesh tube) in my artery to cut off the blood flow to those bulging areas of my arteries. Within 2 years all aneurysms were completely gone praise God. Advice I got on prevention was resveratrol and exercise.

My wife had emergency surgery to her upper aortic dissection last November. She complained of severe back pains along the spine area, and we had no idea what it was until the doctors at ER scanned her. Her aorta is now replaced with a graft and as of April this year her heart size and function has returned to normal. However, as a complication, she suffered a minor stroke on her left side and her eyesight is not clear due to an infarction in her brain that occurred during her surgery. She now needs physiotherapy but can already walk but aided. Her kidneys at first did not function properly so had to use dialysis until they functioned nicely again. Cognitive wise, she gets bouts of mental block even when around people and her responses take a second slower than usual. Which is why I found she is quieter now than before, although she can talk and laugh and smile etc. But the moment the doctors tols me they had to conduct the surgery immediately my world fell apart, as it was life threatening. She spent 3 months in hospital and it's not something I'd like to go through again. Apparently this affects the women in her family: her maternal grandmother and aunt died due to this, but she managed to survive, while a couple of her female cousins are also at risk. Her doctors were amazed at her fighting spirit since ICU, I believe God gave her another lease of life. Now she can go for lengthy walks out in the hot sun and not complain about headache, dizziness, migraine, fainting, or even any pains in her back unlike before when she had to take painkillers just after a short walk because she gets nasty pains in her head and has to sleep to kill the psin off. I pray my wife continues to recover and enjoy life in full swing and happiness. A shout out to her doctors and therapists at Singapore General Hospital for their amazing work. ❤

It was found by accident in 2016 when it was still quite small, and has been monitored ever since by ultrasound and CT scans. Due to the shape and location of his aneurysm, an endograft is not possible, so he has been given two options, surgery that may lead to other serious health risks or leave it. Dr Berg, thank you for highlighting the significance of copper in aneurysms. I developed a tiny aneurysm in my brain 20-something years ago. Researching aneurysms then, I discovered that copper was important in maintaining collagen, which is what blood vessels are mostly made of. Ever since I've been trying to regularly consume copper-containing foods, particularly liver and sesame seeds. Vitamin C is also vital, which poses a bit of a dilemma. Vit C is somewhat antagonistic to copper, so it's best to consume the two nutrients at separate times. It's also a good idea to consume collagen regularly as bone broth.

Mine ruptured in 2019. I recognized the burning headache I'd had off and on for about three years, attributing it to menopause. It wasn't. The final headache was the worst one yet but what scared me the day it ruptured was the half-egg shaped lump that formed at the same time I felt a "tear" in my head on the left side of my neck. I was already going to go to the doctor as I'd had a major burn a few days earlier and my boxed hair color didn't take. So I was starting to suspect the headaches were something different. An hour before I could make the appointment, it ruptured. I still waited another 24 hours to go to the hospital as I had another appointment and figured I'd go down to the ER afterward and let them take a look at my head. They did a catscan and it was a brain bleed. I got my first ambulance ride to the hospital and got platinum coils put in my artery. I still didn't know it was also a hemorrhagic stroke until later. Neurotrauma ICU for about 10 days then stroke floor. Two weeks in the hospital but I survived. If it feels like the headaches burn, it's probably not menopause. That's not normal. I was 51 at the time. The average age brain aneurysms happen, but because it's around the time we can go through menopause, my headaches were initially dismissed. Get your headaches checked out. It's better to take care of the surgery BEFORE it ruptures than after with 50/50 survival rate and pre-monitoring minimizes lasting deficits. I have no known deficits. So thankful.

Only thing different for me is that my numbness is only the bottom part of my leg now, last year it had my thigh numb it lasted for ever seem like to get the feeling back. We have a LOT of aneurysm in my family, both sides. Brain & stomach. There are actually some signs. I have an aneurysm. Mine was find by accident when I was in a car accident and I was send to a cardiologist. I have a SMA (aneurysm). I don’t smoke or drink or do any drugs and Limit sugar.
My dad died 10 years ago from a huge aortic aneurysm that he didn’t know he had. He complained his back pain was excruciating so my mother took him to the hospital. I talked to him at 6:am and by 3:pm he has passed. Died as they prepped him for surgery. He was super healthy man at age 85. The one sign he has was back pain and his back was starting to hunch over.

My heart aches for the families who have lost their loved ones to a rupture. One thing we learned was if it's the worst headache ever, go to ER immediately and demand a CTA scan. Not a CT or an MRI. It's the scan with the dye. This is the only way they could find my mom's hemmhorage after her rupture.

In the UK most people are offered an ultrasound scan for aortic aneurysm at the age of about 65. That's a simple test. If an aneurysm is found it can be treated, and if there's nothing then you won't develop one in your remaining lifetime. Obviously this doesn't detect other types of aneurysm but it eliminates one source of concern.
