  • Yamaha GB1K vs Kawai GL10 Baby Grand Pianos Comparison - Main Differences and Demonstration
    In this video, Colin - Sales Manager here at Richard Lawson Pianos - compares two of the most popular entry-level baby grand pianos in the world: the Yamaha GB1K and the Kawai GL10. There are distinct differences in the action and hammers in particular, and these lead to noticeable differences in their responsiveness and tonal character. Colin demonstrates both instruments to highlight their differing sound qualities, and also discusses other factors such as what finishes are available in both cases, as well as differing warranty terms.
    Of course, choosing the right piano for you is ultimately a personal choice, and we always recommend visiting us to try these models for yourself, particularly since we always stock many different examples of each one. Love the clarity of the mid and upper registers of the Kawai. The lower register is Kawai all the way.
    The Kawai is also cheaper.

    Hello. I am planning to buy a grand piano, but I am currently thinking about between the new Kawai gl-10 and ge-20 used. The status of the ge-20 is class a. The price difference between the two models is not significant either. Can you tell me the difference between the two models and which one should I buy? Thank you.

    Both sound great, but I will always be biased towards to Kawai. Grew up with the action and it sounds lighter to me.

    I've heard the opposite of some of these observations. That the Yamaha has the lighter action (or maybe that's true for the GC vs. the GB). I don't know about this piano, but I've found a lot of recent Yamahas to be rather subdued and not in any way brash in the treble. If anything, I'd like a bit more sparkle in the treble, at least in the GB, GC, and even some of the CX range and would ask a technician to voice it to have more sparkle in the treble. The SX and CF range are another story. But even in this demonstration, I think the Kawai has the more brilliant sounding treble. Overall, it is personal preference. These seem pretty even to me but that's the way it is with Yamaha/Kawai although Kawai gives a bit more bang for the buck, until you get to the upper level pianos.

      @@benjaminsmith2287 So I've tested Yamaha and Kawai and I like the Kawai Action much more, it's softer and I don't like
      the much treble of Yamaha, I think the Kawai has a bit warmer sound, which I prefer. And the Kawai is more robust against temperature and
      humidity fluctuations which is also a large advantage :)

      @@tonymahagony-piano9586 Excellent. I think that each person will have their own preference and Kawai gives a bit more bang for the buck and tend to be larger overall than comparable Yamahas. Kawais also have longer key sticks.

    Ahhh Yamaha GB1K has a 10 years parts and labor warranty. That’s pretty much the standard for every major manufacturers acoustic grand piano. I don’t know where this guy got that five years from. Simply not true

    • @RichardLawsonPianosLtd
      @RichardLawsonPianosLtd  3 роки тому +4

      Apologies for any confusion, but in the UK, at least, the Warranty term for Yamaha acoustic pianos is 5 Years, and that for Kawai pianos is 10 Years. The Warranty terms may well be different in other regions.

    Your playing technique is most suitable in Yamaha pianos whereas the Kawai has a deeper laid back actions which requires higher level piano playing to deliver best timbre.

    Classical pianist from the 🇺🇸 there is no comparison gentlemen there is nothing that beats a Yamaha. It has the better sound and they bought the rights to Steinway and Bosendoefer so they are next level now. The GB1 K also won’t break the bank about $13,000 usd
