An excellent interview and summary of where we are. The New Liturgical Movement site is a truly great collection of writing and commentary. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Gregory's explanation of a 'continuity' of form of the Liturgy is very clear and good!

You touched on the point the European Church in establishing and shaping culture. The Catholic liturgy experience is desperately needed in the Asian Country of India. A new cultural experience for Asians in India, i refer to as Vatican II. A separate church sharing the universal appeal of the extraordinary.

They say "never give little children a choice of desserts" and this is why. We all die strruggling to have the best food in the desert.

the lectionary was renewed because of too much criticism that catholics do not know or read enough of the bible. so a priest named felix just SJ set about making the 3 year cycle , adding old testament and psalm readings into the mass along with the epistle and the gospels. the mystery of faith was done on the three year cycle also. this actually ups the amount of old testament+ psalms read in the celebration. (apparently the unliterate catholic is only exposed by this to about 15% of the old testament) much more now than the TLM celebration ever included. there was a purpose to recreating the lectionary to add the bulk increase in biblical readings. among other things. a reverent celebration with chant in many non diocesan churches does exist as i attend one. they do exist.

Fr Felix Just SJ maintains a website about lectionaries, and has written a great deal about them and things related to them, but he was NOT the creator of the revised lectionary of the post-Conciliar rite; he was still in grade school when it was issued in 1969.
The lectionary was not renewed, it was reinvented. Like most features of the post-Conciliar Rite, it is what it is because the inventors of that rite defied the words of the Second Vatican Council, threw out the historical Roman lectionary, and replaced it with an entirely new one of their own devising. It is in many, many ways very badly constructed, most particularly because it very often censors the Word of God in such a way as to substantially misrepresent its meaning, but also because the three-year cycle is too massive to learn and internalize. Like most of the post-Conciliar rite, it is extremely didactic, but not very pedagogical, and as a result, Biblical ignorance is far worse among Catholics today than it every was before the Council.

This was way, way too sectarian. In many European countries, conservatives are Protestant, not Catholic. That is the tradition of certain countries for the past 500 years. Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan were both active Protestants. The gentlemen in this film are perfectly entitled to their opinions, but they belong on a religious channel, not a political one. The Latin Mass has nothing to do with political philosophy. Likewise, it is perfectly possible to have any faith, or indeed none, and still be a conservative. Equating, at least by implication, conservatism exclusively with Roman Catholicism is a huge mistake.

@@AdrianLee-ho1ds Where are they? Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark Germany, the Netherlands, England, Scotland and North Ireland all have minor or almost no Protestants left. There may be some Evangelicals in each Country but none have any substantial influence (except maybe some dirsticks in England)... so where are these millions?
No, I am definitely not one of you! Protestantism is the first explosion against Christianity...

@@johnvwilkman There are no catholics anymore, only perverts and supporters of perverts. Your 'church' has paid out billions to the victims of your priests. I don't understand how you can even consider yourselves to be a religion any longer. Scientology has more credibility.

@@AdrianLee-ho1dsI would have thought it's in the name....protestants protested thereby breaking with Tradition. It's a sort of revolutionary spirit.
