Schofield made the comments from a deserted Madagascan island during the first episode of Channel 5's Cast Away series last night.

It's got ZERO to do with it being same sex. People would be at least as outraged if a man in his 50s had groomed a teenage girl, given her a job then taken advantage of her soon afterwards. Probably more outrage.

The thing is 9 times out of 10 when people get caught they get caught for that particular incident but as with criminals theres many many other incidents that dont ever come to light, its nearly always the tip of the iceberg.
Maybe the boys parents (who was 12 when they first met) should be on the island too and he could discuss how difficult it was for him with them?
It wasnt just someone at work. It was a boy who he had known since being 15, who HE brought to work (he got him the job there). It was grooming.
The relationship happened when the guy was well into adulthood
Begum got married to a stranger at 15 (child marriage which is illegal over here and below the age of consent, it was statutory rape over here legally) but most people don't see her as a groomed child even though she clearly was by any measure

I have never been a Schofield fan! Frankly, I don't think his actions were illegal or immoral, but they were unwise. When a person is contemplating suicide nobody should be pushing them towards finalising the deed. I don't think he has been treated well. I believe his homosexuality is the reason for the furore. His family support him so enough said.
Not for a second, he is old enough to be a grandfather was earning a six figure salary and groomed a child. What is there to pity ?
Amazing that people put there arms around him & said how brave he was to come out but had it been a very young woman he was having an affair with he would have been labelled a vile love rat & a dirty cheat!
At 36 he met the lad who was 12, he groomed until he was of age (i highly doubt the age thing myself) used him and threw him aside. That lads life is ruined. Scholfield is definitely a predator, all be it a clever one, and he should never be in a position of power again. Neither should he have his behaviour normalised or rewarded by being on our screens.
