I met Alex a few years ago and he’s exactly the same as this interview. He’s the most chill person with a dry sense of humor. He’s super humble and didn’t talk down to me when we chatted climbing.

I told him how I’d imagined running into out there eventually and how stoked I was to literally do just that! He let me snap a pic with him and then we both split in opposite directions. It was a moment I won’t forget.
Five years from now we'll learn that the whole point of this Podcast was for Tosh to remove clutter from his house and no other reason. And we'll all be here to applaud him for succeeding.

Add to that, Horton was part of a sustained marketing push for over a decade. Alex Honnold seems to just go with the flow and not even want the attention (in a good way). It'd be hard to guess

It literally took up an entire week watching every interview and video I could find because I was so fascinated. I liked U2 a LONG time ago. I loved their first 3 albums A LOT. I liked their 4th “Unforgettable Fire” (produced by Brian Eno 👍🏻). From Joshua Tree on they were a boring stadium Pop band.

I loved every second of this I could probably listen to four hours of this. But it definitely was a sprint. Alex sounds like the coolest guy to hang out with and just chat… He handled being machine gunned with questions without even acting irritated at all.

@@yakobl9010 I’ll say this too, I went into the Alpinist with no prior knowledge to the story or how it would shake out and in the end it his death made a lasting impact that will stick with me more then most films ever can. His outlook on life and his dedication to doing what he wanted against the grain is something that resonates with a lot of people, I honestly think there’s a little jealousy on the attention Marc got in those years before Alex made his own film, and Marc was well on his way to accomplishing all that can be done in that sport
I love how excited Tosh gets, but also that he's not trying real hard to be funny. The funny moments feel like genuinely learning about someone, in the same way you would with a new friend at a party. Good shit
I was prepared to say, "this guy is insane", but in fact he seems surprisingly sensible and thoughtful. As usual, solid questions and an interesting interview.
I remember watching his documentary years ago....Started this podcast and I remembered the scene when he was cooking his food in his van and eating it with a spatula...I was like Dude is committed. Tosh goes "You still eating like and idiot" Killed me🤣🤣🤣

Really enjoyed this episode - just actually finished watching Free Solo about 2 weeks ago and it's cool to hear an update versus what all I read. He should do a podcast - he's got the voice for it.

Highly recommend watching his documentary “Free Solo”. It’s one of the best documentaries of all time and will show you how amazing he is at his craft.
Free Solo had me so stressed out about his survival and his film crew/fellow climbers -- excellent in all aspects and love that he can do interviews like this

He already explained that that is not his role. And that basically he has no rules, but specifically it was no comedians.
He's the GOAT of free solo climbing, but there are many others that are climbing more difficult routes (on a rope or bouldering)

Don’t really know how good this Honnold guy is at rock climbing but since he is Tosh’s favorite, he will be my favorite too.
