Thought this sounded familiar but either I didn’t see or don’t remember the original and think Gyllenhaal (and his sister too) is great in everything he’s in so looking forward to seeing it!

Loved the movie but the series so far…eh. Two big minuses is the got rid of a major character…the defense attorney. Instead his former boss is defending him. And the actress who plays Carolyn is miscast. Carolyn is supposed to be a smart savvy prosecutor but this actress looks like she just graduated from law school.

I think it could have been his wife. Out of everyone, she has the biggest motive to do it. Think about it: she wants to save her marriage, she still loves Rusty and she’s WAY too understanding and she’s clearly not stupid.
Since she forgave Rusty the first time and Rusty slept with her again just before it, I believe she found out and did it. Then she framed it in a way no one could suspect her and maybe wanted to punish Rusty too. I believe the fibers found are hers. What do you think?

It's a fantastic show, brilliant acting and great direction.
The guy doing his high, Truman Capote voice takes me out of the scene every time, but he is a great actor.
Nico is supposed to be very pompous and douchey. OT Fagbenle said the voice was inspired by the Peck character in Ghostbusters.

I know who did it!! Episode 3. " did you love her?" That's when I made my mind up,it's his wife. She or anyone doesn't ask him that. Revenge for the first time and for not stopping the affair. She probably visited the murderer in prison for tips on how he tied the first victim up. Plus he brings his work home and she knows things.Then she's so happy watching her son playing baseball...too happy.but It throws us of by the deception that he looks guilty and did it. If I'm wrong I'll eat my hat.😂
Actually there's a good chance she might have seen case files that he had brought home at some point. But fair theory. I like it.

Did you actually watch the first movie and book? I doubt it because you would know that he's a likeable guy. We are through 6 episodes and there's almost no evidence against anyone else. It's so over the top. How many people do we need to have Jake attack? I mean he's on trail and he has to be restrained from almost killing a guy and attacks his wife? He's not likeable and that's against the book and movie. The wife is too Mary Jane, she is too perfect even though she should be the killer. This show is too over the top to be realistic. He was at her house, hit her the night she dies and she's pregnant with his baby? Poor writing. Hey, why don't we bring up that the prosecuting attorney has an HR complaint from the victim... And then continue like nothing happened. This show goes on to overwhelmingly show Jake is bad and he looks so guilty that they dropped any other decent story.
So, Im convinced that someone just couldnt hold the camera still, that Shakey camera is such a weird choice. Usually you use it if you want to portray a character POV. But this is like shoot the scene with your I phone shakey...??? Driving me insane

Reviewers probably get an early access to watch the show in order to give their opinions.
Also saw the first 7 episodes. Good mystery series but too many unlikable characters including the main character himself. I ended up not caring if he's guilty at the end or not.
