- A dual longplay / side-by-side comparison between Virtua Cop 1 for Arcade (Sega Model 2) and PS2 (PlayStation 2).
Arcade Version = Left Side
PlayStation 2 Version = Right Side
The ps2 version is more evolved (released 8 years after the arcade version, so it's perfectly normal).
but the colors and style of the arcade version are more pleasant.
On the one hand, you have the authentic arcade style, and on the other, the more realistic arcade style.
I also like the integration of dukenukem's guns to illustrate the arcade version.

I feel that the PS2 version lost a lot of the heart of the original arcade version by going for a more semi realistic aesthetic.

There is a PC port which is an arcade perfect experience, you play it with you mouse. I have played the PC port thousands of times and i loved it.
The PC version is good, but VC2 on PC was even BETTER. I had the Xplosive CD-ROM release of that. It was great.
I don't think it turned out poorly, but I would have preferred if they made it brighter. I like the more vivid look of the arcade, even with the simpler graphics, gives the objects more pop and distinction.
Yeah, same thing happened with Dynamite Deka.
How sega never released this and House of the Dead 1 on DC is nonsense. Can you imagine Gunblade NY on the DC?
I think they lost the source code, because that was the only HotD game that never got a re-release beyond the PC port of the Saturn game.

The PS2 version follows the flow of the arcade game perfectly. So it makes me wonder if it was running the arcade source code and just had all of the visual assets swapped out. File that under questions we may never have answers to.
Interesting... the same game (animations, layout etc) but conpletwly different graphics style. I don't even mean graphics quality (PS2 is better, because is newer) but Arcade version has its own personality. PS2 version has more realistic look, and Arcade version looks kind of like a comic book, which is nice it its own way.
Second Watch and thoughts. Interesting things.
1. The voice the first boss Kong on the Arcade Version/ Boss on the PS2 version sounds like rival from the Am2 18 Wheeler game.
2. It's strange that the Boss names are omitted from PS2 version.
3. On the first stage the shipping containers have different things on them. The Arcade version has Virtua! Virtua! everywhere. Not to mention possible names and 1994. PS2 version it's just random words.
4. The construction site stages. I know it's a video game but I've been around excavators they ain't that quick and maneuverable.
5. 24:09 PS2 side Really? EVL Corporation is what the bad guys are called. Enterprising Villainous Logistics Corporation
6. 25:55 Nice little touch. The Arcade version the computers screens are CRT while the PS2 version they are Flat LCD type.

!?! How you did the Arcade controls visuals was amazing. Are those custom sprites or pulled assets. If so awesome. Especially the recoil and slide coming back.

Versão de ps2: E basicamente um remake com algumas melhorias, exeto que ele rodar a 60fps e falha por ter algumas texturas borradas

How come you are playing with the Ps2 standard controller and not the GunCon?.
In this case, ps2 dull colors help more to the mood of the game, besides the new graphics give it a better look despite the lower resolution textures. Then, we have the gameplay, that I think is more appealing with a gun than a controller but it isn't as if ps2 didn't have guns. Overall, ps2 wins

Well. We know the Saturn is a pared down version of the arcade game, but allow me to simulate the average comment for such a comparison! "The Saturn version is closer to how the arcade looked than the PS2 version, so that makes it better!"

It actually plays surprisingly well with an analog thumbstick. You wouldn't think it would, but it does.

They made it into a generic looking game.
Very similar to how they made Dynamit Cop look in PS2, more realistic, less colorful, completely generic.
It's like I've always said: Even when the PS2 wins, Sega fans are gonna say the opposite.

PS2 is a good version but Arcade is better in textures and color, same Dreamcast. 60FPs is not reason to win, PS2 textures have low details and blurry
