Yeah it's mostly just Improved Blizzard for the slow + any other ranged AoE for damage. Warlocks just have the highest AoE damage with seed of corruption so they're the best option for dps. The tank's job isn't really tanking (outside of bosses), they're mostly there to catch stragglers and lead them back into the blizzard, like the one mob which resisted frost nova, or they interrupt/stun casters. So you don't necessarily need a paladin tank, a warrior or druid will do the job just as well.
A warrior or Druid will not do the job just as well. A paladin is the best because they just hold threat with consecrate, and kite tank around the slowed mobs taking zero damage. On top of that they can do massive bubble pulls, and if the healer happens to get clapped they can still Rez . They can also BOP the mage or warlock when they inevitably rip threat at some point. Druids tanks are great for bosses dog water for dungeon tanking.
I tanked spellcleave many times as prot warrior...you just stay at the first mobs and look if any of them "pull" to caster...then you just taunt/stun them or try aggro them. It is hard and you will have to WORK your a$$ off. But aoe tanking as prot warr is completely nuts and imho THE hardest thing you can do in TBC. My second char. is blizz mage and doing runs like dps is sooooooo easy. I can literally eat/drink and have fun...as prot tank i cant do any of that...and after couple of runs you fell really exhausted.
You're wrong if you think they can't balance it. They just really have no intention to do so. So the fact that some players still think there's balance in the game or think blizzard is trying to balance the game means they are doing good business. They figured out at least 10 years ago that they can't invent new spells, classes, races, and items if they want to balance the game and they can't sell new expansions without new spells, classes, races and items. So they decided to not give a sh*t about the game as far as competitive PvP goes (since it's not balanced). TBC showed the potential of the game by taking the classes and abilities towards a goal of balance for the first time and the game had 10 million players at that time. Imo it was the best version of WoW because it was simple and competitive PvP with a hint of balance. And nostalgia contributes, like I said the game was huge at that point and people remember it as such. If they had chosen a different route then WoW would have become either the most popular esports game or the second most popular one behind counter strike. But like I said they could never have added DKs and monks and demonhunters and all of this garbage into a balanced game. So it would have been incredibly hard for them to sell expansions unless for example they sold out and put BiS items in the shop, which at the time was unthinkable because pay2win games were just beginning to become a thing and the difficulty of acquiring raidloot was a key selling point. Back in TBC it became obvious that Blizzard had no intention to "fix" the game. There was an insane amount of PvP activity and plenty of feedback regarding it. Instead of adressing it they created a whole new class and released a new expansion. So people could both see the potential and see that Blizzard wasn't going to use any of it. The Esports aspect was also negligible because you only had one tournament after the end of each season, meaning the entire game would change between the tournaments so the viewers could not understand anything that was going on in the tournament. Maybe if they would've found a way to milk the esports market back then, the game would be completely different today. That's why people made their own servers. It was obvious there would never be a better version of WoW as far as PvP is concerned, and this proved to be true and is the main reason why the TBC community became so big or remained so relevant that Blizzard no longer ignored it. Some people told me they witnessed single seasons of relatively balanced PvP in Pandaria and other newer expansions but the game never became relevant again. In TBC it was at peak relevance with 10 million players, hundreds of thousands of players enthusiastic about all forms of PvP not just arenas and not much left to balance. We were insanely sad to see "how they massacred my boy". Many ideas and communities of private TBC servers showed just how much potential the game had. Thinking back this was actually the first battle royal game, but it was a private server which removed all PvE objectives to turn it into that. Blizzard never used any of the potential and never cared enough. Playing on retail back then it was obvious to everyone, they wouldn't even ban cheaters and bugusers if they broke the rules in high rated arena games. That's how little they cared about the experience and how much they cared about money. Before I quit I actually used maphacks to make it impossible for arena opponents to hit me and IIRC they only banned me for 7 days after using it several times in arenas around a 1800 rating where people took the games pretty seriously. Another example is: TL;DR -> (Remember) the guy who multiboxed 5 elemental shamans in 5v5 arenas, he couldn't lose a single game, didn't have any real skill and they didn't mind the fact that this part of the game was obviously broken because he was paying for 5 accounts. They would let you multibox 10 characters and break the game, in fact they would give you VIP treatment for owning 10 accounts. If this and the fact that they didn't even ban bugusers and straight hackers in arenas doesn't show they never cared about balance then IDK. There were a lot of broken maps where you could jump up inivisble walls and they barely even fixed those because it takes money to do so. Seeing players use these while their team had 2000 rating and seeing that GMs wouldn't do anything about that made me understand blizzard.
@@HardyMetalliX Well yeah like I said they prioritize money so they barely work on balance and it was already obvious in TBC when players were bugusing in arenas and blizzard didn't ban them and they allowed multiboxing. Oh and even the arena maps were buggy. The one with the sacrophagus still has buggy line of sight and so on in the re-released TBC version lol. Watch this video of a multiboxer in 2008 he demonstrated how broken multiboxing shamans was by killing 20 players on his own in alterac valley.
