- Solo Female Vanlife UK - I chose to go off grid in the camper van at the Kirkstone Pass Inn, Ambleside, Lake District for my first long awaited first overnighter of the year.
The Lake District was somewhere I avoided last year due to too many memories that I found painful to manage back then. Now though, I'm beginning to be able to enjoy those memories for the incredibly happy times that they were. So there will be many more Lake District trips to come.
I stayed in the car park of the Kirkstone Pass Inn with a few other vans for company. The scenery & views up there are absolutely beautiful, and there's some great walking, so it's no wonder it's a popular haunt for vanners.

Hi, I’m Sue from Lancashire, UK.
This channel is just me getting out and about in a converted VW Campervan, occasionally with friends but mostly solo. Fun, laughs, moans, groans, mistakes, and successes. It’ll all be in here!
I’ll share new places, hints, tips, any info I discover and whatever else I think you might find useful.
I’ve begun vlogging my solo travels in ‘Vanya’, to help me re-engage with life after losing my husband two and a half years ago. Working through my grief has been the hardest & loneliest challenge imaginable. Some days it still knocks me completely sideways, maybe it always will? I really don't know, but I'm coping a little better all the time.
By returning to the vanlife we enjoyed so much together, revisiting a love of photography, and immersing myself in nature, I’m regaining strength, balance, and hope to move forward through this completely unforeseen next chapter of life.

Lovely vlog and very helpful and one for our to do list - very nice views. It’s great when you go into a pub on your own and feel welcome isn’t it, and that’s how it should be. That’s scampi looked nice. It’s lovely to wake up with a great view after a quiet nights sleep, always find that magical.

We see why you both loved the place. Lovely part of the country and it has been beautifully captured in the video. It is great to see you going back there. The memories we have made are things to treasure, forever. I am guilty of not always appreciating something… at that moment, but I certainly look back with fond recollections of times we have had later on. I often hope that Oliver and Alice, one day, will at least pass an area and remember or just think to themselves “we’ve been there.” These precious memories are truly priceless. Vanya and yourself Sue are definitely making sure more memories are made; whilst of course remembering times already had. Take care and onwards! Paul, Fran and the Minions.
Thank you! I suppose we’re so immersed in the experiences as they’re happening that it’s only when the memory is all you have that you really appreciate a moment’s true value/impact. It’s great to be able to start slowly reliving them more positively now 😊. Been a hard slog to get to that point.

I really love having found your channel. Everybody keeps telling me i'm an idot for wanting to go travelling through Europe in a pop up camper van. They say i should buy one of these larger mobile Homes with all the comfort from home because i am an elderly women of 58 years of age. You show thats nonsense! In September i will start my early retirement and then i will finally live for myself and i will try to heal from my Complex ptss, letting go of the heartbreak and hurt of a very difficult life. I will keep following you and hopefully i will be able to thank you in the future when our paths should cross

If there’s one thing I’ve learned since losing my beloved and life as I knew it, it is that there’s nothing much left to fear in life and it’s up to me how I live it, where I go and what I do. Wonderful, wonderful Lake District. Spent many a weekend in the Ullswater valley and crossed Kirkstone pass on my solo camping adventure last year. Oh I can’t wait til I get my van. Brings a tear to my eye whenever you toast Bri. Great to see you out again. Xx

Purple jobs made me laugh - as a solo campervanner I often say to people that I don’t get a choice of which jobs to do …….just have to do them all!

Thanks for taking us along. Went last night with my son. Tipped it down but was lovely and snug, watched a film and didn’t get up till gone 9.30 sleep better in the van than at home.
We all seem to sleep better in the van, like we can switch off completely. Nice the sound of rain on the van when you’re all cosy inside!

I’ve visited this inn, had a meal there. Wonderful pub, amazing drive and views en route. Kirkstone Pass is one of the most stunning locations I’ve ever been to, ever!

Still, I tell myself it’s a good use of the time so that when the van finally arrives I can leave it all behind without a list of jobs nagging at me. Love going in that pub. Sure it’s supposed be haunted lol. Love going up kirkstone after spending couple hours around bowness. My daughter goes alone up there a lot. She loves the solitude.

Hi Sue that was a great place and so nice that you feel you can get back up there alone again. First camp of the season out of the way, onwards and upwards now 😀 I would have felt safe around there too in a nice pub car park with other campers.
