I remember singing this song number 83 in an old Swahili Song Book. The hymn was written by Charlotte Elliot in 1834 and various versions were published in hundreds of hymn books over the years. Each verse ended with "Thy will be done" which was later translated into Kiswahili as Upendavyo! Two verses have special meaning for me. "If Thou shouldst call me to resign what most I prize, it ne'er was mine; I only yield Thee what is Thine; Thy will be done." And another verse which says "Renew my will from day to day: blend it with Thine, and take away all that now makes it hard to say: Thy will be done." UPENDAVYO MUNGU WANGU
