Humanity Relocates To Mars But 7 000 000 Years Later Spaceship Arrives At Wrong Place

- Mankind decide to send settlers to Mars on several spaceships. The passengers are spoiled for consumption, because the ships have everything modern man needs - they are giant shopping malls. But after one of the ships, called "The Aniara", goes off course and loses control, the humans have to face unintended consequences.

how a far-future human civilization that is capable of building a space elevator, giant ship, and an entire colony on Mars is not capable to detect a giant ship (which most certainly has a massive thermal signature) is missing within the inner solar system and send a rescue ship for months- let alone years, is mind-boggling.
Well it’s obviously for the plot
Space is so large, it may as well be infinite.
its a movie bro
They make a giant ship and don't think about re-enforcing the fuel tanks.
Beurocracy happens.
so humanity made a elevator that transfer people from earth to a spaceship in space BUT THEY CAN'T BUILD A SHIELD FOR THE SPACESHIP?
Don't worry, we're working on a way to build a shield...we just have to figure out how to make it space-proof first.
so the ship was supposed to arrive in 3 weeks to Mars
even if we assume no one is contacting it during the trip it would make sense that on day 3weeks+1 they start searching.
how far could it have gone without fuel or steering...
If it was going full speed when the engines cut out it's going to keep going full speed indefinitely. There is no friction in space to slow it down like water would for a ship or air and/or gravity for a vehicle. By the time anyone found out they were off course it would be too late to mount a rescue.
The hitech spaceship with enough power to light up fully but didn't have a radio to raise a mayday 😂😂
This film is based on the book Aniara which is a book-length epic science fiction poem written by Swedish Nobel laureate Harry Martinson from 1953 to 1956.

Did he commit suicide?
Watching this it seems a suicidal serial killer wrote this depression bomb.
That's my impression. The author was suicidal and wanted everyone else on Earth to kill themselves. So he made this depressing piece of garbage hoping people started hating existence.
a ship like that would have a ton of redundant systems. They would make sure that it was completely 100% self-sufficient before it ever left earth with even backups having backups. never mind that there was no rescue attempt which i chalk up to them going as fast as any ship can away from earth space.
I know they are a future generation, but self- sufficient, back-ups, etc. ? We're talking about Human Beings here. We are far from perfect & SPACE is not fit for human life. Look at all the beneficial systems we have now & how easily one can go awry.
Indoor plumbing-leaky pipe-who's going to fix & how ?
Cars travel for miles-run on gas & oil & water-if you run out of it, it stops. Parts break. Where's the mechanic ?
Healthcare-a person gets the wrong drug-could be catastrophic. Bad diagnosis ? It happens.
Then, of course, there's human destruction, intentional. Greed, hate, selfishness, etc. We've been doing that as long as we can remember.
If we screwed up our planet, we'd probably end up EXTINCT ! Think about it. If you, as a race, destroy the only home all of you have, a home that can sustain billions, & you had no hand in its construction, what do you think the odds are that your race could come up with a sufficient LIFEBOAT or BACK-UP PLAN that could save everybody who's left from EXTINCTION ? Odds ? I think slim to none. If it got that bad, we probably deserve EXTINCTION.
I know, I'm on a tangent. Just stuff I think about sometimes. We should be doing better.
@@levitaggart5943 Sorry but you are using the wrong analogies at the beginning of your comment, and after that, you are talking about things that are not connected with the question, of how such a ship can get stranded in such a stupid fashion. A ship so massive would have many systems to alert if it gets out of course, many systems to alert the crew for any danger that might happen.
You are comparing such ships with houses and cars... If there is a problem with indoor plumbing or your car, it is not life-threatening, you are on Earth, among people, and even if you are not exactly in some city you can call and get help, that is why we are not so worried about such things and we do not build houses in such fashion, no need for that, but in space...that is another thing, a such ship must be made in such fashion to alert for anything that may endanger people who are in the ship.
But, the answer is that the movie is based on a book, Aniara, which is a book-length epic science fiction poem written by Swedish Nobel laureate Harry Martinson from 1953 to 1956. He wrote that unusual epic poem, and he needed such a ship to be stranded because the book is about loneliness, the vastness of space, and how different people would react to such an event... I highly recommend it, it is written as an epic poem which may be strange for reading but it is a really good book.
@@ozymandiasultor9480 I feel you Ozy-man, I do, but you give people too much credit. You think a ship like that would be impregnable to harm, defect, neglect, random malfunction, etc. ? There is no way, NO WAY that humans could build a spaceship that couldn't be stopped. No way. No one can anticipate ALL POSSIBLE DANGERS ! No way. Nothing can be built that won't fail. The more complex a mechanism, the more ways it can fail.
Heard of the TITANIC ? Yeah, unsinkable.
Twin towers ? 911.
The German Warmachine ? The Allies.
Space shuttle Challenger ? Ice & O Rings.
A well built wooden house in Tornado Alley ? That's right, a tornado.
If we can make it, something or someone can unmake it.
Did you consider sabotage ? On a long trip people can go stir crazy, depressed, lose a loved one & their mind. Then there's also the off chance of the ship being jacked by aliens in space.
Don't say it can't happen, because it can. I seriously doubt that we are the most intelligent & advanced race in all the universe. Do you know how devastating a hole in the fuselage of an airplane can be ? Always remember:
SHIT HAPPENS !
@@levitaggart5943 OK... You are right because that is sort of a principle... Everything that human beings will make is prone to malfunction, and the possibility of such a malfunction occurring sooner than later is proportional to the complexity of whatever that is...Germans in WW II made incredible tanks for that period but almost all suffered from overengineering...Soviets made cheap, simple but reliable T-34 and made those in such numbers, I think over 40.000 that Germans were overwhelmed.
And such a ship, so big ship will have tons of problems, of course, but there would be crew who will be ready to deal with almost any problem.
I don't know if you have read the book which is the basis for that movie, Aniara, it is written in the 50s, and the writer wrote that book as some kind of melancholic, pessimistic book about the vastness of space, how human beings are nothing, etc...But, the malfunction, I don't remember if that same thing happened in the book. A micrometeorite hit its tanks and changed its course in such fashion, and no one was able to do something?? I agree with you in principle, I don't agree with the writer if he used so lousy way to make that ship turn from the course... I know something about the protection that ISS has against those micrometeorites, and it is incredible, that such a ship can't lose all its fuel because of some measly micrometeorite.
@@ozymandiasultor9480 That's all I was saying, that there could be something that could go wrong & it could be catastrophic. A ship in space is extremely vulnerable to certain damage or malfunction. I'm sure there would be big-time back-ups, etc., but the longer the trip, the more likely a critical event could happen. I would be very concerned with crew & passengers. Feeble-minded people could sink the ship faster than a blackhole.
I've never seen the movie or read the book. Seems interesting. Hopefully humanity never suffers a horrific fate as those survivors.
Have you seen Pandorum ? Another ship of survivors on a doomed journey. Those are some seriously bad odds if you had to flee Earth on a ship like that to a distant planet. Not a pretty future.

5,981,407 years later the ship finally encounters a planet but everyone on tne ship is dead. That's messed up...probably should drop an acid tablet and trip balls.
I watched this movie. The plot hole was there was no rescue system in place for this ship, despite having the ability to build this ship.
Right!
Could be due to the evacuation effort binding all available resources.
@@Exodon2020 Right but surely they could repurpose one of the other ships or build a rescue system AFTER they get to mars....the plotholes here are huge as they lose fuel but not power and seem to have forgotten how radio works...
@tiagobaenre5973 Aniara (2018)
Logical considering humanity fucked up earth , and the last resources well put into making this ship.
By the type they were done , nothing was left to create a rescue mission from earth with.

Fantastic movie - (keep in mind its foreign language - a "read the titles" film) but gives a good glimpse of how interstellar trips can go bad in a very real way. excellent ending - great actors.

One has to be an astronomer to know there are no large gravity wells between Earth & Mars?
To be honest it would not have been against the law to build a Moon Shine still to make fuel.
They would have had to have drug or medicine stores on a ship that big.
And enough brain power to get 12 to 20 people or so to teach others what to do in emergency.
It would not have been hard to type up a small plan and take notes on what to do.
Cars use one type of fuel ,
Airplanes use Airplane fuel ,
And big ass city sized spaceships , use big ass city sized spaceship fuel.
You cant just slap a shot of vodka into it and hope to move the bitch
Ohh luckily I didn't have to watch this one in it's entirety because your channel.
They could have easily turned part of the food into fuel.
And made enough to get back.
Right! That would have worked!
See you in the next recap :)
Yeah it really didn't seem as though they tried anything other than with the probe they found. I remember thinking that they could make alcohol by fermenting the algae. It would mean overhauling the engines, but what else are you going to do for all of eternity?
Seems like that guy is always cast as the hyper macho antagaonistic boss type.
And what about the alien object?! Did that plot just go nowhere?!
I looked it up. It went nowhere. This movie is trying to make you unalive yourself. Don't watch it. It's stupid. It's stupid trying to make itself look intellectual with its edgy ideas. It's just dumb
Did they trying turning it off and on again ?
Comments are focused on the technological gaps of the ship but fail to see the point of the film.
This Earth is the ship. We are the crew members. All of us have tried material things and failed. Our mass societies are destructive because we have become destructive. And, as the grumpy lady said, there is no escape.
The earth is destroyed and people want to move to Mars, which under the best circumstances is still less hospitable than a destroyed earth. How simple minded can we be that this would be a solution?
I'm starting to think that the author wanted to paint everybody here as very punchable. Everyone was stupid or hypocritical or evil, reveling in crass commercialism and dying because they're all dummy dummy Dum dums
This isn't because of the initial explanation it's a vacation kinda
Like cruise ships today they were only supposed to be gone a few weeks and they ended up off course and will never be able to re direct the spaceship period they all die
I would love to voice over movie recaps

"Make love with each other" with what?
oumuamua. aged a million years to stone.
Eeeee freaking scary how horrible and frightening that would have been. I hope I die on this earth before anything catastrophic happens and before we're left with having to do something like this because I would never go into space, HELL NO!!! 😬
1. A suicidal serial killer wrote this script. So much negativity.
2. Humans have not evolved to travel into space. We have huge bodily demand , limited ages and need much more than survival. Fictionally they can show space cruise ship but practically it's impossible.
We should be sending self replicating AI machines to colonize space. They will represent humanity.

Too bad it wasn't this one.
What a tragedy, we are thinking of teraforming a dead planet like Mars instead of saving our own Earth 🌍
Seems a little bit stupid to think that it would be easier to terraform a dust world as opposed to the Earth.

With a pen and a paper!
Any space ship with more head space than needed is a waste. What's with the high ceilings?
The author wanted to find the worst of humanity, the most selfish rich people Hoarders and kill them all. Of course the spaceship had high ceilings. It's a sign of their extravagance, and one of the reasons why they all should die, and that's why they all die in the end. The author hated them and wanted them all to die
Horrendous adaptation. Yes, they made It pretty depressing. But thats about It. So many huge plotholes...

What a horrible movie! I'm glad I didn't watch it! Holy crap everybody svlclde!!! Come on!
I can tell this is a European movie, cause they are always depressing and degenerate (cause that's what European society is like), why would there be an "acid tablet" on a spaceship? Why do people live as roommates and not as a family? And why is he spaceship a flat rectangle and not a rotating cylinder?
Many of the comments center around saying how it would be impossible for the ship to have drifted off course and gotten lost in space. People disappear all of the time as do ships at sea and airplanes during flights. Our technology will never be completely safe.
🤮🤮🤮
Btw fuel cannot burn without oxygen.
WHY WHY WHY does every movie or show have to have gay in it , what's the point.
The voiceover sounds like it was outsourced to Afghanistan.
Lol. Why do you say that haha? :)
Don't make a space movie unless you have hundreds of millions of dollars is the main point of this crappy movie kids
The first sentence:
"This ship is stranded in space with no power and the people have decided that it's their planet now."
There is so much wrong in that sentence that it's actually quite impressive... for how amazingly idiotic this is.
A spaceship with no power means no heating, cooling, or air. So all those people are *DEAD*.
And a spaceship is not a planet.
So, narrator, you've managed to piss me off and lose my interest in the first 10 seconds of this video. Congratulations, that's a new record.
The ship presumably has solar power for its internal systems.
Worst story
In 7million years if humanity survives and keeps developing technology we will be way further advance than this😂😂😂
Another attempt by liberals to convince us that being homosexual is perfectly normal, and wholesome behavior - something we should all aspire to, and hope that our children will become.
yep.its spreading to the world like cancer
But doesn't everybody in the film, liberals, conservatives, heterosexuals and homosexuals all die?? Isn't the message rather, that we are all together on a sinking ship???
This was a horror movie attempt that was finally veiled suicide. Everything in this movie is depressing. It's not making homosexuality better. They all died. Everybody died. They're All Dead Dave
