I just graduated with an AAS in healthcare administration, I’m also an LPN of 21yrs. I’m waiting to hear from the NHA board to get licensed. I start my bachelors program in February. This information helpstremendously. Thanks Doc❤️
Hi, Happy new year 🎉, please which practice textbook do you read to prepare for your Nursing home administrator exam? I will be graduating with my BS in healthcare administration by March by God's grace and I want to do the license exam 4 Nursing home but I am in denver Colorado because I heard its varies. Congratulations 🎊 on your graduation 👏 ❤️. Thanks.
Great video, I immediately subscribed! The way you provide information is fun to watch and easy to understand. As someone who landed their first entry level healthcare job under data entry, I am interested in learning more on how to move up and grow within the field, so I appreciate all that you shared! ❤
So glad I found you! I just completed my bachelors in healthcare administration. I have an associates degree and was a medical assistant for about 5 years. My most recent job I was in administration for a small pharmaceutical program doing credentialing for PBMs, I was also their EMR/EHR coordinator. Unfortunately was laid off. Anyways. Currently feel at a loss because it’s so hard to get in the field without a RN or LVN. So disappointed. I’m thinking of getting a masters in health informatics but I’m afraid it will be the same issue. I live in Texas so not sure if it’s just in this state. I’m definitely going to look into some of those certs and memberships. Thank you!
I have had my MHA degree since 2020. I have a project management certification from Google and I’ve been, if not still a current meme we of ACHE. With all of that, I have yet to find a job. My background is social work, I’ve been a manager/director of some psych facilities but nothing that’ll help me navigate away from social service. I am currently in chicago. Finding work with my MHA here requires me to have an RN license. So the roles I believe I’m qualified for elsewhere, I’m not in Illinois. What am I doing wrong ?
Hi Mercedes, Thank you for reaching out. Based on your experience thus far, I recommend you try working with a recruitment agency as a potential option. Also, with your membership with ACHE have you been connecting and having conversations with other members?
Hi, what a wonderful video. I just stormed into your video. I have a degree in Philosophy, how can I get a degree in hospital administration Course online. I have a three year experience in working in the hospital
Hi, thanks for watching. You will need to research healthcare administration programs and pick the one that best fit your academic and career needs. All the best!
I love healthcare management but new to the system. I plan to gain my master in the program. Please, how fo I equip myself. I have always loved a leadership and administration job. My bachelors is in computer science.
This eased my mind so much. I was researching certifications to help me transition from clinical to non clinical but hearing the explanations help more. The CMM cert interests me the most since Practice manangement leadership is what I would like to do. Would you recommend me doing this to get out of MA role to leadership?
Hi Danielle, Certifications are a great way to acquire quick information about a given area in healthcare. I don't think you would going wrong by acquiring a CMM cert. All the best!
I am in the process of completing my MBA. I’ve been working in the administrative side of healthcare for the last 5 years. Do you recommend getting an MHA or should I look into an undergrad in Healthcare Administration or should I just continue attaining on the job knowledge with my goal being to operate a clinic or hospital?
As a junior in HC Management, do you have any tips on breaking into the industry? I have multiple degrees and certification, but none yet in HC Mgmt. I found it difficult to get in the door, without a certification. Such as billing, coding, etc.
Hi Shawna, Thanks for watching! I would recommend you start by applying to a few entry-level healthcare administration jobs like practice management, or office coordinator to help gain some practical experience. Also, fellowships are another excellent and often paid way to secure a healthcare management position. All the best!
I just stumbled on ur video and i must say am really glad i liked + subscribed, i graduated from public administration here in Nigeria, been an administrative assistant for 3yrs+ & wuld like to get into management roles in healthcare since i plan to relocate. Please wat courses or certifications will i need to prepare me for such roles? Thank you
Hi Vivien, thanks for watching and subscribing to the channel! A degree in healthcare management or administration can help you. However, do note that each university curriculum varies. All the best in your career journey!
What kind of certification I should do , as almost all certifications requires experience but I don't have that ,I am currently pursuing mba in healthy care
Hi, I graduated with Health Administration degree many years ago . I am trying to restart my career into the field. But I feel I need some certs to help me get into mid - senior level. What would you suggest as a good start. Any suggestions/ feedback greatly appreciated. ❤
Hi @tasmith1610... Thanks for watching, and welcome to the channel! Certifications can always be beneficial in helping land a job, especially if you have been away from the industry for a while. I would take Executive- Driven Leadership Certs. However, getting certifications is not required. To acquire Mid to Senior level positions, you need to network with executives... Attend town hall meetings, conferences or connect via Linkedin. Additionally, using an executive recruiter firm can help you re-enter the field in a mid to senior position. Check out this website www.besmith.com... All the best!
I have 9 years experience as a direct support staff for a company helping people with disabilities and a masters in public admin. Can that get me any of these certs?
Hi Hannibal, I safely say yes but I always recommend you read the enrollment criteria before applying or spending money on getting a certification. All the best!
Thank you for this video. I will be graduating from SFSU with a bachelors degree in business administration with concentration in management. I want to working in the healthcare industry but I don’t know if my degree will matter compared to one in healthcare administration or if it doesn’t matter. Can you guide me or individuals like myself with this degree but wants to work in healthcare ? I will definitely do the certifications or whatever else I need to stand out to get the role. Thank you for your time !!!
Hi Veronica, thanks for watching and welcome to the channel! Check out HealthIT.gov they have various resources to prepare for HIT certifications or courses. Regarding studying time, it depends on you as the learner… if you already have some training or education about the HIT, anywhere from 3 months to 1 year is usually sufficient to study for a certification. All the best!
