Finally really sound of sire basses. Others over slap on bass. Thanks. Can I almost get the same sound/tone with v7 neck and p7 neck? Which is best v7 or p7?
@@churchbass3 If you want that open jazz bass sound then go for the jazz, otherwise the P7 offers that classic precision bass sound, and with lots more variety.
Best demo. I appreciate how he doesn’t just play funk and goes to some straight ahead jazz.
Best sire demo I have seen. Great playing and no pointless shit. Awesome mate!
Hands down the P7 over the V7. The P7 has more meat to its sound. The V7 sounds thinner. A day late, a dollar short! I wish I had checked out your vid 2 weeks ago! I already purchased the V7 2 weeks ago. Nice vid, tasteful playing. On the V7 I guess I’ll turn up the bass. 👍✌️
They're both great but don't worry the V7 has plenty of meat to its tone! Great preamp too.
Just received my new P7 4 string today. Similar to yours but in a natural finish. That P pickup is really good as you've shown in your video. Amazing value and the fit, finish and setup on mine was perfect. It also weighs in at 3.9kg so not too heavy. Thanks for the great demo! It actually convinced me to go for the P7, but the V7 looks and sounds great too. I just like that fat P bass sound a bit better for the style music I play.
Great to hear man, glad the video helped!
My V7 is better than my expansive Fender AM II - it is unbelievable!
What a nice instrument!!!
Thx to Sire and Marcus Miller ❤️
Definitely the best Sire demo on UA-cam! Can you tell me about the necks on the P vs the V - are they both slim Jazz-style necks? I don't have the biggest hands so have veered towards slim neck basses like my Ibanez SR300 or Yamaha TRBX504. My first bass was a cheap P copy, I miss it's tone, but not it's tree trunk slab of a neck! Really liking the idea of the P7 at the moment tonally...
Thanks man! Yeah the P7 neck is pretty much a Jazz Bass neck. The V7 Vintage also has a jazz neck, however has a more 'U-shaped' style profile, so it certainly has a chunkier feel to it. They are both comfortable to play. If you want that fast slim neck, then I would advise you go for a P7, or if you want the Jazz variation, the standard V7 - that model has a thinner neck than the V7 Vintage. The P7 has got so much tone with a great 'thud' to it and the playability is perfect for me personally. Its a great bass with quite a scope of tonal options.
@@AdamR Thanks for the quick answer! I use my Yamaha with flatwounds and the Ibanez with roundwounds for rockier stuff, but it doesn't cut through with the punch of a P bass. It looks like the Ibanez is going to get replaced! Something new to play with while I'm waiting for the Sire U5 to become available, I've fancied a short scale bass for a while, Sire seem to be doing some amazing stuff for great prices.
@Robert Kaufmann Depends on where you're ordering from. There are a lot of dealers internationally that stock them. However, there main website, where you can order directly from them is www.sire-usa.com
@Robert Kaufmann It’s April 2021. Pretty much everyone is carrying them now. West Coast ( Music Store Live, Pitbull Audio) East Coast ( Chuck Levins, Guitar Center). Music Store Live has excellent customer service and will even pay return shipping. Ask for Ben!
Nice lines on All the things you Are! And thank you for playing the right chords in the bridge!
man... I'm even more confused now. After this I want both of them, they sound so different and beautiful.
Awesome playing!
Thanks man!
So far the best Sire demo on youtube.
Thanks man!
can someone comment _does the Vintage feature locating the pick up slightly closer to the bridge make that much a difference to the tone ❓ any other identifiers to the Vintage ❓
Got my P7, sounds amazing thanks!
Both of the basses has clean tone, I already has a Sire P7 bass, I might get a v7 bass maybe to complete my collection.
They're great, I highly recommend!
Here's my demo of the V7 Vintage - ua-cam.com/video/SX7wSDoLumk/v-deo.html
Really nice demo. Well done.
Great playing young man!
Thanks man!
Hey Adam,
I’m a bassist in a coverband (disco, pop, dance)
I have a p bass but i found it to be a bit limiting.
I have tried both but i don’t which one to get.
Which would you recommend?
Hi Julius! The Sire P7 has the bridge pickup as well, gives you an alternative and improves versatility in my opinion but not the same sonically as a jazz with both pickups on. Depends on what sound you're after!
Hey!
I'm looking for a Bass very versatil to play rock, jazz, funk ect... with a good body that you can feel in a band, my old squier P don't do the job for this...
Whitch is the best for you between P7 and V7?
Anyway, thanks for you'r very good videos! Keep going!
Thanks man, well traditionally a P Bass can be great for rock and offers a lot of bass which you can certainly feel! If you want a bit more mids present a jazz bass is a good option. However the P7 offers a lot of those tones. If you are after that full on Jazz bass tone, then that is the way to go. Both very versatile but with differences. I would seriously recommend trying them both out. Have another listen to the tone of the basses in the video again, especially when I'm using both pickups to try and figure out the range of sonic possibilities you are after.
@@AdamR Thanks for your time and your advice!
I look forward to the end of the containment in my country to run try them :D
Great video!!! You could play a wash Tub bass and it would probably sound great !!!
Personally I lean toward the Jazz v7. Both are nice sounding. But that jazz sound just does it for moi. Nice demo.
Thanks man!
Id never buy one of those budget bass fender knock off.
nice sound amazing playing
Thanks man!
Very well done Adam. I choosed the V7 snd generation. I prefer JB sound. What DI do you use for recording ? Thanks
I have a fretless V7 that just jams. At $450.00 it was a steal. It's my go to bass for sure.
Great video! What do you think, what suits better to genres like rock, funk, blues? P7 or V7, and also, your opinion for determination among Swamp Ash and Alder?
I would say go for the P7 and alder is the most common and I rather like it; the swamp ash is just a tad brighter. Depends on the exact bass swell.
Both great basses. The P7 suits me better. I have a P7 and an M3. Sold my V7.
Great bass!
I’m on the fence between the two. I’m leaning towards the p7 because I already own a fender jazz.
How does the p7 compare to the m3? Thanks
@@barondavis5692 It depends on your style of music. The P7 will get you all of the oldschool tones. The M3 more modern tones. I sold both basses and now have a Fodera Yin Yang bass with PJ pickups. It's very expensive but sounds and plays amazingly.
bassistdc thanks for your reply. Leaning away from the M.
P7 sounds better. Sold my V7. Getting one to go with my Fender American Deluxe Dimension 5 string. Five string P7 for me.
Im sold on the P7
Yeah its a great bass, I'm sure you won't regret it!
Hi Adan. Nice video.
Just received my P7. Im a beginner.
Can you tell me how to tone the bass to get that smooth sound?
Tank you, and keep the videos coming.
Great demo, great sound, great playing! 5*
how good they both sound.
The sharpest slaps in the v7? and more body on p7?
I want a sire 7. to study, have fun, play pop, some rock, blues, funk...
I don't know which... I love them both... I can only 1.
V or P? what would you do?
They're both great basses. My advice? Try them both and then go by instinct for the one you feel better in your hands. Music is a matter of personal feelings and taste for the most part, and different people feel things in different ways. So, trust yourself, because in any case with either the P7 or the V7 you won't go wrong.
Hi Adam, great video very helpful!
can you tell me what strings you're playing on the P7 ?
Hi there, I'm using standard labella white nylon tape wounds. Thanks man!
Great demo and play. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks man!
You are really good player :)
Only saw 1 guitar being played, which one was this
Great demo, thanks Adam!
Just a quick question: is the neck on the P7 any different than on the V7? I mean more like the chunkier P neck or just as thin as the jazz-type neck? Thanks!
Thank you! It's around the same as a a jazz-type neck!
Stopped for the demo, stayed for the music. Well played!
Thanks!
They both sound great (in your hands). The V7 seems to have a more percussive attack (& slightly more highs). The P7 has a little more bottom. I have a (4 str) V7 & I just got a (5 str) P7. Love them both! And, my main instrument is saxophone (soprano, alto, tenor)... I have dabbled in the lower frequencies for quite a few years, though....
actually, the v7 has more lows, the p7 has more low mids
Thanks man, I agree!
very nice review, you sound great man, both are very good, but i vote the V7 vintage because the tone is more versatile
Hey, I am going to start learning bass and will pick one of these. Can you tell me why the V7 is more versatile? Thaught PJ would be best of both world
*Thought
@@fynn5783 the sound of jazz bass is more suited to different styles
Hi Adam,
well your demos..!
What ropes did you put on?
Flatwound?🤔
Thanks man, these were Labella white nylon tape wound strings!
Amazing video and playing! Any opinion on the Adler vs Swamp Ash P7 body?
Thank you! Swamp-ash is a little brighter sounding and the alder has a little more mids and sustain.
Thanks a lot for the informative video! I was wondering how the humming on these basses is when you’re using just one single coil pickup at a time, and when you’re using both the bridge and neck pickup on the P7. Your recording and playing is great, you got a new sub :)
Thanks man, well to be honest there really isn't any, even when switching between all three options. I have got tape wounds on at the moment, but even when I was using the stock D'Addario nickel wounds I didn't notice any, so there shouldn't really be anything.
@@AdamR Thanks a lot! I'm really considering one of these basses. I think i'm gonna wait until april before deciding, since there should be a new model on the way (v5, passive jazz bass) that sounds promising.
@@BootedSquirrel Yes I heard about that too. Sounds interesting and shouldn't be to heavy either!
Nice playing bro
Thanks man!
great comparison of the sound between these two models, thanks! :)
P7!!! A bass that does it all...
I did all this in the music store, I walked away with the P7. It's my choose. I don't think you can go wrong either way at the price.
Great bass!
P7... cause i hv a jaguar and i’m used to that phat tone...
Haha, yes indeed!
Sires are always a cool choice beside Squiers and Fenders.
Love the colors...looking for 2nd gen V7..in simular color
Very cool cool brother
how comfortable is the neck ? Im looking for jazz bass type neck .Unfortunatley PBASS NECKS ARE TO BIG FOR MY HAND SIZE
hi mate ! that's a nice video u got here ! I wonder what EQ you used for the mix ? Did you record with an amp or a DI or something ? cheers
Hi mate, thanks! Yeah I recorded the bass using a DI and the EQ is flat.
Came here for the diffrence, i own a 5str v7 going to get a p7 4 str. I stayes for the amazing play!
Loved it!
Thanks man!
Which one was which?
which feels better to play?
Quite honestly, I already had my choice: and I pulled the trigger on a natural p7 5er
But as I found myself mumblin on an ash v7 (transreddish like some of yours over here, but with ‘60s positions) I’m glad I’ve discovered your review
Brits rule (for a reason)
‘nuff said considerin’ I’m italian
Thanx mate
Also, subbed!
I play in a versatile band , which one You recomend me
great video. can you do a direct comparison between your p7 and p bass? would be really cool!
Thank you! Yes, I am working on that demo currently, it should be up by Thursday.
Here it is - ua-cam.com/video/GLKL3SuWuv4/v-deo.html
P7.I like the chunky neck pickup.
Nice tones and nicely demonstrated too... thanks!
Curious on the P7, is that a swamp ash version?
Thanks man, yes it is!
man i'm in love, you play so easily, see this video you think that bass is so easy, teach me how play the bass
Is there any reason why V7 bridge pickup is different from P7 one ? Love the P-bass!)
Yes, the bridge pickup on the V7 is further towards the bridge - 70's style. The P7 has the most common or 60's style pickup spacing, with the bridge pickup slightly closer to the neck pickup. The 70's spacing is a little thinner sounding when using just he bridge pickup, maybe a few more mids, and the 60's is perhaps a little more balanced and full.
@@AdamR oh, that makes sense. Thanks a lot! So does it mean that the V7 regular (not Vintage) bridge should sound the same like P7's ? Have you ever tried it?
@@alexal9736 Yes, it will sound very similar.
@@AdamR in regards of the position, the bridge pickup for the V7 that got its 70s position is the Vintage series, if I'm not mistaken? For the regular 'non-Vintage' series, does it comes with that 60s position just like the P7?
@@KhalilImani Hi man, yeah that's right. The regular V7 and P7 have the 'standard' 60s pickup spacing, whereas the V7 Vintage have the 70s pickup spacing (with the bridge pickup further back).
What DI or what Amp and Cab and Mic?
Great playing, great demo. Man, it's SO tough to pick. They both sound fantastic. I own the 1st gen P7 and LOVE it. The P sounds fatter overall, but the jazz has a little more sizzle, but a bit thinner sounding. I also own nothing but Levy's straps, just like the one you have. They're the BEST, and so is Sire. Will never touch a Fender again. Never liked them anyways, but the Sire runs circles around it.
This Sire bass sounds good like the P7 bass, it has really clean tone.
I agree, cheers!
Excellent playing and comparison. I play a V7 vintage and it's my main gigging bass.(I did replace the stock Pups for Dimarzio Model J DP123s, and it's a beast now). With Sire's active preamp, there's no sound I can't get. I have tried to like PJ basses, and I just don't, regardless of the manufacturer. In theory, you think you're getting the best of both worlds, and they end up falling short, IMO, never really nailing an authentic J or P sound. Fingerstyle with both PUPs on is OK, but I truly hate the slap tone of a PJ (which you didn't demo here). The only time I dig it is when companies reverse the P PUP, as on a Warwick Streamer or Spector. Anyway, I'm sticking with my V7. Thanks.
I was thinking that too today, like why do t they put the jazz pickup right up on the neck and move the p towards the bridge a tiny..........less slap space I suppose
Sounds interesting, would be cool to hear that bass. It's a great, solid instrument.
Nice touch you've got there young man.
Some of them jazz licks makes me think of the Ed Friedland Jazz Soloing book which I must pull out.
Anyway, whereEVER you've studied, you're inspiring me, for sure.
Thank you.
Thanks man!
I am now more confused about which one i like best... Nice soloing! Is that a scotts bass lesson strap?
Get both like I did. The v7is my five rite but the p7 is close 2nd.. Love them both.
Is your V7 1st or 2nd Generation? Thanks.
Mine is a 1st Generation.
Which one 1st Gen or 2nd Gen? Sire Basses you are demonstrating?
1st here
@@AdamR Ok thanks I just bought a 2nd Gen P7, love it!
P7 GOT MORE BOTTOM..FUNKY
hi, please tell me, ..which of the 2 has deeper bass?
Jazz bass has more low frequencies happing there. P bass has more of a low mids bump, often portrayed as thump or ohmf and *usually* fitting more easily into a mix.
You are not asking me but I recently purchased a P7 2nd Generation, You'll be surprised to find that they use two 9V batteries so the electronic are powerful thus low are very good. Just the way I have felt mine.
@@ruanof7 thank's
