I watch all your videos even though I don’t have an RV and likely will not (can’t convince my husband to try it)! I enjoy them just to see where you are traveling. I can only travel on a limited basis now but I plan to retire this year and hope I can finally have time to travel then! You are so lucky to have work and retirement that you love! I hope I can find such a happy balance!
Such a beautiful place to camp. Bo was having himself a good time. Mike, so glad you weren't sick for long. We love y'alls channel. Stay safe and warm.
I love that video as it is all about having fun. I have a trailer but only camp in the summer. I would love to winter camp and so I always check out winter camping on UA-cam. Usually the clips are instructions on what is done to keep warm and what to do keep your pipes from freezing. I liked your video because it was all about having a wonderful time in the RV during the winter. I am a seasonal camper from Nova Scotia Canada and once people winterize their units, they think it is over for the season because the electricity and water is turned off. The campers are still allowed in during the wintertime, once your unit is winterized, you could still go to the park. I would love to get a port-a-pottie and do some adventures in the winter. In my opinion as long as your unit is winterized and cook your meals outside to protect your RV or go to a restaurant to eat you can still have a blast with winter activities.
Thanks for including our story in your video! And thanks for starting up this event; we have now taken this trip every January for 5 years and look forward to doing it for many more.
We were just there this summer! Super nice. I love the UP. I was born and raised in Grand Rapids but now live in Alabama. Everyone needs to visit Michigan!
When I was a child in Lansing Michigan we had an elk hound. She loved winter snow. She wanted to be outside most of the time during the winter. During the summer we would take her when we would go blue berry picking for wild blue berries. She would find the patch but we had to pick quickly before she would eat all the ripe blue berries. She used to put her mouth over the bush and get all the ripe berries and leave the green ones.
Enjoyed your winter experience via YT. I grew up in MI and went to NMU in the UP so always like seeing it. Currently live in warm Phoenix away from the snow & cold so best for us to experience winter in the UP this way!! 🙂
Thanks for the wonderful video and the opportunity to live vicariously through you for a bit. I have only been to the U P in the summer but I would love to go in the winter!
my husband and I rented out our 3 story home to live in an RV for a year, this is our first time ever owning one let alone living in one. We are in Colorado during the winter. love your video and so far loving the RV life feeing blessed.
We often only use electric heaters rather than the trailer heater when winter camping, unless it is really cold and then we use both. Great video by the way! I discovered you last year as I was looking for information on winter rv camping - there aren't a lot of videos on winter camping and most are targeted at stationary stays rather than the few days as is the case in this video. Thank you!
What a great trip and beautiful area! Thanks for sharing your journey to Paradise. :) (Glad you recovered quickly from that bug, Mike!) It was really great meeting you both at the Tampa show yesterday. Dean & Sherry
How about doing a video showing what you do to prepare the RV for winter camping and how you camp out there in the cold for four or five days without water?
I too would like to know more on this as I'm in MI just bought a motorhome but was told I have to head South in the winter cuz you cant live in this through winter.
Hi to you all! We love to visit the U.P. This past summer we were in Ramsay, Ironwood and Black River Harbor. I hope to winter camp in the U.P. Someday the snow is beautiful and no bugs! Thanks for sharing.
What a GREAT video and beautiful location! This encourages me to get out in my RV in spite of the cold temps (very much an inexperienced newbie) and to find community with whom to share and enjoy.
🌲❄️🌲❄️🌲I agree with Jennifer, I’ve always wanted to live on the UP since the first time I visited when I was in college over 30 years ago. It’s truly a magical and tranquil place.♥️
It's great to see people enjoying our beautiful U.P. in the wintertime. I've been a Yooper for my entire life of 65 years and have enjoyed every minute of it! Have you ever been to the U.P. in the summer? The campgrounds on the Lake Michigan and Lake Superior shore line are wonderful!
I’m just here for the Elk Hound. Winter is their prime habit. They are a member of the ‘Spitz’ dogs and skeletons of them over 12,000 years old have been found. The best dog ever for your kids. They are aloof to strangers but dedicated to their own family. When we travelled ours couldn’t wait to jump in our big van. She could never settle with just one of our 3 kids. She was constantly shifting between them. You see how they love the snow. Ours would shovel her head under the snow. They are such clean dogs, they rub themselves on the snow and have clean coats. Ours took turns each night sleeping with each kid ending up with our youngest and they would sleep neck on neck. A better baby sitter you will never find. When our oldest kid was finally ready to be trusted to baby sit the other 2, we would give the dog the run of the house and we knew she would never permit a stranger to get into the house.
It's already too cold for me on Maryland's Eastern Shore! I would love, however, to visit Mackinac Island in the summertime. Still a great video and great tradition for you guys.
Respect for you not being elders but enjoying life to the fullest in Road Trip, especially when all same age group are bound in homes or just walk a while. Good luck for informative knowledge.
We spent some time in the Upper Peninsula this past June. We spent a day at Tahquamenon Falls and State Park. It is a beautiful place. My and our girls went down to the falls and loved it. The girls nicked name the falls Rootbeer Falls they said it looks like Rootbeer flowing over the fall. I didn't get to explore I was nursing my knee I had fallen a week before and tore the ligaments. We than went onto a Harvest Host Site The Gourd Barn in Maran Michigan it really peaceful and beautiful. The host were amazing. We are planning to go back again. I just told Rick and week camping in the snow would be fun. Not sure I would want more than a week. Your puppy had a ball. So glad you only had a 24 hour flu. Travel safe!
Subscribed for Bo. I'm about to get my first RV, the plan is to full time in it for a year or two. This video helped me be a little less scared of winter. Thanks!
I camped with my husband at the Straits State Park in St Ignace in 1997. I went alone, as a widow, 20 years later. I love the UP. I met a couple from FL that had been travelling in a Roadtrek for 6 months. That's what I'd love to do.
Just wanted to drop a comment and say YOU guys are the ONLY reason we accepted a work camping job at Pete's Lake (Hiawatha National Forest off Hwy 13) last July, Aug, Sept! By doing so we got to explore all the places you talk about in this video and the BigMc Bridge!! Thank you for your videos and Podcast! You might see us at your next winter adventure there! Thanks again! Lynette (I had never heard of the UP until listening to your podcast!
Lol with Bo taking a rolling snow bath. My Pekingese pup does the same. He adores the cold and snow...doesnt do all that well in hot weather and needs extra TLC in the heat. Have never been to MI but hope to do that during my travels. Just got over the flu (12days). Glad you recovered so quickly, Mike. Jen, love your mittens...that's just the trick for warm hands.
Good to know the stock Unity tires do well on snow / ice. We are taking delivery in a few days and will be without water for 3 days. We are new to macerator toilets, always had gravity. Can we just pour antifreeze in bowl and use macerator to flush, without having the water pump running? Or is the macerator working only if the water pump is on? Thanks, our decision to sell our Breeze diesel pusher and go with a Unity TB was greatly influenced by you.
Thank you so much for sharing! I live in south Louisiana and it's unlikely (never say never!) that I'll ever get up there in the winter, so I love seeing these adventures. The snowshoe hike looks awesome!!!
We have the same RV ( Unity TB 2020) and live in a very snowy region of Quebec. Did you install winter tires or are you using the original tires your unit came with ?
May I suggest a flu shot Mike? You three are lovely, thought I'm partial to Bo. When I grow up I want to be just like you. Maybe soon I can take my Colombian bride up there to experience it. I lived in Massachusetts, but she wants to see snow. Great video. God bless.
Love the video, especially when the man came down with the flu...like all us men we want to push forward but need a wonderful n beautiful woman with us to help keep us steady n healthy!

I really enjoyed this video. Winter is not my favorite time of year. I spent the first 36 years of my life in northern Indiana working outside in the winter. However, the hiking and camping looked like a lot of fun. I don’t know if I would enjoy it as much as Bo did though. The good food shared with good friends certainly looked great. Thanks for sharing, Paul from Texas
I'm down here in Florida where our weather has finally cooled a bit (only 75 today). I've been praying for some real winter but I may have to settle for watching your videos. It looked beautiful where you were. I hope I'll get the chance to see the UP myself someday!
Enjoyed the video as we visited the UP and the same restaurant and campground in late Oct-early Nov. Colors were ridiculously beautiful then, could rival New England for sure. Our only problem was most if not all the private campgrounds/resorts were closed for the season and some of the state parks had already closed their bathrooms. By the end of our trip even the dump stations were closed which is a serious problem. I believe they closed the dump station at the campground you stayed in on the last day we were there. You can usually find water somewhere and you can run the generator to charge you batteries when there is no electricity, but when you gotta dump, you gotta dump. Was wondering if you guys ran into a similar problem in you winter camping?
I’m enjoying ur videos, sooo much snow. Would u put a link to where u got the fur mittens large enough to put gloves in under them. Thanx Jennifer . Hubby 💕 luvs winter me not so much
Thanks you two for the Video i have been waiting for it to see, and love it, I have been all over the UP on my sled in the winter but camping i tried to get the group of guys i sledded with to try camping but they look at me like i was Crazy, a friend of ours i worked with has a cabin next door to the falls and he goes up all the time, we love up there in the winter but the wife not so much, Thank you so much for sharing
I'm loving your winter snow adventures!!! I was picturing the beautiful scene as Jen described the blue skies and snowy day. The snow just glistening in the sun but I'd have to get me some of those big giant fur mittens since this Californian would be freezing up there! I'm hoping to get a travel van soon, do you have videos on winterizing your RV when you travel to freezing places?
Would love to know more about winter (cold-weather/snow) gear. I am from Texas, but want to go RVing in Colorado (and likely more later) ... but have no clue about surviving truly cold weather (in approximate comfort). Layers or not enough room for layers? Shoes for ice/snow covered ground? Brands and suggestions? Clothes, blankets, "tech" (space heater, nor space heater?)... Being from Michigan, I am sure you have cold-weather down and obviously seem to have the cold-weather RVing down. Suggestions for those of us that had 70 degree weather just a week or 2 ago (in December) would be awesome. :)
Did you winterize the van before you left? Were you able to use the water and septic in the van? I loved seeing this and really like the Leisure Travel Vans......Hugs from blizzardy Minnesota
Question: we have a small trailer so when we want to head into town for whatever, our unhooked tow car is how we get there. You have to unhook utilities and use your RV? Do you mark your now empty site?
Hi Mike. I saw the antenna on your camper in the parking sequence. Found you on QRZ. Did you get a chance to be active on the radio from the UP? What type of antenna is that and what rig do you use? My Wife (KB9BAL) and I (WB2UFO) just bought a Coachman Sporscoach class A to replace the class c we sold 6 years ago, the longest we have not had some form of camper since we were married 45 years ago. Thanks for the great video. I truly enjoyed all but the part that had you in bed under the covers. Larry WB2UFO
Re: winter road driving; what is the weight of your van and how fast were you going that you felt comfortable driving at on those icy roads? , did you feel your rig slide at all? Cheers 🍻
My memory of winter roads in the UP of MI are more snow-covered rather than icy. Big difference. When I moved to Alaska, where it doesn’t snow quite as often but there is more snow/thaw action - then I discovered icy roads. I’d take MI any day in that respect.
De Frost thanks, they looked shiny black icy with snow in his video, thats why i was wondering, so i guess it was just new roads that looked icy. Yeah i agree there’s a difference thus my question. Cheers 🍻
In one of the LTV marketing videos Dean clearly stated that their travel vans where designed as 3 season vehicles, winter operation not so much. He provided no detail but the inference was that the systems weren't design to operate in winter conditions. Are there modifications you have made to counter that statement or is he possibly referring strictly to personal comfort?
The mittens were a gift to Mike. I don't know where our friend bought them. He also gave us both a rabbit fur hat. Some place in Michigan our friend purchased them.
Did you have to winterize your water lines with antifreeze? You are on the road all the time, was wondering if you winterized your lines every time you go from warm temperatures to colder temperatures
What a beautiful place! I would love to go on a trip like that! I have never been to the UP Michigan but plan to go there now,

I lived less than 10 miles from the shore of Lake Superior from '84 o '97. Still miss it. So envious of your trip. 💓
Bo is SUCH a rock star! I love how he has his own theme song. He looks so happy.
That was fun! Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. You have lovely smiles.
Such a beautiful place to camp. Bo was having himself a good time. Mike, so glad you weren't sick for long. We love y'alls channel. Stay safe and warm.

Great video!! I loved seeing Bo enjoying the snow. Beautiful park!
I've always loved the Tahquamenon Falls area . Thanks for sharing your adventure .

I’m a yooper now living on the Canadian/Minnesota border. Love seeing this video!!!! Vacation homes and camping are plenty in the UP ❄️
My favorite video yet! Bo was having such a good time. Makes us feel brave to winter camp.
It's like Bo photo bombed every scene :-)

@@jakemf1 We bring bottled water to drink and use anti freeze to flush.

Got to ask, where did you get the mittens.? I want to get my sister in-law a set. Though look great.

Are you water lines for your shower inside the RV for winter showers?
I am from Newberry living in Florida now.
Idk, I think I'd use chains anyway. It could help on an iced over road surface. 😲

He provided no detail but the inference was that the systems weren't design to operate in winter conditions. Are there modifications you have made to counter that statement or is he possibly referring strictly to personal comfort?
we have been to the up, in late august, the weather was mostly rain and clouds. Michigan is a beautiful state. did you both get your flu shots?
I got a flu shot Mike will get his this coming week.
very good, I am a retired pharmacist. I hope next year he gets on in sept or oct
Jennifer, I need those warm mittens, too. Please share name brand and where you purchased! Thanks!
The mittens were a gift to Mike. I don't know where our friend bought them. He also gave us both a rabbit fur hat. Some place in Michigan our friend purchased them.
Jennifer Wendland So you’re saying they are rabbit fur?
Great video! Come on up to Alaska!
Mike, we are to old to shovel snow now!
Did you have to winterize your water lines with antifreeze? You are on the road all the time, was wondering if you winterized your lines every time you go from warm temperatures to colder temperatures
We have a 2020 UnityIB
Great show!!!! Question, where is your spare tire on your RV?
Great introduction to Winter camping! Do you carry tire chains?
You sure do go to great lengths to avoid the black flies.
My wife loves Jennifer’s mittens. Where did she find those?
We honestly don't remember. REI? Bass Pro Shop? Cabellas? Probably one of those places. Or not?
Do your holding tanks have heaters?
When camping in the winter what do you use for water and flushing toilet
