The assassin, via Dave's assistance, knew to call McCall specifically for the Lyft ride. Dave set McCall up because he knew that McCall would eventually figure out that Susan's murder was an inside job. Look at Dave's face when his wife brings McCall into the dining room. Shocked that he's still alive, then made with the telephone call. Excellent scene...
