A Tribute to Lawrence Ferlinghetti

The Chronicle presents a multimedia evening of poetry, song, art and literature honoring the life and words of the late, great San Francisco poet, activist and bookstore owner. Among those participating: Poets Tongo Eisen-Martin and Jack Hirschman, author Gary Kamiya, musicians Lane Murchison, Allison Lovejoy, and the Quivering Fringe quartet.

Great project. I have enjoyed it remembering Lawrence and his wonderful life dedicated to us, the people. Two wonderful exhibitions of his art at the IIC, three books of Italian poetry, published in collaboration with the Italian government, a 25 years long friendship with the Italian community since my arrival to the city. Grazie, Lawrence! Grazie Nancy Peters and Citylights, Grazie Mauro, Grazie San Francisco Chronicle. We will never forget you.

Such a beautiful presentation. We were so honored to host his personal photographs, poems and writings at Harvey Milk Photo Center, Nov 2019, which Lawrence joined us! A magical afternoon and a beautiful exhibit.
