- German painter and sculptor Anselm Kiefer discusses the meanings behind some of his favorite materials, including straw, cow manure, and lead. He describes how he strives for fluidity and malleability in his work, though conservation can be a challenge.
Kiefer on art, history, and how they're both subjective: • Anselm Kiefer: History...
Watch Kiefer apply molten lead to a canvas: • In the studio with art...
I haven't been so awed by any artist in a long time. Strangely, I wasn't aware or familiar with his work. The first images I saw of his work reached something deep inside me. Of course, I can also see some of the things I hate about artists and celebrity. But that aside, his work holds me like few works of art do... And the scale of his pieces!! Astounding. I am thankful that I found his works. It is a privilege.
This was a wonderful listen. I love his ideas. I love how the interviewers can barely keep up.
It's fascinating to see an artist accepting the changing nature of the material world. It forces you to think of the idea and nature of what a painting should be. While we tend to idealize the permanence of painting but he embraces the change. For him it's organic and it's a growing or decaying thing. To decay is not a bad thing as it is still a change and if it frustrates you, he wants you to accept it. Fascinating stuff!
Absolutely wonderful! Kiefer understands painting and its evolution...the importance of material in contemporary art and how the artist express his thoughts through material and not simply colour. Many art lovers understand a picture but they dont fully understand the process and the years until the artist finds his own medium to develop an image...it takes a few seconds to make a painting but it takes a lifetime to become a great artist. I have seen Kiefer`s work at Tate in 2005 after that I have never stopped painting!
I'm in love in all of your art... You don't have limit, I don't have words.
So in Between order and chaos
estonish us dear !!!
Thanks to you for this sharing.
Bien à vous.
One of the living masters!
Awesome artwork
Amazing art
I love this dude sm
I’m an artist from Lusaka, Zambia and I can relate to trying to get people to sponsor your art. Like convincing people about your vision is hard
Do you have any of your work online?
Kiefer was very lucky to be acknowledged and appreciated from the 1990 ies on and earning a lot of money, changing his properties into bigger ones, now he lives in France on a huge property, you cannot imagine how big it is. I think he doesn't even realize how lucky he was.
@@sl5154 yes some exist on my VSCO account
“Color as object, not as illusion.” ----- Anselm is, like Werner Herzog, a masterful mischief maker. A living master. “Some way between order and chaos.”
love him
I'm Artist painter from Algéria I love your work
❤❤❤Artist Francis Antony Kodankandath, Kerala, India
No music..thx!
If you put cow manure on there it will have a nice smell for the museum visitors :)
Es un trabajo notable como convertir los desechos de la industria en una expresión plástica jj
will the straw last?
Il est dommage que certaines de ces oeuvres ne tiennent pas dans le temps (plusieurs matériaux) comme ses oeuvres exposées au Louvre qui ont dû être restaurées...
Sinon Anselm Kiefer est un grand Artiste...🎨
Karya Maha Super👍🏻❤
does someone buy it?
Anselm Kiefer is the greatest painter, ever; even greater than Matthias Grünewald. Most of the critics don't know that, but maybe in a hundred or a thousand years, most will. Most of the critics today think Gerhard Richter is, but I think that his art will be forgotten. Who could possibly forget the art of Anselm Kiefer?
Woops, forgotten already ! What did he do again ?
Genial
Maestro
lead and gold?
what does he mean?
to be lead as a way to get old?
lead is a chemical element and its ordinal number is 82 and its symbol is Pb
Wonderful stuff. The greatest living artist for sure.
Ich finde die Bildformate zu klein. Für das Geld muss es größer oder billiger werden mit dem Verteilen von Kunstmaterialien.
Me gustaría en español
Ohhhh...Francis Bacon und Anselm Kiefer könnten sich verstehen.
Sounds like Jurgen Klopp.
It would have been useful, if somebody had stop the pianist practising in the other room!
Ok.
Pues vaya porquería de trabajos. No le encuentro mérito alguno a esos montones de garabatos hechos sin más que depositarlos como el que llena un contenedor de basura.
Bullshit, in every sense! From the concept to the paintings, don’t know which one is worse. He will be forgotten after his death very quickly
i feel bad for him but his paintings are wow🥰😇
I hope so. He is stuck in 1946-1950. Never understood the concept of gentleness, forgiveness, empathy, softness, poetry. Poor Wim Wenders tried to make a documentary about him ...
