    I did my gleba almost the same way as i did all the other planets. Click-drag a long line of factories, build stuff and be done with it. The only difference with gleba is that you need to do things in loops. The setup in this video has every building as an individual factory and has its own lines, but if you use loops, then you can make long lines of factories. In my setup, i put spoilage and nutrients onto the same belt, which goes around in a loop. Inside the loop are 2-3 factories which turn spoilage back into nutrients. On the outside of the loop, is the main layer of factories which do all the production. At the end of each production line, there is a belt that pulls off all the spoilage and sends it into the loop. I also have a few circuit controllers which regulate how much spoilage and nutrients are on the loop. If there is too much, a burner switches on, if not enough, more is requested. On top of that, there is a secondary nutrient factory inside the loop that uses bioflux to generate nutrients, if there isnt enough spoilage OR nutrients on the belt.

    I love that Gleba has so many ways to solve problems. You can overproduce and void, you can do highly efficient circuit controls, you can build a megabase, or you can do the bare minimum. I don't think we've ever had so many (very viable) ways to solve puzzles before, and it's just incredible.

      Yeah, after my initial WTF-Phase we all had to go through I really quickly fell in love with this Planet. So many options, so much output out of low amounts of space, it's really lovely.
      I only felt like building here was more tedious than on the other two planets I were on.

    logistics bots and the trash unrequested feature make gleba super easy if you are not against a bot base

    • @Z3rgatul
      @Z3rgatul 2 місяці тому +6

      True
      You also should know basics of circuit networks
      For example my factory starts crafting initial bacteria only if I am low on bacteria and bacteria duplication is stopped
      Pentapod eggs are used for agricultural pack only if logistics network has more than 10 eggs

    • @Ic0nGaming
      @Ic0nGaming  2 місяці тому +3

      Circuit networks and bots are great solutions, but not mandatory.
      Especially the bacteria part is just ... It's not really a problem to let it permanently produce Bacteria, even if the duplicator is running. The input are a few pieces of Jelly/Mash which are endless.
      Obviously using circuit networks makes it less wasteful, but Gleba doesn't care about waste at all.

      A tip to past me: Transport the cargo to establish a new Silo on-site, together with the ingredients for rocket parts.
      I believe it's mandatory for Aquilo...
      My on-Ship factory parked at Aquilo will probably be capable of making Concrete in Space, maybe even up to Blue Chips and LDS if possible.

    For people that really dislike gleba it can be worth it to either save for later or have a supply chain set up to funnel resources from vulcanus or fulgora. if you start to run low on supplies here progression will slow to an absolute CRAWL. I abused the hell out of beacons with speed 2 upgrades here, it allowed me to chew through all the resources I got from farming with producing as little waste as possible. I tried to NEVER have my system back up.

    • @Ic0nGaming
      @Ic0nGaming  2 місяці тому +1

      Yeah, strong agree on that one. I did go for a start with only Construction Drones as Import (cause seriously I can't live w/o) and tried out how to do it without any starting resources.
      It's slow, yes. But mostly cause I didn't know what the hell I was doing :D
      But due to the fact that the things you HAVE to do on Gleba are relatively simple and short recipe chains, modules (like you say) really do have a huge impact. Importing beacons is helluva smart idea.

    So many people hate this planet, but ive spent many hours trying to squeeze output out of my factory on Gleba, and ive enjoyed it once i got things sufficiently spun up.
    The fact that the fruits spoil far slower than their processed counterparts means that i can process them at my leisure, but i need to spend more time iterating on my designs.
    Using the Gleba Biolab with its Productivity modifier is a must for processing Jelly and Mash, IMO. Real game-changer when i got some Rare and Moduled machines pushing the product.

  • @narancs5

    If you don't care about things spoiling you will have a much happier time. That was definitely a great tip.
    Setting up a lubricant factory with controlled nutrient production was a pita. If you supply endless nutrients and just deal with the spoilage it's 10 times less painful....but "you created waste and that is bad so don't do it" :D

    Active provider chests make life so much easier. Just slap them in and have bots carry your spoilage away.
    You can deal with oversupply by providing inputs as loops -- you run the belt by your inserters consuming it, and then send the excess back to the bus.

    There is an argument to be made to position your primary labs on Gleba since the sci packs have a shelf life and give you less research per pack as they degrade. And even with just 4 Bioplants plugging away is enough to feed over 20 modded labs with no downtime.

    02:14 I disagree. If you start tapping into the fruit reserves with a non-functional base you will spoil all the fruits in transit or while fixing it and you will lose the seeds. Trees cannot be multiplied. One tree gives you on average one seed. It is probability based to it may vary of course, but at the end of the day the math says it should perfectly balance out. If you handle fruits incirrectly you will lose a lot of seeds and will have to explore further to get back more fruits to replenish your seeds.

    One aspect not mentioned in the video that I think is very important when it comes to spoilage time: Gleba products come in two varieties - ones that have an hour+ shelf life, and those measured in several minutes. Centralising jelly, mash, nutrient, etc. production almost always ensures lots of spoilage. By processing them locally, in modules that produce high shelf-life products, you significantly reduce spoilage.
