  • Sprucefield, opened in March 1989, is a major out-of-town retail park in the townland of Lisburn, County Down, Northern Ireland. It lies on the southern edge of Lisburn; about one mile from Lisburn city centre, and ten miles (16 km) from central Belfast.
Sprucefield appears to be bucking the recent trend in the decline of out of town shopping centres. Perhaps this is due to its central position and its huge catchment area. It attracts big numbers from the South of Ireland. It may also be due to the fact that Sprucefield has a small number of major very popular outlets. Curries, Next, Marks and Spencers, ( an anchor store for the company, café, mall and toliets ) , Boots, McDonalds and Pets at Home.
In April 2016 Marks and Spencer reported that their Lisburn Sprucefield store recorded the highest food sales of any of their UK stores making it the most profitable store in the M&S network.

Sorry I missed this one, Tom! I was just scrolling through your videos and saw this one. Glad to see that mall is still thriving and hasn't collapsed. It is kind of that way here as well. There are some malls doing ok in Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, and Des Moines, but I think they are all feeling the pinch to some degree. Business continues to move south of Cedar Falls here. We are going to lose our "just around the block" ALDI as they are moving out with all of the other new stores. That one is going to hurt. No more quick shopping for supper and I hate driving out in that mess. You would probably laugh at what I define as traffic though. I see Curry's where you got your new computer. Good for you for shopping local. Maybe it was meant to be that I only saw this video this morning. A little extra sunshine. I took the day off to adjust to the loss and be with Anna, so we have had it good in that regard. At least we had time to be with Buffy in her time of need and her passing. Many don't have that luxury these days and that is a shame. Thanks again Tom.

That will hurt with Aldi moving out. It is often like a domino effect. One goes then there is less footfall or reason to stop and shop. Others inevitably follow suit. I'm glad my wee videos give you a bit of a lift. You did well be your wee doggy friend and you are doing right by Anna too. As you say many don't get that luxury.

Hi Jim. I think there is an ATM inside the doors in the foyer area at Marks and Spencers. Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills.
