Lisburn has changed quite a lot since I was last there in 1984. It was nice to see my old school, Brownies Primary School, in the trees, on Wallace Avenue, behind the Orange Hall.
My ancestors were Huguenots who settled in Spitalfields, I did not know that they also settled in Lisburn, thank you for this fascinating nugget of history. I will return to Lisburn this Summer & use your video to relook at the city. Many Thanks
I was born in Lisburn in 1963. My dad was an export sales manager . He sold linen thread in Hilden. Not sure about the English/Welsh links. Most of the people I went to school with had Irish Scottish names.

The " Nuns' Home " was actually a big convent with a school and separate girls' boarding school as well, They belonged to the Order Of The Sacred Heart of Mary. I didn't know about the tunnel you mention. That's interesting,
It's a boring dull place with zero night clubs and antisocial behaviour from mostly foreigners these days. I'm glad I got out of that dump years ago honestly. Use to be a place full of life and town was always packed. Should play The Specials song Ghost town.
@002lisamarie Yes, parts of it are nice tho lisburn has badly declined over the last 15 years or so. It's a ghost town, not a city or anything like a city. There are zero nightclubs, tho still a few decent bars. Driving through it on a Saturday night is depressing now. I remember Bow Street was packed with shoppers regularly. Many shops closed down and an empty mall. Not fair on the people who's lived there years see its decline sadly.
It's alright, City Centre is dead and decaying. Bus Services are kinda lacking so you probably need a car if you aren't in the center. Quite a lot of local entertainment options at the leisureplex, close enough to Belfast. As the other commenter said, it's kind of dull.
