I remember on a Saturday afternoon in the late 1990's to around 2006, I was afraid of walking through it because there was that many people of all shapes and sizes coming and going... the very last time I was in that centre was on Christmas Eve 2018 - there was literally no-one in it! It was one of the strangest experiences of my entire life. I walked in the back door, there was NO radio playing, there was NO sound of a child crying or laughing, the escalators were not moving, Dunnes was closed and dark inside. There was no Christmas decorations up... when I exited through the front door, I literally turned around and looked at it for one last time -- and I just knew that was the last time I would ever see it "open." And I was right, it closed in February 2019.
It's Argos at the back, Dunnes lease came up it is definitely not marks and Spencers! The flagship centre was brought by a development company to turn into apartments. The reason it remains open is the new owners have to honour the original lease agreements with each individual unit and as such the wholes complex must remain open until said lease runs its course
There's only 2 shops left at the entrance, poundworld & a sportswear shop. Burger King upstairs but don't bother asking for a chilled drink, because they aren't chilled at all.
This is the first of many that I can call “The Shopping Centre Playlist”. Argos, Post Office, Ethel Austin, PoundWorld, D2 and Dunnes are here alongside some other stores I can’t remember on this playlist.
The unit on the right with banner with knitting in the window is a charity called North Down Community Network. And use this unit for holding support groups for people with disabilities and illness and mental health issues to help them by doing art classes, choir, men's shed, creative writing class. And they have helped 100s of people of bangor, get better and learn new skills. And support. They only open certain days of the week.
@@SomeDork353 yeah, yesterday I was walking down high street with my mate and we looked through the shutters of the flagship and it was creepy looking as hell
@@SomeDork353 also last week me and my gf were walking walking around the loading bay (outside TOALS bookmakers) and she heard something inside the door and there was this really distorted fire alarm going off

It's sad that this happened to the flagship in 2019 I'm glad it's coming back

They're all gone now too
I remember in 2016 going there to get the goodies there...and it's now shut
There's only 2 shops left at the entrance, poundworld & a sportswear shop. Burger King upstairs but don't bother asking for a chilled drink, because they aren't chilled at all.
It's all closed now
Also the kitchen was very dirty
I always went down there with my granda, sometimes with my sister too. I loved it, but never thought it would be shut down
Last time I was in there was 2018 Christmas lights turn on.🥺 never knew that would be the last time I was ever gonna be there
i looked through the shutters today while walking down Main Street and there's already mold on the floor. it's only been closed for about 7 months.
And dead rats
Dang, I gotta look at that.
@@gracebreen4250 yeah recently there was a HUGE rat
@@gracebreen4250 yeah
snuck in there today, completely flooded n theres glass all over the floor.
We have Marks & Spencers in NI too.
hi
@@meganbrowne3760 hi
let's face it, 2015-18 all we ever used it for was either as a shortcut from main street to high street or to get something in poundland. i sure did.
The fucking truth right here

Like Elim and S&FFO. So, let’s begin!

Honestly, this place contends for the largest poundworld
but then they went bankrupt
A failure from the day and hour it opened.
I can smell my friend in the comments already
