@@RaptorBaptist I learned it later too, but the radar shows with a line the actual range of the missile according to their heading. If they are going away from you the range drops significantly, if they are heading at you it increases.
If you lock onto an aircraft with the autotracker from the LITENING II targeting pod in the F-16C, it will actually give you a gun lead indicator as if you had locked them on radar.
It’s funny that there are reports about the r530D that should also not detonate immediately with primary sources, and rather should act the exact same way as the r27ER in this video, but only the Russian ARH missiles have that capability in game, when the r27Er is already better in every way compared to the aim7m and r530D

the later variants of aim7 (P or MH) can also do this, and idk why tf gaijin hasnt added them yet bc its already modeled on other sarhs like r27er. They dont even fly any better (aim7s stopped getting engine changes after F) so its not like its gonna be overpowered
We should have gotten a sparrow F/A-18A by now with AIM-7Ps, would have been a really interesting and fun jet. Sadly with amraams coming soon I think we missed that opportunity
AIM-7M on F15 is probably the worst combo ever, sometimes I feel like F15 cant hold a lock on someone. The damn missile missed even straight flying planes. Had more luck in F4 and F14 with it.

The R27ER "trick" is as intended because the guidance has IOG+DL, however the electro-optical pod spotting trick just seems cheesy and it wouldn't be surprising if it gets suddenly removed or fixed someday (currently it seems to spot without regards to line of sight, say, spot a plane behind a mountain).

@monaro34 your description of the R73 and the aim 9M is not accurate. Unlike their predecessors, they have IRCCM and it is actually modeled in WT and does help with flare resistance. I recommend watching my how to flare IRCCM missile video tutorial and learn more about the differences within the first 3 minutes of the video
I only know that some targeting pods allow the usage of the Gun sight like on the AMX which will help to save some Ammunition cause you only get 400 rounds
Im not sure about the R-27 but the AIM-120 can actually be locked on a target with using TWS, has the same effect like what you showed, Target doesnt get RWR tone until the Aim-120 goes pitbull. (idk how this mechanic works in wt but im sure experienced with it in DCS)
No. The sparrows doesn’t blow up after losing lock as quickly, but the seeker still shuts off permanently after about 3-4 seconds after losing lock, so it’s basically a useless change.
there was no reason they should've added the r-27er without other nation equivalents, the r-27r still pulls harder than the sparrows anyways so it's not like they had bad radar missiles in the first place.

The best they can do is give the Aim 7P, which is just a 7F/M with Datalink. It'll still lose to the R27ER in speed, manouvreability, and reliability (or whatever stat decides whether you missile feels like ignoring your lock).
There is no sparrow that will save us from the ER. The ER was a mistake end of story. The sparrows can only get slightly better seekers, and lofting, which won’t really change anything. They will still be blatantly outclassed by the ER just not as hard as now.
That pod tip is awesome, i will bring a pod now even in air to air config, i have been killed more than once by a cheeky fucker flanking with its radar off
I actually wish top tier had aim-7-e-2's I genuinely prefer them over 7F/7M. Sucks playing an f-14b or f-16 when the beauty of the 7-E-2 exists on the f14a and f-4j, probably others too, those are just the planes I can use them on
Lretry sure all aim7s are bugged even if you lock they chaff and you lock the chaff with or without PD radar the missile tracks the aircraft with no hesitation
CW radar locks are looking for the largest radar signature in the scoped area. If lock switches to chaff - unless it’s a significant amount - the missile will still be tracking the aircraft as it is the biggest object. For CW radar missiles it’s best to not only chaff but also notch so that the PD radar loses lock as well as the missile. Hope that helps
Been grinding Russia from rank 1 air with mig23 and su25k and I’m 8 days in and I’m 1 plane away from su-27. Russian bias is feeling really good compared to America.
They don’t get an RWR warning for the missile, because that’s not only just a lock warning, but also a launch warning, by detecting CW illuminator or PD illuminator, which is turned off when there’s no lock

No, it’ll ping the RWR but won’t give an actual lock warning. However, if you hard lock a target to actually fire a missile, which is required with the R27, then it will give RWR for the duration of the lock.

I think it’s another bias weapon against America since like I said nothing supports that the missiles “self destruct”. Gaijin just pulled this out of their ass.
“Kneecaps mobility”. Carrying the pod doesn’t change any of your dogfight outcomes unless you were to dogfight your own plane. It’s the same amount of weight as carrying 2 AIM9s, which is basically nothing. The main detriment is drag, but that is also marginal. It’s not like carrying a Vulcan gun pod by any means, you’re barely losing performance by having it

@@SeekerHead thats a lazy answer and the game isn't 1v1, there are still other enemies you haven't shot at yet, and you can only guide so many at a time. doing this will let you keep you SA and not have to worry about every being all around you. fire a missile, crank away from enemies, get your kill or miss, go cold, and reset, rinse repeat, let your teammates die and distract, i'm literally on a 20 kill streak over my past games doing this. go look up the f-pole maneuver, and understand WHY it works, and why its so powerful with missile combat

Grinding so much this update with ADF, I died once to 27ER at BVR engagements. Got plenty 47km+ kills. If anyone thinks 7Mis bad, maybe stop rushing close to the ground, learn to notch and use your radar properly. Pretty sure the LITENING pod trick is a bug. Because you don't need a pod to do it lol. Simply cycling views will show them on any jet. Maybe even on props
A lot of us know this. I do something similar with the tornado Adv in Italian line unlocking and relooking with tws as well. Swapping back and forth every 2 seconds. Sadly due to the massive bias to Russian anything every missile that Russia has in game preforms all most twice of what the stats say while every other nation gets half or less than half the stats they say it does. A quick way to see this is do the same shot with Russian missile as us stat for stat follow the missile and you will see it not only does not have the speed it says it does but will bleed speed at a massive rate after a quarter to half mile and also no longer turn at even 10g, while every Russian missile will hold speed near indefinitely and also turn the entire time at over what it’s rated for. You can easily test this at 30k ft with the shooting star or Russian 23 chasing a missile track being launched from a jet behind it at an enemy in front of it. Sadly every one just says no it’s just lack of skill but in reality due to this a team of Russian jets vs any other nation at load out for load out at BR, Russian team will always win due to this advantage of the massive lie in stats that only hold true for non Russian jets for about half a second. Is why you can out turn a aim9L being fired from your own tornado or 104 when neither jet can do a 15g turn, while the middle is rated for near twice that. Russia on the other hand a mig can fire at a 90 from target with RK60 at less than 2 miles at over Mach 1 and alweys get a hit as the missile pulls over 30g. Simple math proves the game has a massive pre set of Russian anything always wins unless it just flys straight and never flares. It’s gotten so bad that you can fire an aim 9L at a mig 29 not flying super sonic at any altitude and if it turns even 1/16th of a degree the aim 9 will miss. Aim 7f is just as bad with head on again at any altitude turn 1/16th degree and it will miss due to the massive bias. Game has become a joke since patch

@@SeekerHead thats a lazy answer and the game isn't 1v1, there are still other enemies you haven't shot at yet, and you can only guide so many at a time. doing this will let you keep you SA and not have to worry about every being all around you.
fire a missile, crank away from enemies, get your kill or miss, go cold, and reset, rinse repeat, let your teammates die and distract, i'm literally on a 20 kill streak over my past games doing this.
go look up the f-pole maneuver, and understand WHY it works, and why its so powerful with missile combat

Grinding so much this update with ADF, I died once to 27ER at BVR engagements. Got plenty 47km+ kills. If anyone thinks 7Mis bad, maybe stop rushing close to the ground, learn to notch and use your radar properly. Bunch of bad players got into top tier, they don't Understand top tier jets, yet they complain so fuckin much. ADF isnt even top of the food chain, and I'm carrying most games while shitting on Su-27's and F-15's, while having 30flares+ chaffs. My blood boils when I see people asking if its even worth Taking chaff to air RB

If you win your missle joust at the start, you get an adventageous position over the skill issued players who fly low and left.
It really can be fun - top tier just doesn't allow proper missile duels.

BVR fights can be a lot of fun if the opponents are skilled and know have a great deal of knowledge.

A lot of us know this. I do something similar with the tornado Adv in Italian line unlocking and relooking with tws as well. Swapping back and forth every 2 seconds.
Sadly due to the massive bias to Russian anything every missile that Russia has in game preforms all most twice of what the stats say while every other nation gets half or less than half the stats they say it does.
A quick way to see this is do the same shot with Russian missile as us stat for stat follow the missile and you will see it not only does not have the speed it says it does but will bleed speed at a massive rate after a quarter to half mile and also no longer turn at even 10g, while every Russian missile will hold speed near indefinitely and also turn the entire time at over what it’s rated for.
You can easily test this at 30k ft with the shooting star or Russian 23 chasing a missile track being launched from a jet behind it at an enemy in front of it.
Sadly every one just says no it’s just lack of skill but in reality due to this a team of Russian jets vs any other nation at load out for load out at BR, Russian team will always win due to this advantage of the massive lie in stats that only hold true for non Russian jets for about half a second.
Is why you can out turn a aim9L being fired from your own tornado or 104 when neither jet can do a 15g turn, while the middle is rated for near twice that.
Russia on the other hand a mig can fire at a 90 from target with RK60 at less than 2 miles at over Mach 1 and alweys get a hit as the missile pulls over 30g.
Simple math proves the game has a massive pre set of Russian anything always wins unless it just flys straight and never flares.
It’s gotten so bad that you can fire an aim 9L at a mig 29 not flying super sonic at any altitude and if it turns even 1/16th of a degree the aim 9 will miss. Aim 7f is just as bad with head on again at any altitude turn 1/16th degree and it will miss due to the massive bias.
