Corpse grinder seriously is a fucking awesome dude! Met him when I was 14 and I was a vocalist of my own band, guy chatted with me for half an hour about music, games and books and even asked to hear my vocals then complimented me so much. The guy gave me so much confidence in myself and gave me the best bear hug ever. He's an international treasure

The entire metal fandom is the nicest group of music fans I've ever been exposed to. Always friendly, welcoming, and extremely non-judgmental.

Corpsegrinder is one of the most wholesome persons ever. I meet him back in.... 09 I think, and accidently mentioned I play wow. That was a very intense hour before he hade to go so their tourbus wouldent leave without him.
I always love the down to earth guys. My favorite video is the one of the Black Metal artist "Niklas Kvarfoth" where he mentions that he just wants to be home with his cat. It's so cute haha Xd
Considering I've seen Niklas engaging in self-harm on stage and handing out razor blades to the audience I have to say that wouldn't be the worst idea. Dude makes awesome music but holy shit does he have some issues
@@Valp85 I think that is of the past though, if you look at the performance Kevin Paradis did with him on his drum cam you can see Niklas pretty well and not for a moment did he look like he was self harming that show.
Gotta say, as a girl that likes going out alone, hard rock and metal bars are the only places where I feel completely safe. I was never harassed, or touched. I've had first generation rockers strike up very nice conversations (as far as conversations are possible in a metal bar🤣) and others coming around asking me constantly if I was fine or if they should get him away from me. I constantly feel like someone is watching over me in there
I randomly met Johan while grabbing a coffee in downtown Stockholm a few years back and had a chat while he waited for his wife. He's a genuinely nice and happy guy, and he named his dog after the Finnish hockey legend Jari Kurri
As 51 year old speed/thrash/death metal lover/musician, I can definitively say that as a group, hardcore metalheads are some of the nicest people in the music industry and fandom. There's the image, tough and brutal, but what so many non-metal people don't realize is that all of that aggression is put into the music whether listening or performing and you feel great afterwards! It is a way to exorcise the demons of anger and hatred in a constructive way. 🤘❤️
Metal has some of the nicest people on the planet. Common misconception to think evil. Maybe it’s because they channel whatever anger into their music and it gets it out of their system?

I mean i also think that our community is the best (i also go out to different music genres so i have a lot of comparison) but also a lot of toxicity

Especially with Travis Ryan part, I'm damn sure he's not gonna tell you to off yourself and never listen to Metal if you like Abba on the side after listening to Cattle Decap. Or even Metalcore for that matter.
Weak examples tbh, so I'm not really affected nor has my opinion changed and to me my point still stands.
If you said some shit like: Sebastian Bach, Limp Bizkit, Corey Taylor etc of that vein I'd agree with you. However that doesn't reflect my opinion of even those people even if they're arrogant. I simply do not care.

I remember I saw Malevolence live last year at Download festival here in the UK, in between songs the lead singer takes a moment to talk about dealing with lockdown, how he'd lost friends during covid, and to commiserate with the audience over what we'd lost in the prior years, as well as to celebrate everyone we still had and that we now had the chance to come together as a community again. Tears all round in the pit.
Not death metal but when I saw Sabaton live Joakim gave his iconic sunglasses to I think like a 7 year old girl in the crowd and I think that’s wholesome as hell.
Many years ago I made friends with a guy who used to date my cousin. Before knowing him as a person, you would see him on the neighborhood walking around: big guy, long hair, long beard, all dressed in black with piercings all over his face and a leather jacket with spikes. Then he started dating her and she brought him home to meet my uncle. They get along well right off the bat. All the family loved him. Even when they split (in good terms or else it could have been awkward) he used to come to chat with my aunt and uncle. And later I made friends with him. That's how I knew he loved Patrick Star. He had his cellphone covered in Patrick Star stickers. He is a really good person, like a giant metalhead teddy bear.

When I was younger, I accidentally ended up hanging out with bands. I mean, I met one guy, then his band, bunch of other bands, you know how it goes... 🤷♀️ Wasn't trying to, kinda happened.
And what I learned from that: the ones who rock hardest on stage often are the sweetest, funniest, man-child shithead prankster teddy bears.
Ah, I somehow miss those times sometimes... All those countless hours of music talk, dumbass goofing around and countless multiple tour spanning inside jokes.

Mikael Akerfeldt is absolutely hilarious, his banter is among the best. I saw Opeth for the first time last summer, was looking forward to some fun banter, but it was in Norway so he just spoke Swedish and it was fine for everyone but I understood nothing. Still the best show I went to last year

@@phorestpsy216 it's close enough, that's why. My understanding is that Danish - Norwegian - Swedish is more of a continuum than they are three separate languages. It might be difficult if two people live far from each other (e.g. South Denmark and North-Eastern Sweden) but in that case it was in Oslo and everybody seemed to understand him

@@williamreynolds3487 I know, everyday I wake up to thinking, is today the day? Is today the day loudwire posts a Slipknot video and disappoints me? It’s a struggle so hard that I can’t even focus on work most of the time. That ever increasing feeling of dread knowing that eventually Slipknot is going to make an appearance. Sleeping is pretty much non existent because of the ambiance of worry that washes over me whenever I think about loudwire uploading a Slipknot video.

i like some metal, wouldn’t call myself a metal head but i’ve noticed that metal fans can either be super judgmental and gatekeepy or really kind and accepting. do you older metal fans have any good band recommendations? im looking to expand my music taste to more metal and i would love some recommendations :)
@Mer Luzo not to be judgmental, but have you seen any recent videos of Will Ramos (the current vocalist of Lorna Shore)? You don't have to like the music, but he is such a gem..
Not really sure what you are looking for, but for starters Kamelot, Visions Of Atlantis are pretty acceptable I think, maybe try some Volbeat.
There's a LOT to choose from. Classic: Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Grim Reaper. Thrash: Anthrax, Exodus, Testament. Death: Morbid Angel, Suffocation, Cancer. Honorable mentions: King Diamond, Savatage, Laaz Rockit. There's a start for ya. I can always recommend more if you want.
