Great review just missing one BIG point, Alex.... an ever growing number of really good 3rd party pods for the original line but none for vertuo. I've recently bought Aldi's ristretto pods (recommended in 'which' magazine) which are really nice and cost only £1.35 for 10, and at the other end of the scale I've tried illy's pods and just yesterday Pret a Manger's new line. Also, the 3rd party pods are available in supermarkets, so if you fancy trying something on a whim you can. Cheers Alex!
I've been considering upgrading from my original capsule machine and have watched heaps of comparison videos. Your take has been by far the most comprehensive and enjoyable. Thanks!
I was considering a vertuo as my next machine but your thorough review is so much more in-depth than other reviews, I now know for sure I'm buying any original line, whether mini, essenza, inisia, pixie etc. So many moving parts on the Vertuo make me think it will not last as long. I will probably have to buy vertuo in the future, but hopefully several years from now, as Nespresso coffee machines are a good quality.
The patents of the Nespresso Vertuo actually state that it was Nespresso's goal to create a drip coffee machine that also creates a crema which is something completely new. But that‘s also one of the reasons why I got an original Nespresso machine. I prefer espresso and espresso recipes like latte macchiato or cappuccino. Another reason for choosing an OL machine is the wide variety of third party capsules.
I treated myself to a vertuo plus 3 months ago. I heard from a coworker Nespresso machines make good coffee and I was sick of my Keurig. I belong to Costco and their model came with 3 sleeves plus the starter kit and a $35 coupon to order pods online. I felt like this was a good place to start. I think I found your UA-cam channel just after that! I've enjoyed watching and learning from you! My husband bought me the essenza mini for my birthday a couple weeks ago! I truely love having both. I make coffee for my family at various gatherings and they really enjoy it. I have a couple of trips coming up and I don't have to fret about coffee as the mini is small and lightweight, making it a good travel companion! The only thing I would do different (and I tell this to friends when they ask) is get the vertuo plus instead of the next. Love all your content and look forward to your daily reels :))
I have the vertuo line because I didn’t want to get stuck “behind” the technology. But the vertuo line seems like more of a fake crema on top. It’s not made by pressure, it’s made by centrypical force, by spinning the pod really fast. The original line actually uses bar pressure to make the espresso and the crema is more authentic like from a coffee shop. As far as the taste, the vertuo still extracts the espresso like normal. It tastes like espresso and not coffee. I think I will be purchasing the original line. I don’t like drip coffee.
I started my coffee journey with a Vertuo plus machine right at the beginning of this year, A few months ago I purchased a 2nd hand Citiz machine just so I could try some of the flavours the original line offers. I wasn't planning on keeping it long but I absolutely love it & I'm keeping it now. Having both machines definitely gives you the best of both worlds & the ultimate coffee experience. I`ve also started adding syrups to my coffee station too X
I went with the original line. Essenza mini. Small size and still looks beautiful. White was sold out so went with grey and it works great and looks great. I love a lungo with a little bit of cream and that’s it. Also if I want to make a latte works great for that too. Meets my caffeine needs. For those who are concerned for counter space I say go for the original line a smaller machine.
I was almost certain that I’d get the Vertuo but I had that slight doubt because I love a good espresso. If I go anywhere I always order espresso and don’t drink regular coffee other than my own. Sooo after watching your video I’ve changed my mind. I’ll get the original 😍
I have both machines as well, and I love them both. I started out with the vertuo next and then a year later invested in the original. I’m a huge espresso drinker but I love having an actual cup of coffee every now and then. I also like that I’m able to offer a cup of hot coffee or an espresso beverage to my family and friends when they come over.
Thank you so much for your Advice! I have the Nespresso Original, but wanted to try the vertou line and so i ordered the newer one, but then i watched your Videos and now i have the Vertou plus. Thank you!
I bought my Vertuo Plus about 3 years ago. Two years ago, pre Covid, I went to Europe. The Nespresso stores there only carry the original line. I was told the Vertuo line is only available in the US. The rest of the world only uses the original line. Hmmm, there must be a reason why. Back home, I eventually found out about Nespresso’s machine plan. Picked up the Latissima Pro for $1. Now I use both machines.
I started my Nespresso journey with my Creatista Pro and love it and this Summer I purchased a Verturo Plus for my family that like “Starbucks drinks”. I love them both and love certain capsules from each line, funny you mention the eclair cuz that’s a favorite of mine from the original line. I’m super happy I have both and enjoy both. I keep my creatista in my kitchen and the verturo in the Butler’s Pantry, I always say I have the best of both worlds lol 😂🥰
Totally agree on the Vertuo Next - there's even a class action lawsuit against Nespresso about it. Got my Creatista Plus today, I just pull 2 ristretto shots from Illy Forte capsules and it's equal to my huge E61 Rocket Appartamento machine espresso. That machine takes 20 min to heat up. I use the Creatista Plus when I don't have time to fire up the big machines and grind. Glad I stayed with the Original line, I'm an espresso and milk-based drink person, not an Americano or drip coffee drinker, totally agree. Well done Alex.
Espresso lover here. Started out with a Gaggia Classic, but sometimes I want an espresso really fast! I went with the Outin Nano for travel, and the Breville Pixie Titan for home use. I am loving trying all the original line capsules! Thanks! 💕
I have the original line and was thinking of buying the Vertuo when I move. After viewing your video-I will buy Vertuo PLUS and keep BOTH!! Thanks for the good advice :)) Just subscribed!
Great review, thanks. I have had an Essenza Mini (the little one that's wide on the bottom and narrow at the top) for 4 years and loved it to pieces, but I hate expresso's so today decided to buy the Vertuo Plus. I haven't heard a good word said about the Vertuo Next. I wouldn't take one of those as a gift. Thanks again.
Good review. Now I really understand better. I'm new to this coffee world and quickly realized that I don't like big cups of coffee so I guess I'm an expresso type of girl. So I got the Pixie Expresso machine
I have the original line! My friends purchased machines from the Vertuo line… I love both but I notice when I make/have coffee from the Vertuo line it’s never the same because I like my espresso drinks.
I have the OL essenza plus and it’s great . Here in New Zealand there are so many cheaper third party options for the OL , so the options are endless and many are quite nice for half the price and you are not stuck having to order online . No plans to buy the Vertuo line . I also love using my coffee plunger for larger cups of coffee.
I currently have OL Creatista Plus which is great for all expresso drinks hot and iced. It is a great machine with options for coffee volume, milk temperature, and froth intensity. The wand self cleans after each milk activity. The heated milk makes for a satisfying hot latte or cappuccino. I have to keep an eye on the milk container when frothing, as it has bubbled over the top a couple of times. Maybe because I use less than the minimum amount. I have a Vertuo Plus on order just to have more options. Enjoy your reviews.
They seem to be pushing the verturo line, I've read they have a lot of faults and many people have been sending them back. I've been trying to get a citiz chrome/silver here in UK and haven't managed to get one, I don't want a machine on subscription. I might just get a pixie as my first machine, great videos btw x
I have the mini and Vertuo Next. Love both and glad I kept my mini but you are right the Vertuo Next has issues, I’m onto my 3rd machine as they keep malfunctioning so they just keep sending me a new machine. I would purchase the Vertuo Plus over the Next.
I just purchased the Nespresso Vertuo Plus. I'm upgrading from years of using Keurig machines. Still waiting for the machine and all the pods to arrive. In the meantime I'm binge-watching your channel to get ideas for what to make when everything arrives. I chose the Vertuo Plus over the Next because it just seemed easier to use--the one touch open and close function appealed to me.
I don’t know the difference, mine doesn’t even have a branding of either, just nespresso. The only thing I do know is that the one with the bigger body instead of the round body has a bigger water tank
Owning an inissia and the pop. They make very different coffee. If you want a cup of coffee.. vertuo.. if you want an espresso style coffee or a slightly less concentrated espresso style cup.. OL. I think most people would love just the vertuo, but for those of us who like to change it up.. both.. if I had to do it over again, I wouldn't have bought the vertuo.. except.. guests.. thats what that machine is primarily used for.
I have the original and my keurig (2nd machine in 4 years) just went out. I’m debating going with another Keurig (I have tons of K cups left) or going Vertuo… I’m torn. I really only use my Nespresso original over the Keurig as I’m an espresso girl, BUT I like to have a cup of coffee too. I prefer iced coffee and was looking at the Keurig elite. I’m so torn!!!
Same I am looking at I think its the Keruig slim its the newest one and does iced as well. I kinda like the option of being able to pick up k cups whenever and wherever. Also I am low key overwhelmed with the names/colors like I don't want to have to read up on which color I just picked. with nespresso Idk I heard that once you go to nespresso you never go back to keruig. I have never had nespresso though
@@ebonyscruggs8619 Nespresso is definitely better/yummier, I use that machine daily and it’s the original. Keurig customer service sent me a new machine though so I’m sticking with Keurig til this replacement inevitably breaks 🤪 then I’ll get the Nespresso Vertuo
I have both OL and Vertuo. In fact I have 2 pixies, 1 Vertuo chrome, and 1 evoluo. I wanted to have an OL & VL as backup machines because having previously used keurigs, they just didn’t last. Come to find out now that Nespresso machines last forever. LOL I may never use those backup machines!! I use my VL machine the most but I like to have options and the ability to buy limited editions which is whu o have both style machines. Great review Alex! You always do such a great job explaining things 😀
i regret buying the nespresso vertuo only because the pod options are so small right now. its either starbucks pods or actual nespresso pods. im about to upgrade to the breville bambino so i dont have to worry about pods anymore though
Virtui plus. But I've finally realized that I'm an espresso girl after all these years. 2 of my family members have now bought the plus after visiting me 😄 however, I wish I had the original for espresso variety instead.
She said you get a 'really nice crema' with the Vertuo, but that is not true, as the Veruo does not produce a true expresso so you get a frothy wannabe crema because it uses a centrifugal force extraction method. With the Original, you actually get a nice classic/dense crema because it uses 15-19 bar of pressure/infusion, which is the classic method of extraction.
Thank you so much for this comparison! I thought for sure the Vertuo was the way to go, but since I already have a Keurig with a drip coffee that I love and I'm really wanting an "espresso machine," I think the original is the way to go. And if my Keurig ever kicks the bucket, I'll invest in a Vertuo.
So many people bought the vertuo line but here in Indonesia they only sell the OL machines. But that’s okay, many option for the capsules. Even some local cafe sell nespresso compatible capsules. Anyway I convinced to buy nespresso machine because i saw your tiktok. Thankyou!
I bought the Vertuo machine because I though "It is the newest machine so I guess they will discontinue the original line slowly and I`ll have to buy another machine in a year or so". And I regret. I only drink lattes or coffee + milk so an espresso or double espresso is all I need. There is not much options with the Vertuo. I can still stop the machine once I have the amount of coffee I need but it is such a waste because the caps are bigger and more expensive. Also, my Vertuo Plus Delux leaks and Nespresso (UK) is not being very helpful. Anyways I love your content and all the tips and tasting tests you do! Thank you! xxx
They won’t discontinue their original line, I don’t see that happening. Please keep calling their customer service maybe that representative wasn’t being too helpful
After watching I’m going with the plus i love my syrups and trying to make my coffee like startbucks so i just needs to basics with the option for coffee as well. Thanks so much for your video..Also I’m here from Tik tok
I am going to stay with what I have; I have the Vertuo Plus Nespresso machine. I like it very much. I usually get the pods that have the most ounces. I also have a Keurig. Each morning I have one cup of each. I have had the Keurig for a long time. (I think this is my 3rd or 4th one.) But if I could only have one, I would choose the Vertuo Nespresso even though the pods are more expensive than the Keurig pods.
Because of the different way of making the crema is different. In the original series, we really get crema, and in vertuo we have imputed coffee- artificial crema
I have had the Vertuo Next for 3 weeks and just today had to box it up to send back.- it malfunctioned and started trying to make coffees on its own when I wasn’t in the room! Then when I tried to make a coffee the button wouldn’t work, or it wouldn’t stop dispensing water so I would have a giant cup full of over brewed coffee from a double express capsule. I also discovered it was leaking. Quite disappointing after just 3 weeks. I am changing it to the Vertuo Plus. I have had an original line machine (Citiz originally and then the U) over the last 10 years, until just recently changing to the Vertuo line. Loving the capsule options though!
I purchased the Vertuo machine because I was the coffee drinker who also likes espresso drinks. Plus, since my husband likes big cups of coffee it works for us. However, I do love the creativity I exhibit when I use espresso pods. I guess we will see what the future brings to my coffee nook! 🤩 Excellent video!!
I love the creama created by the original Nespresso but I have never tried the Vertuo line. I always like strong coffee taste latte so when I order in Starbucks I always asked for 3 shots of espresso, with the original line I sometimes have to use 2 pods.
I haven’t gotten either yet but as I have a bunch of brew methods already but no espresso maker, leaning towards just the original. And because I think the original pod patent has run out, you’re more likely to find less expensive 3rd party pods
I don’t understand this question? 🤔 can you explain exactly what it mean? Since my coffee bar is already set up I’m not sure exactly what you want to see
@@_Alexmojica Have you seen any other cute syrup containers along your coffee journey?! I have a variety of service I’d like to transfer over into something that’s a little bit more aesthetic that matches for the coffee bar and I’m sure you have seen a ton of things!
Well.... I have had a keurig for the past 2-3 years.. and only drank one type of drink out of it.. pretty sure it wasn't even coffee. I really wanted to make my fave starbucks drink at home so I got the Vertuo plus. I quickly realized that I don't like coffee, but espresso drinks. soooooo I mayyy get the mini essenza.
Question! Can you brew ristretto shots with the Essenza mini? I love my ristretto shots but it seems you can only use them with the way more expensive machines :(
@@_Alexmojica Thanks. For example pike roast from Starbucks, for me it's just ... Burnt, it's hard to explain in words. If you don't add sugar it's mission impossible.
I have the old gun keurig! The big one with the touchscreen taking up an entire counter in my small kitchen😂 I think I’m going to do the Vertuo! I drink a lot of Cold brew and iced coffee so the way I can mimick and save money I found with a Nespresso machine. Now I know I can brew larger amount with the Vertuo! What do you think for me?
I like dolce gusto and espresto(k fee shape) as they have milk pods for cuppuchino or latte without buying milk...I like flavoure milky coffee. Wish nespresso would make a seperate milk pod for their range, as cold milk makes the coffee cold, also to clean the arrocino is a pain(aerocino by nespress use magnet and it is very good machine...i own two of them:)) I prefer the OL nespresso as I still use it occasionally with 3 rd party italian pods.
I have the breville vertuo line and I also have a instant pot that does the original capsules should I get a Nespresso original machine is it going to be any better than my instant pot?Thankyou!
I’m confused which machine is considered the “original”? Right now I make two kcups espresso shots with oat milk iced and I definitely like espresso shots! From your description I think that would put me in route to purchase an original machine but I still have no idea which one that is?
Yes I think you’d be better of with the original line machine. I have the essenza plus which is the smaller one. The one I have in the video is discontinued but I also had the essenza mini which I still highly recommend. I’ve used it in some of my older videos if you care to watch but either way that’s what’s sounds best for you
I have the virtuo line and I love it. I also have the Velvetiser for hot chocolate. Have you seen that one. I’m anxious to try that one for my hot chocolates. Thanks for your videos. Keep them coming!
@Alex Mojica thank you, 😊 I just saw an offer on Amazon, and the pixi is at same price as essenza mini. So I wasn't sure which one should I buy. BTW love your videos 🥰
I have the nespresso by breville vertuo line and i use there vertuo alto mugs with it will the vertuo alto mugs fit under the nespresso essenza mini?I want the concentrated espresso shots from the the mini but want to use my vertuo alto mugs with it!Thanks so much!
Can you explain your question a bit better? If you’re asking if you can use vertuo alto with essenza mini no you can’t. Each pod corresponds to its own line of machines. You can only use with vertuo line machines
Target has Starbucks Columbian coffee ( not espresso), lots of options for espresso. I just got a Nespresso Pixie Classic. I love it 💞. Honestly you can make coffee and espresso.

Also keep in mind that Vertuo will not get any 3rd party pods due to the copyright on the barcode being used on the Pod.
@marsha choc They only have Starbucks, which is made by Nespresso. However unfortunately they are not available for UK buyers
@@johannboth It will at some point. But I believe it will not be until the patent expires in 2030.

I have the Citiz & Milk from the original line for 3 years and since a couple of weeks also the Creatista Plus, the original line.
Got the Essenza plus because of you ☕️
Yay!
I had a keurig and an essenza mini, just got rid of my keurig and got an vurtuo plus and kept my essenza mini, definitely keeping both.
Thats awesome to have backups! 😃 Thank you so much Kitsa 🥰
Great review 🥰❤️
Thank you!
i regret buying the nespresso vertuo only because the pod options are so small right now. its either starbucks pods or actual nespresso pods. im about to upgrade to the breville bambino so i dont have to worry about pods anymore though
👍🏼
Virtui plus. But I've finally realized that I'm an espresso girl after all these years. 2 of my family members have now bought the plus after visiting me 😄 however, I wish I had the original for espresso variety instead.
Sounds like you’ll need to get it soon!
It still crema ok, let’s get over how it’s produced, it’s still crema
If we want to be technical here let’s be technical about spelling, it’s Espresso not expresso
If you brew an original line coffee and a similar vertuo cup of coffee which one tastes better? Which one has better cream?
Thank you so much for this comparison! I thought for sure the Vertuo was the way to go, but since I already have a Keurig with a drip coffee that I love and I'm really wanting an "espresso machine," I think the original is the way to go. And if my Keurig ever kicks the bucket, I'll invest in a Vertuo.
Yay I’m glad it helped you decide!
I bought the Vertuo Next and so far I love it!
Awesome!
Awww yay! Glad it helped with your decision!
Good choice! Vertuo is so versatile!
You really know your coffee great video..
Thank you!
Because of the different way of making the crema is different. In the original series, we really get crema, and in vertuo we have imputed coffee- artificial crema
It’s still crema
That Next machine is no good. Glad you switched over!
I see your future already 🤩🤩🤩
I love the creama created by the original Nespresso but I have never tried the Vertuo line. I always like strong coffee taste latte so when I order in Starbucks I always asked for 3 shots of espresso, with the original line I sometimes have to use 2 pods.
I haven’t gotten either yet but as I have a bunch of brew methods already but no espresso maker, leaning towards just the original. And because I think the original pod patent has run out, you’re more likely to find less expensive 3rd party pods
Can you do a video of making a at home coffee bar with a cute aesthetic?!? I want to transfer syrups to cute jars etc!
Aww man I actually haven’t since I haven’t had to need for extra ones but if I do I’ll definitely share
Is any of your machine good for making espresso? I love iced caramel macchiato.
Did you watch the video 🤔
I am thinking of getting the original as i only like to have lattes...
Thanks for sharing, u said u got the Vertuo on sale, can I ask what price? I just want to keep an eye out.
I don’t remember the price 😣
I have the original line - trying to state my case to get the Verturo next. I am new to Nespresso - I am 4 months in and love my Essenza.
Keep me posted if you ever get the Vertuo 😄
Thanks for the explanation..I'll stick with my OL and my keurig machine. But if my keurig ever goes out I may switch to a vertuo machine.
Great!
Yay! It’s such an awesome little machine
Love this video !
Thank you!
Question! Can you brew ristretto shots with the Essenza mini? I love my ristretto shots but it seems you can only use them with the way more expensive machines :(
You’ll have to reprogram one of the functions to do ristretto, it’s in the manual on how to do it
Don't you think that lungos on the original line are a bit bitter / burnt?
No
@@_Alexmojica Thanks.
I LOVE THE NEXT☕❤
do you have a good decaf nespresso original pod thats good to make caramel macchiato? i got the starbucks dark decaf
I’m sorry I no longer have Nespresso and I can’t remember what pods there were it’s been almost a year now sorry!
Thanks for sharing I’m happy with my machine 🥰 I have the vertuo line by the way
That’s awesome!
I don’t know since I don’t own an instant pot I can’t compare.
I’ve used it in some of my older videos if you care to watch but either way that’s what’s sounds best for you
I was planning to get the Creatista Plus and doing americanos when we want coffee. Will that work?
It doesn’t dispense hot water so you’ll have to add the hot water after pulling the espresso shot.
@@_Alexmojica Can you not remove the pod and then it will just put hot water in when you push the button?
How long has your essenza mini lasted ?
Since 2018, my sister still uses it
That’s quite a long time. Is the breville one the same as the one on the nespresso website ?
Do you know when the pumpkin spice cake comes out? I’m dying for some lol
One of the people I chatted with at the Nespresso Boutique I went to the other day said the beginning of September! :)
I have the Essenza and drink a lungo illy Forte pod with a teaspoon of cream. It's amazing. I now can't stand to drink any alternative.
Yes I need both. 😍
I have the virtuo line and I love it. I also have the Velvetiser for hot chocolate. Have you seen that one. I’m anxious to try that one for my hot chocolates. Thanks for your videos. Keep them coming!
Not yet! haven't heard of it!
Can I just say I love your nails 💅🏼 💞💞💞
Thank you love!
I have both the vertuo plus and a essenza mini (thanks to your advice) I love both..
Glad you enjoy both!
I need a list of the best original line pods. 😆
I have a video on some! Check it out ☺️
@@_Alexmojica I sure will 🙂
Would you buy a Nespresso pixi or a Nespresso Essenza mini?
Essenza mini was my very first machine I owned and loved it! My sister still uses it
@Alex Mojica thank you, 😊 I just saw an offer on Amazon, and the pixi is at same price as essenza mini.
And if you’re referring to the mug fitting under the essenza while brewing I wouldn’t know since I don’t have those
@@_Alexmojica Yes i was speaking of the mugs thankyou for getting back to me!
Just ordered the vanilla creme and Brazil capsule for my OL machine 😍😍
I got the vertuo next last month… now Im freaking out 😭
Hope you got a good one! If not make sure to call they customer service. 🥰
@@_Alexmojica so far it seems good to me 🥺 thank you 💖
Target has Starbucks Columbian coffee ( not espresso), lots of options for espresso. I just got a Nespresso Pixie Classic. I love it 💞. Honestly you can make coffee and espresso.
That’s awesome!
