When I was just totally green my first few weeks of picking last year, I would just spend an evening with a new lock and take my pick, with no turning tool at all, just practice raking the pick along the pins to learn to count them, and get the feel of them and the warding. From what my friends have said when they tried lockpicking, they couldn't feel anything at all.. they couldn't be sure if they were on the warding, or the pins, or between the pins on the "ceiling" of the plug or whatever..so excellent points, I think learning the feel is important until it becomes second nature at some point.

@LockSpaz Totally agree. Basics are everything. I have to constantly remind myself, don't just try picking every pin, find the binding pin first.
