Retired GM Master mechanic. After turning wrenches for close to 50 years my tools are in my home garage. I specialized in steering, brakes, and suspension. The amount of special tools required to cover these areas was considerable. The last 7 years I worked in a shop where I had to keep my main toolbox {Mac MB1700} locked up. As a mechanic I understood tools was very expensive, when you had to re-buy them because someone borrowed them and did not return it, they were more expensive. Very impressive set. Thank for the tour.

It's a model number 44975 or a 44985. I have quite a few of them. Moore Drop Forge/Easco made them for Sears and they are bulletproof. I've fixed many of them over the years that were sold to me as "broken". Most just needed to be cleaned and relubed to work again like new.

At the time, I was overwhelmed, with thier generosity.
My 90 year old Dad, told me shortly before he passed..."That was the best 500 bucks, I ever spent.
Because you have saved me 10s of thousands of dollars, by working on my cars, for free"

Wow ! I was an industrial mechanic for 25 years . We were very fortunate to being able to get Snap-on tools. We often got the industrial finish Snap-on because they were less expensive. We didn't care a whole lot about the chrome finish. The mechanic I worked with ,insisted on the chrome. I insisted on the red smooth finish. I had a 4' Snap-on rollaway and a Kennedy Chest. We also had a tow hitch rigged up on our tool box so we could use a three buggy to pull our tool box to the equipment we work on as our department was about half the size of a football field.

I see a lot of rebadged products (testers and other tools) that could have been bought cheaper elsewhere, but I get it, the big tool vendors extend credit and allow you get what you need without a full outlay of the money at one time.
With that said, I'm sure many mortgages were paid with what's in those toolboxes. LOL.

That is Nirvana to me. $500,000+ in tools and roll-aways. Hopefully you can write them off over time. When I was spooling-up as a AME, I couldn't write-off my tools - but that's up here in the Democratic Peoples Republik of Kanada.
