I felt "I don't like going to places where nobody's gonna dance" in my spirit. If I'm being dragged to the club, I'm going to move this body!🕺
The conversation from 8:19. I found Tay's sentiments interesting and it indicates to me why we need more education and allyship within the LGBTQ+ community. Gay/men, thanks to patriarchy have a level of social privilege that isn't given to the rest of the community.
When I see (2S) 2 spirited and how important having that recognition is to indigenous people. (I) Intersex people have been fighting just to exist as is, to have bodily, gender and sexual orientation autonomy. I could go on. I am careful not to be dismissive of all the other aspects of our community, especially as a Black presenting cis male that has experienced how the white LGBTQ+ community dismisses our presence and community needs.
I identify as Queer because my sexual orientation, sexual behaviour and gender doesn't necessarily fit into set boxes.
That is interesting, when I refer to myself I use gay but if I am referring to the community as a whole I tend to use the word Queer.
I kind of agree and kind of disagree. I feel like lumping all together is a disservice to each groups individual experiences and struggles. Sexual orientation and gender identity aren't one in the same for example.
He was dismissive and almost resentful, imo. It was very disappointing. I would have thought at his age he’d have a more enlightened understanding.
I agree cringy.
@@egb8728 Being 39 he is understandably more conservative in his views....these labels and emphasis on recognising the different groups and highlighting their experiences and so on is a relatively new phenomenon. Therefore its likely in his formative years (teens and early twenties), things were a lot more straightforward, gay, and straight. I feel his pain being ten years older.
Great convos, I’m just starting watching these convos and it’s much needed!
This was wonderful! I am a 53 year-old black gay man (but I don't look anywhere NEAR my age - I have beautiful skin and lustrous hair😆). I have lived in Atlanta forever! I went to Georgia Tech in the late 80's and early 90's and work as an electrical engineer to this day work as a controls engineer in Duluth, GA. I have to say that looking back over the years, there are many, many things that I would have done differently, including my choice of college education (attending an HBCU would have been the route for me), but one thing I would never change, even if I could, is my sexuality. I love being gay! It has it disadvantages of course, especially in my line of work (think hyper straight, white males) but it suits me to a G.
This platform is amazing. Obio, you're definitely on to something. Keep up the great work.
I literally literally thought I was the only one who used to chew on their washcloth 😭 I would wet and freeze a clean one and chew on it out of boredom lmao!
Lmaooo 🤣 this is so funny and cute to me. Random but cute
Whew! The way masculinity and wanting/preferring a "masculine man" has a chokehold on men in the community. And, his exasperation over the acronyms. How he identifies is how he identifies. But, don't dismiss everyone else in the community because you don't get it. Yikes!
You make it sounds like it's a choice? Gay men (and women) are naturally attracted to more masculine energy. It's nothing to do with a chokehold.
@@justingutierrez233 For some, I believe it is intentional choice. Yes, some people are organically attracted to masculine energy. But, I feel that it has a lot of folk in a chokehold because they're intentionally choosing it because it's not feminine. I see so many people online and IRL sat they prefer masculine energy and masculine presenting people just because the energy isn't feminine. When I ask why, they can't come up with an answer. Yet, those who are genuinely attracted to masculine energy can easily explain why they like it, how it makes them feel etc.
A death grip around the neck, Okay!!!
It definitely threw me seeing a grown adult in their late 30s saying that the qualities he wants in a man are “masculinity, aggressiveness, and swag”. Not shaming him for liking what he likes but his life mindset is why our community is so backwards. We have our priorities out of order in regards to what we look for in relationships.
@@mauhuff "Threw" you? Why? Why does someone else's preference affect you so? And what does his age have to do with anything? Should people alter what moves them sexually/emotionally as they age? Have you ever been judged about what you prefer?
NO disrespect at all, I'm just naturally curious and inquisitive. I just want to know. Talk to me, Maurice.
I really LOVE this channel only bc I know there isn’t a supportive communicative group for the LGBTQ+ community. Im learning a lot, I’ve learned that there’s a secret group for us that helped me better understand how gay men think. I’ve been rejected too many times ultimately i suffer from depression and low self esteem. This helps me understand myself also to match negative/positive energy gay man throw at me.
This was a great video! And i had to think back to remember if i bit my washcloth back in the day. I think i did! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I can’t wait for the next video!
I definitely bit my washrag as a child😂
This was amazing guys this was awesome. Shout out to Tay I'm definitely feeling when he's coming from I'm just me and I respect the community but I know that I just know that I love me and I know where I used to struggle with and I just love myself and love others of course. This was definitely needed Brothers keep it up hope to see tay again. Thank you guys for creating a space.
These episodes are fire man
Can’t wait for the next and here are topic suggestion which I wish you can touch
-Classism within the gay community
-Acceptance vs tolerance by allies
-Hypersexualism in gayness
-coming-out
-Family planning of gay men
-gay in the corporate world
-Gay in a different continent (it will be nice to have someone virtually)
That last one is definitely a good one, look at gayness in the black communities around the world, especially in Africa and the Caribbean.
when obio asked about the biting of the wash rag as a kid, i first thought “no, who the hell did that?” then i took some time to think about it and i remember that i used to do it when i was littlelr 😭😭😭 random @$$ memory unlocked
What type of feeling does that give? It sounds like a reaction to being nervous or anxiety. I used to play in my ears. Now that’s a feeling!!
I used to play in my ears!! That’s a feeling!!!
@@jamesdrummond8502 i don’t really remember what it felt like it’s been such a long time~~I don’t even know why i did it lol / also omg i used to play with my ears too lol~~it was so funny for me to do as a kid lol~~weirdly enough it got me in trouble in school 😭😭
@@jahkoeb I was a mess in School too. But I won’t go there🤫 Can you tell me your definition of type, in the question what’s your type? I am confused about the word usage. Is it; What you are attracted to? who is attracted to you? or who you end up with? What is type?
LMAO this conversation was hilarious and no biting a wash rag is not weird at all. It's not.
Just here to say you’re not weird. Definitely used to bite the wash rag. You’re spot on!
4:20 about the washcloth thing...memory unlocked Obio. Like, I totally forgot about that. I used to do it (I don't know when) but when I was really young I know that.
I the taste was kinda hard to describe it was pleasant and the sensation of chewing was nice. It kinda got...salty-ish 🤔 idk how to say it, spongy, and really malleable almost.
It sounds gross but it was kinda nice 🤭😶🌫️🤣
I did the washcloth thing as a kid Obio you not alone😭
I totally understand what Tay said about the acronyms. I had no idea about their was a 2. They keep adding to it.
Love the channel and representation! Good episode!
OBJ & Obio are both my type
Next time I’m in Hiram, I would love to chat with you ! My grandmother lives there and I love what you’re doing here .
I know this is old but loved his energy ❤❤😂
I definitely did the biting the wash rag ! 😂
you are a part of the community!
Obio.....NEVER and I mean NEVER have I EVER put my washcloth in my mouth! 🤢🤮😂 Still love you tho! Lol
Another Enlightening Episode!”
As much as I live these discussions, it becomes very disheartening when gay men do not see that they are no different form other queer people. Our struggles are all the same, gay, trans, two-spirtited etc . If you a re unable to see the same value in your humanity in our oppressed people, then what's the point?! I have great gay men that are friends, but the way they other people that are trans, two-spirtited etc warrants a slap in the face. These are the people that make it possible for you to be who you are openly. They suffer the most for your right.
I would agree, we are too busy fighting other people outside of the community that the inside is neglected and suffers.
I'm gay. I'm not LGBTQ+. Just like people can't put everyone in a box, those who are presumably in the box can't force others to say there.
@@xamanbro826 Friend, what is so horrible about being part of the LGBTQ community? Are these people not the ones that be fighting for your legislative and social rights? Internalizes homophobia is a real thing, love. Heal yourself!
@@odilgerald4949 1. There’s nothing wrong with being part of a group, however, you can’t force an individual to be apart of a group.
2. Don’t diagnose me with “internalized homophobia”. You don’t even know me. I’m proud of my sexuality, sweetheart! I don’t need healing. Go somewhere else with your sanctimonious rhetoric!
@Xav Roze EXACTLY! I just said the same thing to another commenter on here that tried to come for my wig, hunty! Just putting me into a category and blaming me for everything that has happened to him (or her, or it, or they) in the past, when this person has never even met me or witnessed the kindness and respect i have bestowed to all people in my life.
I used to run the cool water on the washcloth then suck the water out of it , I know it sound nasty but at the time I didn't know any better ( :
Same!!! It just strengthens the immune system. 😂
@@redd3121 LOL
I dampened mine & froze it. Worked wonders for my nerves.
Not because Obio didn’t share his type with us .. something I’ve been wondering all of eternity 😮💨
He prefer white guys, but he's not laid to talk about it
@Rhamond oh really? I assumed his type was Black men. Interesting...
@@rhamondsantos1858 and you know this for certainly , how 🤔
That wash rag memory on point
Two-spirited??? Now this is the first I've heard of it 😵💫
Honey, I'm old gay (38 y/o). I don't know what half these acronyms mean!! And, quite frankly, I am good with not knowing. What happened to the good ole' days of gay vs straight???
Me too! The next thing you know the acronym for queers will be include every letter in the alphabet!
SWAG.... Secretly We Are Gay. Old Hollywood slang, Langston Hughes. look it up.
Did the wash cloth thing too... just used a fresh one & froze it.
Great video guys
Yes to the house music
Obio you are not alone, I definitely chewed washcloths when I was younger.
But to say that’s what booty tastes like?? Ya lost meh💀💀💀
Obio please do one on "side" the sexual role
Yes!! There are tons of sides out here👍🏿
The wash rag comment lmaoo I used to do that but I had an oral fixation so that’s why I did it.
Oh, I did the wash rag chewing when I was a kid. I was just like a puppy who chewed on most things.
I used to go to the club back in the day, in Richmond VA there weren't many options. But now in my 30s I would rather go out to eat with some friends, have a few drinks and just laugh. I rarely go out to meet people, usually I am out with friends just having a good time. Like Obio, I mostly just chill at the house.
@Gary C I FEEL YOU, bro. As i have gotten older, i just don't have the time or energy to get involved in a bunch of drama anymore. And people, more often than not, bring DRAMA. i have finally reached a place in my life of peace, acceptance of self, acknowledgement and respect for GOD and everything that he has given me and how he has made me. Things have gotten better for me both professionally and financially as i have gotten older and i am not about to compromise that by getting involved in any chaotic or toxic relationships with the next hottest piece of BUSSY that comes along. I too am a more low key, homebody type. My in da club days are definitely in the past
Sammmeeee I️ out grew “clubs” and all that around like 22 lol I️ was over it after that.
"My mama was lilke what they gon' do, cause she bout that life."
I thought I was the only one who did that to their wash rag.lol
Great video
I love him
But all of us struggle as being LGBTQ+ regardless of what the struggle is
You guys are interesting, just came across this now.i am a straight female and I love gay guys,y nt,blessings
How are you defining type? (1)Those who you are attractive to?( 2) Those who are attractive to you? (3) Those who you end up with?
I would never trade being gay for anything but I do understand those people who sprang from families with religious extremists for parents or fathers who were toxically masculine which might make these men wish they were straight. I guess I am lucky I always believed that society's prejudices were nonsense.
Obio you’re not alone I used to bite my washcloth too. Guess we are the weird anomalies.😅
GREAT VIDEO 😊
I used to tear that wash rag up too Obio lmfaoo
Very interesting.
I used to chew my wash rag lol I know what you meant. I also you used to pretend they were mermaids when I took baths as a child.
Lol yup I definitely use to bite my wash cloth! Especially when I had a loose tooth.
😭😭my brother and I both used to bite the corners of the pillow case…He does it till this day😂😂You are the first person other than him that has said the same…THE ONLY PERSON😭😭
Obio you’re not alone in the childhood washcloth thing. I would do that to hold it but not intentionally trying to taste it.
I don’t really be tasting boochie like that tho so I can’t agree with the taste 😂
the fact that i know EXACTLY what biting a washrag tastes like and i dont know how..lol Obio is a fellow weirdo
🔥🔥🔥
I used to do that for sure with the wash rag soaked in water
OMG!!! growing up I always thought I was weird. I had two wash clothes and ALWAYS use to chew on one. Sometimes I would put dove on it and suck it. My mom caught me one time and took me to see a psychologist. They said I had a deficiency because I liked the taste of it. But I just liked how it taste. Idk 🤷♀️ Glad to know I’m not alone…. PS.. years later “my strange addiction” comes out and my mom said she would of put me on there. She scared me sooooooo bad that now I use loofahs or sponge pouf so I don’t get the urge smh🤦🏽♀️.
I bit the rag when I was younger !! I don't know why that was a thing but I did it.
I think I did the wash rag thing as kid now that I think of it. I do know babies do it
Hey Taye!!!
1:25 😂😂😂We love your mama
Next question, what about Monkey Pox? Add that to your list of questions.
That has nothing to do with the lgbtq community, its been proven countless times by researchers that monkeypox is spread through direct contact. Anyone who believes this is some form of hiv or gay cancer needs to step away from science and come back in with clean glasses lol. Monkeypox is spread by direct physical contact, meaning if someone has it and you hug them for too long and your skin touches theirs you can get it.
I definitely bit down on my wash rag as a child lol 😂
have chewed on alot of things in my day but wash cloth no! might try hahah
The guest is out of touch... kinda delusional a lil bit...God Bless Him
I thought it was just me🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾
At first, I thought the guy was Tyler Perry. 😀 😃 😄 😁 😆 😅 😂 🤣
As a kid, I use to drinks the bath water through the towel…I don’t think that’s usual, we’re weird
❤
I use to chew wash rags and the corners of my sleeves lol
I will agree with that wash rag and ass comparison lmaooo
😂😂😂
Same Gender Loving for me.
Yes, i would be straight if i came back out of the wound.
I gotta be on here one day
i chewed my wash rag as a kid 😂😂
I would like to know what is "some type of way"
Yea i bit the rag, the corner
You aren’t weird I definitely did that lol
I did bite my towel when i was younger.......
I bit my wash rag 😫😂
Great to communicate 😘
Is it me or Obio is fine! 🤦🏽♂️🥴 tall and 🍫 how I like them 😜
No joke! 😋
I use to bite my wash rag LMFAOOOOO
✊🏿💯
✌🏾
I bit my wash rag you’re not alone friend
Nobody did that Obio... LOL
I’m sorry but he just comes off as narrow-minded (borderline ignorant). Sadly, I don’t think he’s alone in what he said. It’s just weird (and dangerous) to dismiss the other identities within the Queer community as “made up” by white/non-Black people when there are Black people who exist within all of those identities.
Literally, everytime i hear the arguement that the lgbtq community is made up of white people i just feel so excluded. Like yes they are majority white people but we as minorities within a minority are already so hidden as black people that saying things like that reinforce our double minority status, which makes our issues and qualms seem meaningless to address.
Do you ever do videos with trans women that would be awesome
I think universal the issue at hand is that the gay community has not risen above expectations as alot would think they would.Nobody is really rallying or starting a gay movement for gay people to social etc.Yes places might add saying they are gay friendly, but not enough places to really feel at home with other gay people.
Yea where do you meet other gay people if you are over the bar and club scene?
Well I get your point,
The Social gay apps are so crap that I have given up hope finding true long or even good friends etc
I think it’s pretty prevalent that gay is everywhere & is welcomed
Gay mens’ obsession with masculinity makes my skin crawl. Can we get someone a little more open minded on the show?
Totally AGREE
Idk about obsession. But women and gay men are naturally (biologically) attracted to masculinity. Sorry if that offends but it is what it is.
@@justingutierrez233 Masculinity is a social construct, so you cannot connect it to biology. If you have empirical data to support your assertion please share it.
I agree but that is not UNIVERSAL. That "obsession" is very prevalent in North America and mostly with African American gay men and their perception of what masculinity looks like and should look like. My theory is that slavery and how black men were treated has lots to do with it. But that's a whole deeper conversation.
@@justingutierrez233 girl shut up
That brought back memories. I did bite my wash rag and would suck the water out lmao.
I have bit my wash rag.
Lol I did bite my wash rag a few times when I was younger lol
Never did the wash rag thing smh lol
please bring the microphone closer. Lots of room echo and low volume
Obio no one is doing that to their washcloth lol
These comments suggest otherwise, lol.
@@essbee1641 I am starting to see that 😆
I bit my rag😭
yeah I def used to bite my washcloth. it doesn’t taste like asshole tho, it taste like bathwater and slightly of soap. asshole taste low key like uncooked corn tortillas to me.
Not uncooked corn tortillas 😂😂👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
