Ahead of the Week 7 matchup between the Chicago Bears and Washington Commanders, Colin also takes stock of the rookie QBs and discusses why Williams, Daniels, Box Nix, and Drake Maye are shaping up to be the best QB class in years.

      If you listen to the whole thing, that's pretty much what they say. Anyone who actually cares to have a nuanced take has also landed somewhere around this opinion. @@cuz_i_sedso9574it’s not that much better. Jayden’s average time to throw is 2.6 seconds which is getting the ball out on time. When you do that your line doesn’t have to block as long and they look better. Caleb’s line looks better now because he’s starting to do the same thing more often. The first few games he was playing hero ball, the last two he’s done a much better job of getting the ball out and his line looks much better.
      Caleb is absolutely improved from the quarterback we saw at the beginning of the year. With that being said, it is absolutely true that his offense is loaded with elite players and his defense is top 5. It’s definitely more conducive to rookie qb success than a team that added no new playmakers form a 4 win team the year before.

    I think the point about NFL analytics tending more conservative is the fact that missing a 3 is nowhere near as devastating as an INT in the NFL.
    In baseball, the best guys are out 70% of the time, so it turns out that hitting it really hard for the 30% of the time you do get a hit leads to better outcomes.
    For 3 pointers, the outcome is the same as a miss from 2, and 50% better if you make the shot. So basically you’d have to be 50% worse at shooting 3s than taking a regular FG to make it not worth it. And these guys are really good at hitting 3s.
    But if you take a shot downfield and miss, or worse give the ball away, it’s so much more impactful than in the other sports. Limiting turnovers and taking the high percentage plays seems to be the way to go because the downside for failure is much larger.

    If we could redo the draft, it’s Jaden number one all day because like you said he is a pocket quarterback with the luxury of having an insane run game but when he loses those legs, he’s going to. He’s only getting better by the game as far as a pocket passer and that’s for one reason, his insane work ethic. He’s already making Aaron Rodgers in his prime type throws with with anticipation in only his sixth game. And I still think Kaleb will be a good to great quarterback but anybody who’s watched Jaden this year and wouldn’t take him number one overall is out of their mind. It’s funny this guy mentions how short peoples memories are before the season it was Jaden has no weapons. Jaden has no old line. Kaleb is coming into a situation that no other quarterback has ever come into before with a solid team all the way around him there was not a weak spot on that team yet Jaden is still doing more with less.

    Caleb’s first few games need to be taken in CONTEXT. The Bears O line is okay on paper, when healthy. The entire line was hurt during the preseason. The starters didn’t play with each for more than a handful of snaps during the preseason. They got healthy just before the season started. They have a new Center and the line never had a chance to gel. Right out of the gate, they played the number one defense in the league which has an amazing D line. Our O line was destroyed and the Coordinator did an awful job protecting Caleb. It took three games for line to stabilize and the play calling to gel.
    If you take the last three or even four games, Caleb’s numbers are better. They are both amazing, but I’d rather have Caleb. D Parkins was right in the video. JD’s skill set doesn’t age as well as CW’s skill set. They will both be perennial pro bowlers. It’s too soon to say which one will be “better.” I have a feeling the JD will struggle against the Bear’s secondary. They do crazy coverages and they confuse veteran QBs. I think that their stat lines will be very similiar by the end of the year. I think that Caleb’s number will probably be better.

Caleb and Jayden are clearly proving worthy of being drafted 1 & 2, but we're 6 games in. Let's truly judge it based on what they are doing this time next year. I totally disagree, I think both Jayden and Caleb are great in the pocket…. What makes Jayden so dangerous is his running, he can keep drives alive getting 10-15 yds on scrambling, even as he ages he’ll still be running 4.4-4.5. Caleb’s super power is arm angles and keeping plays alive, but he’s gonna live on the edge of turning the ball over. Jayden hidden super power is his quick decision making and pinpoint accuracy with ball placement and that to me gives him the edge. Both barring injuries will be the next best thing. Also I hate how Maye gets equated to toughness will Jayden has been demolished in college taking harder hits with a slender frame and bounces up.

    "Derrick Rose couldn't shoot" - seriously? Spindly and injury-prone, yeah. A bad shot? Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James averaged 49.3% from 2 and 38.7% from 3. Derrick Rose was at 45.6% and 31.6% respectively. Not as good as these future hall of famers, but that's still in the upper echelon. He was on fire early in his career and it did fall off after the injury bug hit. Still a beast. And yes I'll admit to being unapologetically biased because I'm from Chicago.
    Interesting take on Caleb and Jayden. Most of my fellow (non-Bears) NFC North fans are convinced Daniels is better and Caleb and the offense haven't beaten a good team or even a team with a winning record. I'm reserving judgment. I love Caleb's progress, but as a Bears fan I'm accustomed to things going south right after they start looking promising.

      But this doesn't make sense ...Caleb only trails Jaden by about 50 yds or so and has more touchdowns already.... with a horrible line to start and they played the Texans in his second game before the cream puffs came... anyone who thinks rookie of the Year is already over is really not paying attention, and already has their own bias.... To me the true difference between the two is how they go through reads... Jaden has been super successful because he is literally hitting first and second reads which is why he is able to get rid of the balls so fast, while Caleb (and they show it every week) goes down to his third and fourth then sometimes back to the first read to make his throws... that is a lot of processing and a world of difference between the quarterbacks that won't show up in the stats

    • @cmyskinsfan
      @cmyskinsfan 11 годин тому

      @@robnicefrom3p Caleb goes to his second or third read about 10 times more per 100 pass attempts than Jayden does. That equates to about 3 more attempts a game assuming a 30 throw game. Jayden also has the highest EPA in the league by far when going to his first read, but also the highest epa when going beyond his first read or playing off schedule. Also, the commanders are awesome at running screens and run them more than any other team in football. Since we’re literally only talking a few more attempts a game, the difference in first read percentage is explained there. Jayden is not a one read quarterback, and his progression and recognition skills are actually excellent and that goes beyond after the snap to pre-snap recognition. He understands what the defense is trying to do and knows exactly where to go with the ball, and he is the most effective player in the league getting it there. He understands ball placement and executes it frankly better than any rookie I’ve ever seen. Jayden is winning with his mental game. The idea that he doesn’t do these things and Caleb does shows bias too. Jayden’s just been the more effective quarterback this year and has thrown the ball at an elite level. And he has done this with one playmaker at receiver. Caleb is doing what he’s doing with the best receiving room in the NFL. Not taking away from how he’s looked against the Jags and panthers, but he has the more talented unit by far in every game he plays. Jayden is elevating a cast that won 4 games last year and added no difference makers.
