Thank you sir, your videos are really helpful. Can i suggest next video? Please if you can, please make a video on how to read PTAC schematic/wiring diagrams. Thanks again.
I have a 3-year-old ptac unit (PTH093G35AXXX) in my sunroom. This week is the second time the control board needed to be replaced thanks to storms (even though it was not running). Any suggestions? Nothing of this sort happens to any of my other high-volt appliances (dryer, induction range). Thanks.
So I recently got a ptac that was sitting in storage, never plugged in still in the box. I'm getting 120 v on both line 1 and 2 (my multimeter only test one hot at a time) and I wasn't getting but 10v from each wire from transformer to board. I replaced the transformer and my unit still isn't turning on (yes master switch is on) is my board bad right out of the gate or am I missing something else?
Hey I bought another PTAC cord, but I’m seeing two different kinds that have the same parts number, do they both work on the same unit cuz I think I bought the wrong one 😢
Your videos are great pal, helped me greatly, however I have a question I have 300 units they break down , I have one that's brand new everything works except the cooling fan it has a defendant transformer from all the rest and wiring. Idk what to do. Thanks
I know I’m a year behind but I know you said plug it in which I have a switch at the bottom as a kill switch I’m guessing plug it in the switch on but the board is still of correct?
Hi I'm the electronics bench tech at a casino resort in northern Wisconsin. Our HVAC tech orders and replaces these boards in the heating/cooling unit in our hotel rooms. We have a brand new board that's dead out of the box, but it's been on the shelf for over 6 months and too late to return so I'm trying to fix it. I put 24VAC in, the DC power supply circuits are working with a good solid 5V and 3.3V, the CPU is running and I see waveforms with my scope, and I also see data on the display but it's not lighting up at all. I unsoldered it and tried it in an older PCPCP128 board with a socket and it's good, and also tried the display from that board in the new one just to be sure. About the only thing I can think of is that the programmable processor wasn't programmed or lost its programming. The processor is an AmTel MEGA6403 but my older parts boards have a MEGA325v. Are the 2 interchangeable if I wanted to swap it for troubleshooting? I have a bunch of PCBPC128 older boards that the digital electronics still work on, but they're burned up around the heater relays so I'm hoping to be able to fix the digital section of the new board using parts from these. Also please net me know if there are schematics and/or a service manual available for this board, and if you have any ideas on troubleshooting it. Thanks
Hey man you are awesome i been watching your videos for 2 days trying to fix my unit i was wondering if u carry parts for PTAC and do u have a service number for help thx
Addendum to my prior comment: I got what I believe, as advertised, is a new board (PCBCP150). However, the board still does not turn on. I rechecked the high and low voltage coming in and both are good. What am I missing or do I have another bad board? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
@@cm7838 ok, do you work for a hotel or is this a residential unit? The reason I'm asking is that more than likely you have a bad touch pad, and i was thinking to take it from another unit to test the bad one
It's an attached Sunroom to my home so I have no way of swapping out the touch pads. The only option I see is to purchase one through eBay or is there a way of testing the touch pad? @@PtacSolutions
Mr. Dave I got a situation here with a PTAC Amana a new thermostat new boxes when I turn you unit on it doesn't work with the thermostat but the thermostat is on and the box is blinking like communicating still not working if I put the unit on manual everything works what could that be the board
Hello, Well if you are getting 29 volts and the control board is not coming on, that means that everything is working except the control board. Means that the power cord is letting power into the unit and that the transformer is working as well
29v is 20% more voltage to the unit than the spec of 24v. Inquestion if overvoltage was the cause of the control board failure. I also have to say that removing a ribbon cable by pulling on it is a bad idea. Pry gently under the connector.
@@PtacSolutions oh. Dang I guess its a bad board. This is my second unit. First one did exact same. Board won't light up has no power. Not sure how old it is but the capacitor has 2017 on it.
Thank you 🙏 🙏 🙏 I ordered a new control board from Amazon . It arrived today and I installed it. Works perfectly! Thanks for your help!
U KNOW u are the f-ing man when it comes to ptacs!

Hello
I would recommend to install a surge protector.

Hey Grover
If the unit is brand new you should be covered under warranty... is the unit a Amana?
@@PtacSolutions it's brand new five years ago , no warranty

I’m just trying to have the unit interact with the thermostat instead of manual on the unit itself.
Are you trying to hook it up to a wired thermostat or wireless?
@@PtacSolutions appreciate it brother I actually fixed it the same day, it was a bad board just like you stated.

Hello,
If the unit is less than 5 years old you can the parts from Amana.. they'll need the serial number of the unit

Hello
Would you be able to check how much voltage is coming out of the transformer?
Yes, Its 29 volts@@PtacSolutions

Did you program the unit to work with a wireless thermostat?
If the control board is bad at 29 volts, what should it measure if it is good?

Hey boss. What are the symptom of a bad capacitor?
Symptoms would be compressor making a humming sound on and off trying to start, or not starting at all

Where is your shop located?
How's it going
I'm in Houston TX
How about explaining what part is bad on the board
Hey Andre
Sorry that I'm not sure
What would cause a sudden bad control board? It was working. Last summer now its not and that was 3 months ago
A lot of times is just ware and tear.. how old is the unit?
