It's specifically worth noting that QD-OLED can produce pure "yellow" at 1,500 nits, so in games and movies where they show the sun you're going to get an actual yellow sun shining at 1,500 nits vs. WOLED can only produce a "white" peak highlight.
This goes for all bright colors, QD-OLEDs color luminance is better for all colors and color volume overall is much better. Yellow just gets the closest to white.
Thank you. What are the best settings for the s95d?
I thought the default roll off points for the LG OLED were 70% for 1000, 60% for 4000, and 50% for 10k?
I wonder why the default 4000 nit seems to be corresponding to 10%.
Hey KG Ty for the vid as always. You could get to the 1000,4000,100000 via your remote on gaming mode on consoles/HDR stuff with the 111.3.111 button presses, brings it up that way. On c1/c2/g2/ etc, can probably get it on the G3 as well.
Hey KG! Huge gamer over here, bout to pull the trigger on either A95l, G4, or S95D. My preference is least black crushing as possible, and best image possible. Sold my lg G1, and CX back in the day because of lack of brightness and crushing (especially on the CX). I got addicted to the oled look but the lack of shadow detail and brightness compared to a FALD killed me. Feedback would be much appreciated!
Thanks for sharing
I hope some day you get to talk directly to engineers. Especially with game mode stuff.
According to Rtings the Samsung S95D has an thermal issue and i dont know how they are gonna fix that. Unfortunately, this year no Samsung for me. Because also the matte "Anti glare* which its funny. Matte displays makes more glare on the display than any glossy panel. Gotta say the white on the Samsung always looks red pinky than on the G4.
They said this happened after they blasted a 10% window of pure white at the max brightness (over 1600 fucking nits) for over 2 minutes. That has absolutely nothing to do with real usage.
More glare, but less reflections.
I own an LG OLED it's really not fun to literally stare at your room every time a scene gets dim.
Trying to ignore the room itself being superimposed over your screen. It's a black mirror
Went to the store Samsung S95D matte screen has a glaze over the entire panel in daylight or in a dim room destroying the contrast complete plus it seems its less have detail or sharpness
If impacted by light the way you are saying that is absolutely true, if having it in a room like I do in this video I can't tell there is a different coating you could say its glossy and I would believe you, ive put it up against the S90D and they have the same sharpness, clarity, and sheen look to the image on the screen it doesn't look worse because of the coating unless I have light on it.
It’s really hard to judge the S95D in such an environment. I wish Best Buy would have dark rooms for their premium TVs and set them to their respective accurate modes. That way movie enthusiasts could get a better sense of what they’re buying. Like they used to have with the magnolia sections.
Stores usually have very bright lighting. Not representative of a home environment.
@@Joakim.Bengtsson you still see the frosty hazz from the coating in day light or even if its switched off

G4 all the way. In real life it is even better!
34:38 "What is the G4 doing?"
Read the TFT Central article from April 27 about new HDR testing methodology.
Most displays are cutting mid-grey luminance, meanwhile it's a safe bet the G4 has the least restricitve ABL of any OLED ever made.
2:11:31 Exactly this is a proper ASBL Test thank you so much KG
it's still the 7-minute mark for the ASBL to kick in.
I am disappointed with G4, C9 issue still carried with G4 😢
maybe Sony Bravia 9 is the way to go, I am not buying Samsung no way!
I am hearing a lot of people wanting a Bravia 9 its gonna be interesting to see how it stacks up.
@@TechWithKG bro the x900h with LED is fantastic and X95L miniLED is top notch you can imagine the Sony Bravia 9 no doubt the best.
@@othman0077 I’ve seen it and it’s impressive but things have certainly changed over the years as far as lcd vs OLED, lcd is starting to lose a lot of its advantages, I’m hoping the Bravia 9 can win some of those back though because it was impressive when I saw it as a prototype design at CES.
Why doesn’t anyone talk about gaming on the G3 with FMM+ALLM+HGIG using windows color control app? Seems to be the best combo of color, accuracy, input lag, nearly matching the G4’s native game mode. This saves you some money right by buying the G3.
I personally don’t cover it because it’s a niche tool only a few viewers can utilize and it’s something I couldn’t fully endorse using because using it improperly can negatively impact a display’s life much like changing the wrong thing in a TVs service menu. I also don’t use it myself.
@@TechWithKG that’s doesn’t make any sense because HGIG is dimmer than DTM on which is already an available setting for FMM. If anything, using HGIG in FMM would prolong the TVs life. It also has zero to do with the service menu, since you don’t even access the service menu at all. Don’t spread misinformation, man, you’re better than that!
I’m not trying to spread misinformation, I just misunderstood what you were asking, usually when people talk about color control this changes the displays behavior, I’ve seen it be used to boost settings or disable things that can potentially be harmful for longevity. Again I don’t know much about the app, that’s all that anyone ever brought up about it. I’m not familiar with what you’re referring to m.
@@TechWithKG I understand and there are zero hard feelings. However, I’ve been a loyal subscriber and paying commenter during live streams for years on your channel, and honestly man, I don’t appreciate that you deleted my above comment. You are above that kind of behavior and I know you are better than that.
@@westibbsit’s because the majority will not be using color control app or even know what that is, you have to look at the bigger picture. Less than 5 percent will use the color control app to do that.
Has G4 asbl in gaming mode?
I don't understand..
they all have ASBL in game mode as they are OLED TVs, it appears the G4 triggers faster from the brief tests I have ran, but its not a definitive test so I can't say for sure
I think this QD Oled technology needs more time to develop.
S95D
52.03 No KG. You wouldnt notice it. If you were gaming at 144fps and you had a fps drop to 120fps with VRR you wouldnt notice that.
People dont release how similar 144hz and 120hz are. You need to go much much higher to see a noticeable increase from 120hz cause of the diminishing returns
Can you indepth comparison for g3 v g4 ? Focusing on gaming
I don't have a G3 right now but look at my G4 vs C4 comparison when I focus on game mode thats close to the results youll get albeit a bit brighter on the G3 however it will still lack the color brightness. G4 vs G3 in gaming a pure mismatch G4 is way better in this area.
@@TechWithKG thank you , I visited Samsung experience store and saw s95d and s90d in person. I liked s95d , however in both TVs I observed some noise on screen while playing xbox or playing Amazon prime. Also s90D Ui is laggy. So I am planning to go for LG G Series . Confused between G3 vs G4 because G3 I am getting for 38 to 40% off in offline stores and G4 is not launched in my country. Should I wait for G4 sale if my primary usage is gaming ?
@@TechWithKGcurious about gaming on G4 vs G3 in its non game modes?
Noise is gaming is not something I see in any TV you probably seen the TV in horrible default settings, I’d imagine contrast enhancer on high would create this effect. If going for LG I would definitely wait if gaming is your primary use case yes.
You could use ALLM + mode of your choice on G3 for the best color results . For G4 I can’t find a reason to need to game outside of game mode it’s that good.
KG, why do all the reviewers show the same pictures every year....we need variety same old 4k clips continually....please tell us how the processing is especially from lower resolution 1080p .... please remember variety is the spice of life...
What do you want us to show exactly?
They can't show pretty much anything because of copyright strikes. Thats why u see the same old demos
@@TechWithKGI've just been told it's because of copy right, but it would be informative if you can tell us how good the TVs are upscaling low bit rate 1080p ...
Much appreciated KG....keep up the excellent work
I talk about low bitrate a lot. As far as upscaling everyone has a different opinion about it on what is actually upscaling, some people think of upscaling as just the signal being upscaled and every top end tv on the market does that pretty similarly, some refer to upscaling as handling low bitrate which really isn’t upscaling and Sony is currently doing this the best, with Samsung and Sony being similar almost tied for 2nd place. Third sone think of upscaling as extra edge enhancing noise reduction etc again not technically upscaling just cleaning up a signal, again Sony is the best at this I’d say.
4000 nits video games ?
If you watch normal programs, just buy the cheaper TVs. For me, I only watch movies and gaming, I don't watch regular TV programs. It's always difficult to choose, I don't think the colors are that important. I have my LG G2 on cool and I think the colors are fine and vivid.
definitely the less demanding content you watch the less capable TV you should be going after IMO. Gaming and movies are my main thing too so I always go flagship but thats mainly because I love TV technology.
I bought the G4, as a complete package it is the best choice.
The colors and brightness on the g4 are wayyyy better
Haha dummy people... 🤡
55" Samsung S95C for $1548 Plus Tax New, or 55" S90D Open Box (Screen Protector Still On TV) for $1225 Plus Tax Which One should I Buy? 🤔
S90D
S90D is what I would go with.
Just out of curiosity, not American, how do you know it's QD-OLED not WOLED ? isn't the S90D a lottery, or are all the models QD=OLED at the moment
@@nimblegoat42 48 and 83 are not QD OLED Aas far as I know.
@@TechWithKGeven though the PQ EOTF Tracking on the S95C is almost perfect? 🤔 OK fair enough Samsung S90D here we go
S95D highlights bright colors more in a concentrated area of the screen, G4 picture overall more evenly distributed brightness throughout the picture is kind of what I get from skimming through this
To be blunt. LG OLED has takes steps towards LCD. Not that it can't produce black but how they push the overall brightness up
Woled can't make more brightness, without colour dilution. Mla makes the panel brighter at the cost of colours! It's the price to pay for the white subpixel: More brightness = less colours. Woled panels are reaching the final stretch. On the other hand, the qd-oled era has just begun.
And QD oiled can’t provide darkness without color dilution. All technologies have their strengths. Can you quit the QD oled religion and let LG do their thing?
That's not true. MLA is a lense in front of the pixels. The lense doesn't just boost the white, it boosts every color.
@@paulcox2447 Look at G3 vs G4, it's the same woled panel, same brightness, same MLA. They can't push more brightness, it's woled limitation. Even if they could push more brightness, the colours would look dull and the panel would have a shorter life!
@@iodaddycoollol wait until they fully unleash the MLA. It’s true potential can boost brightness 3000 nits. The upped the color to match G3 brightness boost, and they will do again every time they increase brightness.
If you're thinking of buying either at below 77 inches the real answer is to get the s90c 77 if you have the space 😤
I would say that when the 77 inch S89c goes on sale for $1700, it’s actually the better deal bang for buck.
Way tv's are so dimm
sony A95l beats both of these
Lol g4 smash a95l out
