Bravo!! Great video. We lived in Emporium in the late 50s and early 60s. I remember the parades, the tunnel under the RR tracks by the Sylvania Club, Grimones, the Market Basket, the fantastic hardware store across from the library, fish fry Friday nights at Tony's, Brown Show Store, the guys jumping down from above to do pin-setting at the old bowling alley along the tracks close to Tony's. That pool at the high school was astounding for it's day. There was the annual Sylvania sponsored fishing derby and of course, the thrill when Dad said we're going to get hoagies at Luigi's. UE sponsored our baseball team and thank goodness for that guy who let me help him push his Piper Cub into the hangar at the tiny airport. We used to go across that RR bridge leading over to the airport, drop down atop one of it's the concrete pillars and smoke cigarettes there. I do not believe the temperature of the water at Sizerville Park ever got above 50 degrees and McCrorys had colored pee pees in their window every Easter. One of my fondest memories were the piles and piles of scrap mica behind Sylvania along the creek. Rarely seen or used today, it was used as an insulator in many of their tubes. It was very cool for a 9 year old to carry pocketfulls back to the hose to separate apart. That was only topped by digging for wax in the ground at the old dynamite factory ruins. That stuff was used to seal the sticks and was contaminated with lots of small powder bits in it... when we heated the wax those powder remnants would pop and crackle. Of course we would take a Boy Scout hatchet with us so we could cut then swing on a few "grapevines" while playin' around on South Mountain as well. I still don't know how that library got the papers from the big cities in to read the next day. The Cabin Kitchen had 1940s prices on their menu when we lived there in the 60s and the last time I visited in 2015 it seemed like their menu prices were still from the 1990s. Again, a fantastic video. I even liked the music and wonder what the song is you have starting at the 1:46 point. Thanks for sharing a great effort!! - Ed. Denver
Thank you. The song is Fringed trimmed boots by Bird Creek. You can find it on UA-cam in the audio library. A lot of the places you mention are gone but you would've seen that the last time you were there. We still have Luigi's hoagies. It is a great little town.
Awesome. Thank you for the video. My Dad is from Emporium, and I spent quite a bit of time on the Driftwood branch of the Sinnemahoning! This brings back good memories.
Beautiful town. I live in Hollidaysburg PA 2 hrs away. I love the quaintness of upstate PA. We live in a truly beautiful state. Renovo and Lock Haven are east and St Mary’s is west along rte 120.
Very, very nicely produced video Darrin. My folks live down on South Wood Street and I try to get home as often as I can to visit them. I graduated from CCHS in 1976 with Kevin Gennocro. Thanks again for a wonderful "bird's eye" view of our little town!
I miss my hometown and want to come back sooooo bad
Looks like a nice town!
It is.
Im moving here at the end of the month & this video makes me sooo excited even more
I love Cameron County. I wonder how many deer have been harvested on the hills surrounding Emporium over the last 100 years or so.
I have no idea. I would say a lot but less now then years ago.
Bravo!! Great video.

Great video - I build guitar effects and some of the components (the tubes) were made in the old Sylvania (Philips) factory in Emporium.
I use to drive a truck and delivered here a few times.I came through there when they were filming the movie Unstoppable with Denzel Washington in it.
