Emporium started as a Lumber, Coal, and Steel town that helped build the great cities of Pennsylvania. Originally settled in 1810 the Industry in town helped built many large and historic homes. The town itself sits in a deep valley protected on all sides by hills. The natural beauty of the PA Wilds is something to behold.

I have some fond memories growing up in Emporium. My dad way part owner of the old Morris & Vaughn's Clothing Store across the street from the Bank. I attended the East Ward school, the Elementary School on E. 4th st., the West Ward school & the High School. We live out off Sizerville Rd on Valley View rd. We moved away in 1959 but I still remember it well.

I was born in St Marys, as was a huge amount of my family. My aunt and cousins live in Emporium, and my uncle loved his town with all his heart (Tom Young). My goal is to be able to relocate there. It is the one place on this vast Earth where my soul feels at peace. When people ask me why, I tell them that it's something I just can't explain. You sir, have helped me to explain it. Well done!

This was such a great video! My family hails from Emporium. Shaffer's, Fauver's, Olivett's, with my distant cousins still residing there. Good luck!! I hope you win. I love the Artisan shop and research area you highlighted. Hopefully this summer I will be able to come for a few days. God bless!

Thanks Brian. With the internet & UA-cam, I can visit the town of Emporium that I "grew up in" so to speak. We moved there in 1953 & my dad was a partner in the Morris & Vaughn's men's clothing store on 4th st? next to the intersection of Broad street & across from the bank. I remember coming to town on Friday nights & going to the movies down the street, then meeting my dad at the Warner Hotel to go home. We lived on Sizerville road just above 4 mile across the train tracks. I went to East ward school as well a the school on 4th street, I was baptized at the 1st Methodist church & attended CCHS until moving away in 1960. What great memories from that time in my life. Thanks for sharing.

The best product to come out of Emporium and on to the big cities was back-bone-of-America people. In the late sixties and early seventies, a lot of Emporium's young people went to Penn State University, University of Pittsburgh, Clarion State College and more. They became nurses, teachers, engineers, and pioneers of the computer industry. Also, med techs, social workers, and computer techs. Some went on to work for Fortune 500 companies in the defense industry, telecommunications, petrochemicals, and medicine. One young man even went on to the National Football League.

Good video, the empty lot you showed was from Ostrom's or Ostrum's Hotel, not Warner Hotel which Sheetz now occupies.

@@commanderofthenorth3348 I doubt I had seen any of it, I think I was only in Ostrum's once or twice back in the late 80s I was probably 6 or 7 years old at the time. I just barely remember the old 'Commercial Hotel' building between the old library and the K of C.
