    Science of food preservation revolve around these 5 factors (so far I can think of)
    1. microbes and enzymes
    2. light
    3. oxygen or air
    4. temperature
    5. Water
    Ideally, a food that is dry, super-freezed (prevent ice crystal from destroying texture), vaccuum packed, pasturized, stored in opaque non-reactive container, will last indefinately with tip-top quality.
    Practically, it is how you can contain it from exposure from these 5 elements... and trading off for specific purpose eg: wet food, need to trade off water with addition of sodium, acid, etc....

    Thank you so much for your helpful tips the one through eight steps for example it is very helpful for me being as though I'm very hyperactive and I have ADHD and now I probably say this on so many other videos with having an easy how-to guide since I never learned how to make preservatives I feel like I'm back in the kitchen cooking with my grandmother again yeah it brings me back to those times so it's very happy and pleasant thank you so much for your time hard work and patience and also explaining everything in detail you've really helped me out a lot because I'm using some of the techniques that you have in making like a more of a cannabis product for myself I don't like taking a lot of pain medications and medications. I actually would rather just use cannabis so I'm using some of the double boiling technique that you have on there but everything is very informative so thank you so much God bless have a happy holidays as well and God is good

    • @josephshines3427
      @josephshines3427 3 роки тому +1

      Frustrated with videos that leave out crucial information. Especially ones that are intuitively counterproductive. If the main thing is to keep the food clean and safe then why take the ring which keeps the top on the jar securely?

    • @nikkipurcell9909
      @nikkipurcell9909 3 роки тому

      In the video it said that the ring can store water, which could cause mold or rust. But I'm wondering if you can just remove the ring after they set, wipe dry, and replace the ring. I agree with Joseph....it helps protect the lid from being accidentally opened and the seal being broke.

    • @dancinginabundance
      @dancinginabundance Рік тому

      If the rings are on the jar and for whatever reason (not necessarily your fault, it just happens) the product goes bad the bands hold the lid down and the lid will appear to be sealed. The jar contents are then full of bacteria (botulism) and no longer safe for consumption by humans or animals. If something goes bad you want the lids to "blow" so there is no doubt as to whether the product is dangerous.
