In upcoming videos, we will talk more about the specifics of canning while using some canning recipes. It will be easier to understand while watching vs me just speaking to you.

Many of you have asked what type of canner I use. I use the All American 921 Pressure Canner. Here is my Amazon affiliate link to the canner. Know that I will receive a small commission on anything you buy. Thank you.

I appreciate how you explain things like I’m 7 years old. Great vid and God bless you!
It would be wonderful if 7 year olds would learn. It’s that easy. God bless you too!
I’m watching as many videos as I can to work up the nerve to start canning, but the idea of jars exploding has a strong hold on me 😅🙈😂
Lol!! Unless it’s a faulty jar or you don’t follow directions, that’s a rarity. Just take a deep breath and give it a go. Keep me posted 😉
Have you tried it?
Just follow the recipe and you’ll be fine.
I had my canner for 3 years now, and I’m still so afraid of using it for the same reason. Plus, I have an electric, glass top stove which makes it even scarier. I’m going to give it a try the next time my daughter is in town. 🤞🏽
@@allieprivate4013 I have glasstop too and am leery about it right there with you
I searched UA-cam for “Canning for beginners” and came across your channel. Before the end of your video, I hit like and subscribe. I think you are wonderful, the way you explained in detail about this subject. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! 😊
Aw! Thank you 😊 Glad to have you in my UA-cam family
Me also.
Not only did i find the USDA Guide to Canning, I was able to download PDF Files. Did you know YOU are a treasure?!? Greetings from Toronto.
Yay!! Thank you, sweet friend ☺️
So happy to have found your channel. As a former educator and school principal, let me say you are an amazing teacher! Now that I am retired, I have time to garden and now want to learn how to can. Thank you for your deliberate, step by step instructions.
Thank you 😊 My degree is in Special Education/Elementary Education, with a concentration in English 🤍
I’ve been bopping all over UA-cam looking for THIS video. Thank you so much!
Yaaaaay! Hope it helps ☺️❤️
Thank you so much for the detailed instructions for those of us who are brand new to canning. I should have paid attention to my Mom years ago….as she has passed I am very thankful for teachers like you. New sub :)
Welcome new friend ♥️ I’m here to help
I'm the same. In my old age, I find I'm interested in things I could have cared less about as a young woman. So many regrets. I wish mom was here to teach me.
Exact same scenario with me. I regret not learning how to sew from my Gram and my aunt and my mom. Aunt is still around, but she lives in NC.
I've had all the supplies to start canning for months, but I've been so nervous to try it! Thank you for making it so simple and straight-forward. ❤
Yesss! Go for it! Keep me posted
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOUUUU! This is hands down the BEST for many of us!
Thank you so much 🤍
As someone that has never canned before this video is so educational! Thank you for going into detail on what to do and not to do!
Fantastic overview on getting started. To those that have never canned before, and apparently there are quite a few, these steps you show will really get them going. Things that are just second nature to you, is a brand new world to them. Appreciate you doing this.
Thank you 😊
I have had canning supplies for over a decade. This is the year I'm canning! Thus was a great video for all of us newbies! Thank you!
This is wonderful news!! Plz keep me updated on your progress 🤍
Thank you for your support!
Thank you. Now I WANT to can.
I like the way you teach! I come from a canning family (Kerr's) and you are a awesome teacher!
Thank you 😊
this is exactly the level of detail I needed to help me get started! Thank you!
Please keep making videos. With what's going on right now I'm running a little scared about food shortages and want to start canning immediately. Your simple easy to understand approach is refreshing. I subscribed.
I'm so glad I found this video! I'm just getting started and I appreciate your simple to follow instructions. I'm going to learn along with my mom! Soap making CHECK - Dehydrating CHECK - Garden CHECK. Time to can!
I’m a beginner and this video really helped
Thank you. Never knew USDA had that resource available. Great tips!
😊
Cool . Ty.. im sure looking forward to canning some of my grandmothers recipes ..from the Appalachia mountains back east..
I’m late but thank you sooo much! I’m a city girl and the video reassured me and I can see your passion!
You’re right on time 😉 Thank you
Thank you so much for this video! I’m getting married next month and I really wanted to get into canning but it seemed so intimidating! Can’t wait to continue to learn!
You are so welcome ☺️ I hope I can continue to help you learn.
Welcome to my UA-cam family, friend
Very helpful. Also you are quite savvy in your video production and endorsement by only fully backing the USDA. 10/10. Learned a lot. Thank you.
youre so sweet. im 24 and these crazy times got me wondering how people in the depression lived through it. thank you so much for this video
Thank you 😊 ikr?! Scary 😟
Thank you so much for lifting the vail for us newbies. It has always fascinated me and like so many others I took my Maw Maw for granted and never learned.
It is my first video watching, canning lesson. I will follow the teaching.
You just saved my jars from cracking.....whewwww....thx so much!!
😊😆
Thx again, loved the video, & your person-ality 🥰@@ToniReneeAtHome
Thx again great video ...beautiful person-ality 🥰
Just found your channel today, and I am beyond excited. It was only due to the desire to survive that I began cooking in 2020. I have never enjoyed cooking, and don’t particularly now. However, after learning to make sauces, gravies, etc., from scratch, I can no longer eat the prepared/canned grocery store products, and forget fast food! I had no idea how much better food could taste when prepared at home! 😂 After watching this video, I know you are the perfect teacher for me. So many creators assume one already has knowledge of cooking, and that can lead to many mistakes and much frustration on my part. Thank you for taking the time to give step by step instructions. Suggesting only books you’ve vetted is incredibly responsible and thoughtful of you. I’m looking forward to learning how to can and dehydrate, so I hopefully never again find myself in the position I did during the pandemic.x
You’re my favorite 🤩 😊
@@ToniReneeAtHome 😘
I'm finally on my path to canning and have watched several other videos....HOWEVER, your introduction is the absolute best! Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words 😊
Just about to start our canning journey 🙂 thank you for this video!
♥️
My family is starting a garden, and I needed to know how to store it over the winter. I think it was a great idea of mine to have a garden because I am picky, and I am trying to eat healthier.
Thank you for the comprehensive beginner's guide to canning. While I'm very seasoned with over 40 years, people are always asking for instruction. I will be able give them a good reference without having to keep repeating. Thank you again.
Excellent tutorial! Thank you.
It’s been years since I did any pressure cooker.
I hope you’re inspired to try again 😊
@@ToniReneeAtHome Do you have a list of all that can be Jarred in Glass without Big-Machinery?
@@slevinchannel7589 I don’t, but google does 😆 😊
@@slevinchannel7589 I can’t give you an exhaustive list to your question. It would be a mile long. If you have a specific food in mind, you can google it or look on google to find your answer. I’m not trying to be rude. That’s just a big question for a comment.
Try usda.gov or NCHFP.com. You will find specific answers there.
I can feel your enthusiasm in this. I find it super informative. we are going to start canning, but we do live in an apartment block in London. A lot to learn and think about. Thanks so much for this - it's so useful.
Hi I have a few years experience canning and preserving my food,I really enjoyed watching this video, really nice to get a refresher once in a while.Keep up the education its a lost art
Thank you for saying this.
I think Home Ec should still be taught. Many homemaking skills have been lost 😢
Amazing video! I’ve never canned in my life and I managed to successfully seal a batch of strawberry rhubarb jam. Thank you so much for the help!
LISTEN!! I am a homeschooling mom of 5 and this is gold! Wonderful homeschool knowledge. New subscriber!
Im very young and I still wanna learn bc you never know, when you are in a sticky situation you could never know. I would perfer being young and smart! You just gotta new subscriber!😂❤
😊♥️
Thank - You for this comprehensive beginner's guide ! from CT
I'm so happy I found you! I can't wait to watch further. I needed it broken down simply from the go and I appreciate that you took the time to do that. It tells me that I will love learning from you and that you will do your very best to teach me the right and safe way to can. I have always been affraid to. 1 because of botulism, and 2 because I am affraid of using a pressure canner. I hope you give your opinion of types and brands of pressure canner too. Thank you again!!!
Right with you! I think this lovely lady (Toni Renee) and I are about to become very good friends!
I have wanted to learn how to can for years, but never knew where to start! Every other video or Pinterest post I’ve found is overwhelming for such a newbie like me! The current state of our world has given me the extra push to learn this year 😆 so THANK YOU for posting! Just subscribed to your channel
Awwwww! Thank you 😊 Welcome, new friend
Hi how did your canning go did you start? Please any tips
This is what I needed to get back to canning. Starting from the VERY basics. Thank you!
I have just found you. Your video was great. I very much enjoyed it. I've been canning for a couple of years now, but never did take the time to learn the basics. Thanks! This was great! Catherine near Perth, Ontario.Canada
Thank you so much, friend 😊
I appreciate the way you explained things and went into detail. The best explanation of canning I've seen.
Thank you, sweet friend ♥️
Thank you so much for your videos! I am looking forward to learning how to can!
Your video was great!! Thank you! I wanted to learn canning for food during an emergency. Thank you again.
EXCELLENT TUTORIAL LOVE! ♥ THAN YOU!
I want to start but not with pressure canning. Water bath canning for me is easier. Thank you for your time and help!
You did talk what I want to hear. I subscribe this channel to learn more about caning. Thank you for the video!
God bless you!
😊
As someone just about to get into canning, I appreciate you putting together this video.
From watching a bunch of how-to's now, there's a few very basic points I think should be covered, but please feel free to correct me or elaborate.
▪The importance of pre-sanitizing jars and lids
▪Getting a pressure canner has an advantage, as it can be used as a water bath as well
▪If buying from online used book store, be sure to get the latest revision of the USDA book
I appreciate you explaining step by step with this process❤
Thanks!
You are so sweet 😊 Thank you
You have an excellent and logical teaching style. I really enjoy these type of videos although I would say that here in Scotland the art of canning is virtually unknown apart from those who find it on UA-cam. Jam making is probably as far as it goes but that doesn't really involve any form of canning apart from boiling the fruit down to a concentrate. Many thanks for your work.
Thank you, friend
👋 i hope you're safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness prosperity love and peace ❤️🕊️🕊️ all over the world 🙏🌍❤❤❤
I'm originally from Canada currently living in Key West Florida and you where are you from if i may ask?
Thank you for this! You are amazing
Wow. I love how clear you are about this. Subscribed.
I just got a pressure canner. Binge watching all of your videos!!
Wow! I'm impressed! Thank you!
Thank you. I’m expecting a big harvest this year and this really helped.
Blessings on your harvest 😊
Thanks for this! Ive been deep diving... Both sides of my family came from farms, making/doing everything by hand. Kinda got lost in my parents generation as the big consumerism boom happened. I was born in 84.. my father had a garden we fished and hunted but never preserved anything long term for the seasons.
Looking to bring back the old lost ways! Making your own butter, cheese, jellies, jams, canning, have todays modern tech too with vaccume sealing/chest freezers for meats.
Toni Renee, I think you are an excellent instructor! Thank you!
Well done and thorough! Thank you. Great thoughts on canning books that I haven’t heard before.
I found this wonderfully accessible and I appreciate the detail you went into. Liked!
I’m not actually thinking about starting canning, was just curious about it and watched your video. It is so well explained and to the point yet very informative for a complete beginner. I think I will keep going down this rabbit hole, maybe I’ll even start canning by the end of it 😂 Thank you for the video!! ❤
@@mimi_becky aw! Thanks 😊 If you start canning, come back and let me know. Be careful! It’s addictive 😂
my family has been canning for generations, I have only helped can apple butter we would spending making all day. My grandma still does so I definitely plan on asking her to help and teach me (what I can, will be for her & my grandfather also) she doesn't know she is going to teach me yet! lol. But I am watching your videos to get ideas and kinda learn what I am talking about lol Thank you for your videos!
😊
❤❤❤😊 I love how you are explained the different types of Canning...I'm a new beginner wanting to learn how to can and doing it correctly and safely. I have the pickled brining down. I just need jars, lids and other things to start the process. I already have the veggies growing in tje garden and I don't want anything to go to waste. My grandparents were canners 4 years and I watched them but never remembered actually learning how to do the process. Pressure and water bath Canning. I'm hoping to learn more from ur video's and my granny is going to give me her jars and rings but i need lids , other things I will need to start Canning. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and experience of Canning methods. I enjoyed this video. I'm a new subscriber.
Hello im a stay at home mom of 2 youngs and also pregnant! Ive been wanting to start canning for a while but always been scared!!!!! Im not a confident person and i hate that about myself! I really want to push myself i want my kids to see mommy confident. I think it would be such a cool learning process and also such a good skill to show and pass down to my kiddos ❤
Hey girlie...don't hate anything about yourself. When I was in Grade 8, one of my older sisters had a poster that read "Knowledge is Power". Learn what you can, when you can...then get out there and kick some butt!
Thank you SO SO much for this video. Im looking into supplies and this helped me so much with everything aside from the food! I cant wait to go back and see more of your videos and tips.
You are just adorable!
Thank you for this, I wasn't sure where to start and this is super helpful. :)
You are very kind 😊
Please dont take me for rude. You're information is very descriptive. Great hands on tips. Good job.
Your comment was very rude and why I deleted it

I just wanted to say thank you! Thank you for being so authentic and real in your videos. (Like when you dropped the book) lol You are so genuine, makes me feel like I’m learning from an aunt or a friend.
Because a kitchen with no whoopsies is not a real kitchen.
So thanks again and I can’t wait to watch & learn from more of your videos!! ❤
Thank you 😊
I have never canned before, but I am excited about starting. In the UK or here in Spain we don't have the tradition of canning, but I have always made my own marmalades and jams.
I had no idea about some canning jars not being suitable for pressure canning! Thank you
Yes. Be sure to check
Thank you for explaining carefully and clearly.. 🎉🎉
Thank you I am ready now to start. Hope you do another class bless you

So been stalling forever and thanks to you I was able to push through some fear and now have my first 20 quarts of meat sauce. I waited to be able to buy an all american 921 and only bought ball jars and lids. So.... Thank You
Amazing! I’m so proud of you! You make me want to cry ❤️
Thank you li!e this video for me being a beginner at canning.
Ok you’re good at this. You explain everything.
Wow! So thorough. Thank you so much!!!
Very detailed. Looking forward to all your canning videos. Thank you!
I'm watching so so many videos so many documents bought books n now I'm so overwhelmed. I didn't think it was that difficult. Wish there was a class
It really isn’t hard. I’m so sorry you feel this way. Sometimes, too much information can be overwhelming. I would suggest picking one thing to can and look at the directions on The National Center For Home Food Preservation website for that specific food. If you have any questions after that, please ask.
