If you were running point source speakers and subs, instead of EV50s, would you run separate matrices for the tops and bottoms? Or keep it all together and run into the subs and then jump up to the speakers?
Hi, Im interested in purchase this unit and I’m hesitant because it’s been some time since it was released and I’m worried about how much updates and support will it have for how many years to come. This tells me that they’re still supporting the unit, however, do you think it is still a good purchase in 2024? I’ve seen a newer Allen and Heath option released just 1 year ago, but it doesn’t have real subgroups. So I’m thinking which might be the best option in 2024 and how much life the ui24r has ahead? Thanks in advance!
A very valid concern. I suspect this will be continued to be supported for some time likely longer than the ui12/16. I still think it’s an outstanding value. A&H is a great piece of kit but I also think it’s not as feature rich as the Ui24R.
Valid concern. There's a bug which means that you can't solo a matrix output (you just get silence in the headphones). This bug has been a known issue since 2020, and Soundcraft have still not released a firmware version that fixes this issue. None of the firmware added in the last four years have added any significant functionality.
That's nice but what if the sun's shining and gives you so much glare you can't read the ipad? That's the main concern for me when using a pad rather than tactical controls.

Soundcraft just released another update for the Ui24R this July. I bought mine this July and I believe it will remain updated for quite some time.

Have you ever had any overheating issues with your mixer?
Not yet. And I’ve had this for some years and the Ui16 before that.

I typically find shade to operate under with intense conditions. But the iPad itself has a lot of NITS to overcome bright sunlight.
