Great explanation! Coming from the analog world to digital, I've been struggling to grasp exactly what distinguishes a matrix mix from an aux bus. Finally it makes sense! Thanks so much for the great Video!
Edit: Thanks for this video! You give a great explanation of how to do this. If I wanted to record multi-track to the USB but still have main outs for a PA, would I have to create a matrix for the mix and have that go through the AUX sends to the PA in order to use the master slider for the recording?
So the Master Mtx send point can be set pre or post fader. But isn't the send point post processing - so you can't set a HPF on the master as you suggest without it applying HPF to your subwoofer Mtx send. You would need to route the master either through the spare mtx 9/10 or through the spare channels and a subgroup and apply the HPF there.
Hi This is exactly where I am today, I´ve managed to do the matrix for the subs with low pass filter but unable to do the hi pass filter in the master for the full range speakers. Trying to perform the routing the way you are suggesting isnt the easiest of things...
Problem solved! Don't know which version this happend but now there is pre/post effect processor button on the matrix channel so putting it on pre solved everything. Now I have low pass filter on the matrix sub chanel and hi pass filter on the main master channel and the sound is heavenly good! Love the UI24R!
Thanks for the video. However, consider a scenario where I am running 2 sets of active speakers on the front of the hall and another set of 2 active speakers towards to second half of the hall. I have certain channels on panning. If I were to convert aux 1 and 2 to Matrix 1 and 2 stereo linked, How do I ensure the panning is maintained at the delay speakers?
At 2:52 you use HPF in Master EQ. That is not good in this scenario, because the MTX gets the Master output after the Master EQ, so your subwoofer doesn't get the lows anymore (I tested this). I actually don't know any easily transparent way to do this with Ui24r. AUX output is usable of course, because it is not affected by Master EQ and its usability is enhanced by "Link to Master" where its output volume goes up and down with Master volume, but still when you for example crank up a Bass Guitar channel volume, you must also remember to crank up the AUX send output for that channel.
Been setting up my UI24 for my first show. I am comfortable with and prefer using VCA groups but want to send out a Matrix mix out to the venue's house system for the obvious benefit of a separate output only mix with FX and time delay. I'm unclear or unsure about using both Subgroups and VCAs simultaneously on channels and how it might affect levels on particular channels assigned to both. I see that you can "Exclude from Master" a Sub Group and also "Unlink" the the actual Matrix channel from Master. Do I need to do either or or both so I can have complete and separate control w/out affecting my actual channel levels for my FOH mix?
This looks very impressive. It's a little overwhelming from my perspective where I'd just want to use it as a front end for a DAW and if I were to use it to record a live gig, I wouldn't be the sound guy, ... I'd just take sends from the sound guy or set up my own mics. I would like to record without effects other than what may be used in guitar in bass rigs , which would be recorded straight from the amp speakers. I'd like to see how something like that would work.
You would use in the MATRIX A subgroup, VCA is just controlling levels of others. Or you can return a VCA group via an AUX to a channel and send that channel to another AUX
Hello, Thanks for the video.... I have a question... This Options is only for the Ui24R??? or can I do Matrix, do DAW, multitrack....delays in the outs.... etc.. in the Ui16???
I Buy today a console for me, and the app is different looks why?? My App don't have this House icon in the center , i not can rename my aux 1 like you do it on the video.
To get the House Icon on your slide out panel, Go to Settings > Local > Bigger Slide Out. This will refresh your browser an dthen display the bigger Slide ot panel.

Exellent explanation. Right to the point in 5minutes.
Thanks
I'm using this right away. simple explanation, I love it!
Glad I found this. Coming from UI16 I was using a separate mix to get a mono master feed via an aux channel. Using UI24 matrix it is so easy. :)
Thank you so much my dear brother for good information 😊
Nice explanation 💯
Spot on!
Thx a bunch! Very helpfull!!

All right! so the matrix buss takes audio from other busses before their signal processing?
thanks, I didn't know that, but it makes a lot of sense :)

Hello sir! I love your video💝
I have one question ⁉️
I need to delay speakers Infront of the main speaker. So how to use delay Funtion on UI24?
Sure, delay can be set on any output easily. Just follow the same way I did on the MATRIX output.

You use an AUX send for the Sub. Simple
Any solve mtx for sub for this, i got realize this after buying ui24r and testing it from mtx and from aux its different

Yes, that is exactly correct you can record to DAW or USB stick (or both at the same time) PRE PROCESSING.
Is possible to use sub group and vca in the aux output?
You would use in the MATRIX A subgroup, VCA is just controlling levels of others.

My version doesn’t have the HIgh and Low pass filters on the Matrix graphic eq. How do I fix this,
V2 has if the Matrix is instead of AUX 1 and 2. Next update all outputs will have this (in about 2 weeks)
Thank you very much for the quick reply! I figured that out shortly after posting.

You can certainly go ahead and do this. I cannot myself.
