I have been living in Thailand for 6 years now and have previously worked here. I want to raise one issue regarding private hospitals, which I had to deal with when I worked here. If you go to a private hospital you have to take into account that if the disease or condition is too risky for the hospital to treat, they will not accept you and refer you to a government hospital. In case you end up there in an emergency, the hospital is obliged to stabilize your condition before they can transfer you to a government hospital. Hello Johnny! Just arrived in Hua Hin. This is my second trip back to Thailand, and on a retirement R&D Visit. I have visited a number of Cities, but Hua Hin in a short time is my favorite city. I will be in Hua Hin for a couple days. If there is an opportunity where you are out and can meet you, buy you a beer, and ask a few condo questions , I would greatly appreciate it.
I haven't watched one of your videos for awhile, and I was talking to my girlfriend about how nice Hua Hin is as we plan to visit Thailand early next year, so that made me decide to hop on and come to your channel to see what's been up lately, very nice video, its literally perfect for the type of info I want to show her about Hua Hin.
Got here in Hua Hin Sunday from Krabi Oct. 29. The drive was just under 8hrs in our rental car. Hubby and I absolutely love it here. We have an appointment tomorrow with a realtor to look at a villa located uphill. We looked at an apartment in downtown Hua Hin today called Marvest. It's a new 3 year old complex but a bit pricey. We're leaving on 2nd November, but look forward to come back to Hua Hin in a couple of years. We plan to selling our house but the US economy isn't that great right now - hopefully it'll turn around.
I spent New Year’s Eve 2018 at the village market drinking out the front with a beer tower a very cheap yet great night and many memorable moments with my wife and kids.
Awesome video Jonny,I have been many times to Hua Hin,the first time was with my daughter when she was about 16 years (she’s 41 now) and ever since that time,I just love Hua Hin,so now me and my Thai wife are building a little villa in a place called Nice Breeze 9,it’s about 15 minutes outside Hua Hin closer to the mountains, and late 2024 we will move over there,I just wish that the Swedes money was worth more, but we will see,so maybe one day we “bump” in to you Jonny, cheers from us here in Sweden.
Love this vid mate and loved Ray and Tracey you interviewed! Also love the fact they are living their dream for $US2000 per months and hats off to Tracey for getting braces in retirement! You are def making me think now mate! Would have love to know what pension they are on p.a !!
Ray worked with UPS for many years so his pension actually comes from that. I’m sure if you’re start watching the videos they might disclose more in the coming months. Many thanks for watching.
I vacationed at Hua Hin this April. I started out in Bkk. I said enough of this big city. I wanted to go to beach town. I took the train to Hua Hin and fell for that beach town vibe. I am from Orange county, Ca so I like the beach vibe. If you golf there are a lot of courses in area. I just really liked the people there. They are very accomodating for us farangs. They try hard to be hospitable no matter what. I really enjoyed the seafood at the pier.
I'm very happy Hua Hin has got all this recognition - internationally. More good deals might be found in Jomtien where I would prefer to be ! 🤗 Just a simple relaxed frugal retirement -- a few miles in from the beach where it's cheap - but has a lot of food choices nearby. Close enough to Pattaya -- but w/o all the noise and commotion all the time ? > For me an easier trip to Bangkok - their airport - and occasional trips to Siem Reap or anywhere in S E Asia.
I like how you buzzed around quickly to show all the places. Black Mountain Golf is probably the best course in Thailand. I love how most courses you can play without a membership and at a very low cost compared to others of same quality around the world. I’m just a frequent tourist to this lovely country.
Yes Black Mountains an amazing looking golf course. I like eating at the clubhouse sometimes but I’m not much of a golfer. Maybe that will change in a few years. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
In my opinion it isn't cheap any more, especially in high season. About 4300 Baht greenfee + Caddyfee 350 +tip for the caddy (400) +Cart 700 + taxi + expences for drinks and eating. You can't manage it with the money mentioned in the video. Moreover sometimes the course is very overcrowded (they have about 400 caddys) by big groups may be Koreans and others. The course is fine, but not for playing regularly.....
Thailand's romanization started more than 100 years ago during King Rama VI who was educated in English boarding school for several years when he was till a prince. The system was later standardized by Royal Society of Thailand and all official road signs/places adopt this system. Roman alphabets are not confined only to English/American languages. Almost all European languages adopt Roman alphabets as their main writing system except Greece and Russia. Some non-European countries also do likewise including Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Even though most non-European countries have their own native writing system, they still adopt romanization to help foreigners recognize and pronounce road/place names including Thailand, China (pinyin) and Japan (romaji). Westerners or those who learn English as a second language must accept the fact that those romanized words are not necessarily pronounced like English/American common pronunciation. It is easy to adapt once you know how the native pronounce it. In Thailand, "PH" is pronounced aspirated P (people) and the most well-known is "Phuket" while "P" is pronounced non-aspirated P (papa). "KH" is pronounced like "King" such as "Ramkhamhaeng" while "K" is pronounced like "Gong" such as "Krungthep". "TH" is pronounced aspirated T such as "Take" and the most well-known is "Thai" while T is pronounced non-aspirated T such as "one ton". "CH" is pronounced as "J" (jar) such as Chatuchak. It can also be pronounced as "CH" (chat) such as Chang beer.
There was an idiot Person at that time to start this spelling. Thailand why couldn't it be Tailand? Phuket , why nkt Puket - it is obvious right sound. Suphanbury , why not Supunbury. It is so simple...and correct sound & pronunciation Ramkhamheang - Ramkumheang.- This is how Local Thais say it.
Unfortunately, it was Phibun that changed the way Thai people thought and lived. He changed their lifestyle . What Thailand does NOT do , is teach the correct history.
@@User5467h-4etic I agreed, but in those day it has influenced from India writing style. The King elites used it and become the rule for the people. Until today, many of the old soft heads remain the same, still use it in official language.
@@User5467h-4etic Obviously, that "idiot person" YOU mentioned was way SMARTER THAN YOU AND ME AND MANY PEOPLE HERE. IT'S EASY TO BE IGNORANT, POINT A FINGER, CALL NAMES, AND MAKE YOURSELF LOOK COOL ON SOCIAL MEDIA. You'll have to learn the history of Thailand to fully understand all this. How the Thais write both in Thai and English are very much influenced by Indian culture - Indian writing style as Thai language came from BALI SANSKRIT as @jparsit said below. It makes perfect sense to me.
That is a good video. A comment about prices: Western products (food and goods) are generally cheaper than Canada and only slightly cheaper than the US. For example, coffee is expensive in Thailand. But, Thai food, of course, is a bargain. Rent may, or may not, be cheap depending on your choices. Health care can be expensive for an older person (like me) but packages are available. Dental care is MUCH cheaper than Canada and the US. I live in Thailand for part of the year. With green fees, sailing and entertainment, I don't save a lot of money here; however, I choose to be here for the lifestyle. Of course, the various styles of massage (etc.) are a LOT cheaper in Thailand.
Massages are an important aspect of healthcare and very much underrated by medics, the movement of blood is critical in health and longevity. Keep those massages going!
Hi Sean, hopefully all is going well on the Gold Coast. The cost of living I’m sure would be cheaper than the Gold Coast. I hope it’s giving you a hand to make your decision. Many thanks for watching.
@jonnyasia bloody awesome to get a reply Jonny. The GC is getting a touch expensive. My place is near the Coombabah reserve, near the small airport. You'll know it, I remember the cable sking. Financially and in other areas, Thailand makes a lot of sense. When the time comes, I'll definitely be taking the advice of 3months or so to see how I handle it. Thanks again Jonny

Thank you for your very informative video. While we are ready to make the move from the US, the cost of health insurance for seniors (over 65) seems very prohibitive. We cannot afford to pay 1200 per month or more for insurance. I would like to hear from you and others on how they manage their health insurance. I am so disappointed that we may not be able to live in Thailand.

I retired and live in Bangkok, for anyone under 50 that can't get a retirement visa there is also the Thai Elite Visa option that allows younger people to get into the country to live. They have a 5, 10 and 20 year elite visa option.
Not anymore. They completely messed up this program by cancelling all existing options and creating new types that are outrageously expensive. Google it, it's called now Thai Privilege and there's no even 20 years anymore (invitation only and will probably cost like a gold mountain)
Awesome video Jonny we hope to move to Pran Burri beach area in about 12 months when insurance gets around to fixing our house and then we can sell it!, I have been telling lots of people how good it is in Hua Hin area my wife is Thai and from Bangkok and she wants to move back to Thailand, Im over 60 and being on a pension in Australia these days you barely get enough to survive!
Good luck with the insurance company fixing home I hope it wasn’t damaged too much. Pran Buri is an excellent location. I was actually there last week. Having lunch with friends. They’ve got some amazing café down there now. Good luck with your move.👍😊
I stayed in Phuket for about a month back in 2012. I was seriously (and still am) considering relocating and so spent my time differently than as if on holiday. I looked at property and also spent time in the supermarkets etc. My biggest takeaway was that I would have to, and could quite easily, just change what I ate and drank, based on what was available in this different part of the world. Lets face it, I don't eat tuna steak here at home, because it has to travel some considerable way, and costs per kg, more than chicken or pork, and similar observations can be made in Thailand. Off the menu, would be red wine, cheese, which are expensive, but things like chicken and fish and vegetables etc, are far cheaper. Here in the UK something like fresh salmon or cod, you'd be looking at about £18 to £25 per kg. I saw red snapper fillets at just a few pounds per kg. Likewise chicken breast might be £6 or £7 per kg at least, but as Jonny shows, it is just £1.45 per kg. I certainly had no doubt that I would be eating and drinking differently, but in my mind, living like a king compared to back home, and likely saving a lot of money at the same time, and that was before the bonkers price increases in the last year or so.
I stayed in Phuket for a month and a half last year and fell in love with it. A few months later I moved there. Phuket is a wonderful place for a week, a month, or a few months. It's built as a vacation paradise. However, the second time after about 4-5 months I got bored and went back to Bangkok.
@@dvlarry fair enough, sometimes reality doesn't meet expectations and everyone is looking for something a little different. For me personally, the beaches and jungle and landscape are a big factor, and whilst I might enjoy visiting BKK, I wouldn't want to live there. Been there done that working in London for 3 years. For me, it was good to be able to escape it. Hope life is treating you well.
Nice job Jonny. Back there briefly in December for holiday then April '24 full time Just organizing a place to live but that is not a sweat! That new station has come on some since I was there June - 2 hours to BKK will be magic for me once its rolling...

Many thanks for watching. I appreciate it. Scuba diving isn’t really that big here. You probably find that bigger down south near Phuket, etc. thanks for subscribing.
Great video. I enjoyed this video so much that i like to see a part two of this location and more opinons and words of wisdom from other expats in that location. Thanks again. Keep up the great work. ❤😂🎉
Actually Thailand are changing the laws in relation to expats residency, the taxation is changing to incorporate all residents of the country, irrespective of nationality.
Hey Johnny, I'm actually headed to Panama to check it out this November. Looking into possible retirement down there. Love the video! Keep them coming!
Been looking to move to hua hin for couple years now. Now the Visa costs are going up and this new tax they are talking about is a little scary. Need to pay close attention to the changes.
The tax seems easy to avoid. Spend 5 months in Hua Hin, go to Cambodia for 4 months, and then hit up the Philippines for 3 months. Repeat. Both Cambodia and PH are cheaper to visit than Thailand so in a way, this is also economical.
They are now saying any money brought into thailand could be taxable. If you used your savings to buy a condo they say that money is taxable. Not written in stone yet but this is what they are currently talking about. Retirement visa is ok but they want 100000.00 in the bank right to qualify.?@@davidpattison5860
The taxes should only apply to remote digital workers who reside and do their work in Thailand. There is an attorney in Bangkok that is reporting on the clarifications and he believes retirement funds are exempt as it’s defined.
I live in Canada move to Thailand and believed me lot more boring and expensive in my country ,it is not perfect world but I really enjoy life the only thing missing is the 4 seasons but for the rest ,,,,alleluia
For expats, Bangrunrad and Bangkok Hospitals provide excellent services at international level standard but less cost compared to ones in America, England and Australia. There is no need for prior appointment to see the specialist, just walk in. BTW, it's no longer Tesco-Lotus, just Lotus as Tesco sold all its stake to CP Group about 5 years ago. Originally, CP Group established hypermart Lotus about 3 decades ago and faced financial difficult during Tom Yam Kung meltdown in 1997 and sold majority stake to Tesco. So the brand was renamed Tesco-Lotus. Then about 5 years ago, Tesco faced financial difficulty so it decided to sell its stake back to CP Group and thus CP rebranded back to only Lotus. I think you still got used to the old name Tesco-Lotus as it was very common for 2 decades. However, even when it was Tesco-Lotus, Thais would still call it simply Lotus. Thais have the habit of shortening place name.
We had lunch at that market village, really liked that shopping center, overall although only there for 3 nights we think Hua Hin would be great location for a long stay or retirement

That’s excellent thank you very much for watching. I appreciate it.
Best ambassador for hua hin 💯 brilliant video
Jonny. One of your best. Great work. Much appreciated.
Jonny, you've really stepped up your game in the last few videos that you've produced and published.
Keep up the great informative content!
Thank you Laurie I appreciate it. Many thanks for watching.
Hua Hin is the paradise city for all visitor !!!!
Is it possible to hire a set of clubs ?
@@BoninBrighton Yes it is possible. It’s usually possible throughout Thailand to do so.
Thank you for the Thai lesson😛
There was an idiot Person at that time to start this spelling.
Thailand why couldn't it be Tailand?
Phuket , why nkt Puket - it is obvious right sound.
Suphanbury , why not Supunbury. It is so simple...and correct sound & pronunciation
Ramkhamheang - Ramkumheang.- This is how Local Thais say it.
Very detailed comment. Many thanks for watching.👍😊
Massages are an important aspect of healthcare and very much underrated by medics, the movement of blood is critical in health and longevity. Keep those massages going!
Awesome Jonny, im living on your GC and travel annually to Thailand. Thailand is in my future thoughts. This vlog was all class
Looking forward to buying Several rounds for you my good friend to be! Can’t tell you how much I love your channel. Fabulous everything that you do is wonderful. Keep it up, mate.
Thank you mate I appreciate the kind words, I’m happy to hear you find the videos helpful 🙏😊
I from australia been. 12 years. Love it
Nice to hear David, glad I could be helpful many thanks for watching.
Another Great informative video ....Saw the article in Forbes earlier today ...... Went to Hua Hin last year to check it out based on watching your video & it ticks a lot of boxes.
Will definitely be retiring in Thailand over the next couple of years .... Just wish the AU V's THB was a bit better ....even with that Thailand is exceptional value.
Dale (Perth Western Australia)
Aud- thai baht is slowly getting better just one of those things that you can’t control unfortunately. Glad to hear you enjoyed Hua Hin hope to see you back here soon. Thanks for watching. Have a good weekend.
Probably your best video yet.
Well done.
Thank you Walter. It was lovely seeing you the other day at bluport 👍😊
Been here for two months after five years on the Thai islands. If I’d have known the place was this good I wouldn’t have bothered with those islands. Great video. Very realistic. 😎👍
Love the tour and the interview! 5 stars 👍
Thank you for watching 😊
Thank you for your very informative video. While we are ready to make the move from the US, the cost of health insurance for seniors (over 65) seems very prohibitive. We cannot afford to pay 1200 per month or more for insurance. I would like to hear from you and others on how they manage their health insurance. I am so disappointed that we may not be able to live in Thailand.
" Chasing those cougars you dirty bastard " 😂😂😂 . Tracey looks great for her age , I bet she was a stunner when she was younger. They really are living the dream . 🙏
Tracy looks amazing for her age being 62 I was actually blowen away when she told me. I would’ve guessed early 50s.
The older the berry, the sweeter the juice.
Just subscribed big issues for me is getting the right Visa to live in Thailand I'm liking Hua Hin more from watching videos like yours thank you I'm also from the U.S now retired in Miami
I appreciate you for sharing your experience with people who are retired and living in Hua Hin Thailand.
I wondered where Annie Lennox had gone....
🤭
lol I always thought Tracy look like someone I knew 😂
Great , informative, interesting and well thought out video !
Thanks mate .
Thank you John I’m glad you enjoyed it
❤livin in HuaHin , great for anyone any age ,
Very true can be any age :-) thanks for watching appreciate it
Jonny I see you are doing the consultations for Thailand. I think another great idea as a product for you would be to create a digital product on a big guide for Hua Hin, and almost like a road map for people moving here with info of all the areas and restaurants etc. I think since you are already basically the ambassador of Hua Hin this would do really well.
Excellent cost breakdown for retiring in Hua Hin. Thank you so much!
Good interview, enjoyed it very much.
Hi Jonny, excellent presentation, so looking forward to visiting Hua hin. Tim from Australia
Thanks Tim
Thanks johney another good video.
Cheers Craig many thanks also your order will be leaving early next week hopefully sorry for the hold up . My manufacture guy is waiting on a machine part to come from China 😢
Thank you so much for the golf courses info!! Changes everything!!
No problems my pleasure I might do more of a detailed video in the future on the golf courses available here
I’m 58 years old, and retired, thanks for the tour.
Interesting. I’ve been going back to Thailand for the last 9 years. And coming to Hua Hin in August for 3 weeks.
Great show and content Johnny! Next time I'm in Hua Hin I'll drop u a line! As alway's stay cool, kind and generous!

Very positive those guys. Good look to them.

Thumbs up 👍 Jonny
Thanks for watching
Excellent video, Jonny! Full of very useful information, and a great interview. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! Many thanks for watching
another outstanding video again dude!
Great video and great info. I live in Pattaya and it’s very affordable here also but lot more crazy busy. I am 65 and use bolt taxi to get around or the 10b bus. Big C is way better then Lotus yes lotus is more expensive. I am from the states and have all the sports that I like right in my home. The people are fantastic here also. Easy to get to Bangkok only 1 1/2 hours. Thanks again.
Yeah, I think big C actually cheaper. We have a big C here but it’s actually like a mini bigC so the variety of goods isn’t as good as compared to Tesco. 👍😊
Awesome! You answered most of the questions in one video!
Thank you is there anything else you would have liked me to cover for future videos. Have a great weekend.
Outstanding. Be there soon!!
Thank you William glad you enjoyed it. Many thanks for watching.
Nice! I am retiring in Thailand at 39 in 3 months
That is too young!
Excellent news good luck with your move here. I hope it all goes well.

Johnny I'm so glad you did this video this city.
I've watched your other videos. It references place and it is top place on my list to come visit. I may be visiting within the next short.of time so hopefully I will see you there.😊😊😊😊
That’s great to hear. I look forward to seeing you soon. Have a great weekend.
Thanks for the video. I really appreciate this one. I have been looking at videos for months trying to help me figure out make up my mind on where I want to move to. HauHin was the leader of the cities that I was looking at but after hearing from your sub’s and how safe and quiet it is there I think I might have made up my mind.
Thanks a lot.

Jonny left you a message below, would appreciate your reply, also how does the Visa stand if I want to live in Hua Hin - I have heard very technical
Hi John, my apologies for missing your last message regarding visa. There are many UA-cam videos covering this topic; it just depends on what visa you are looking for. For yourself, I am guessing retirement. I actually did a part 2 of this video covering visas, etc. If you go to timestamp 00:06:02, you will get more information regarding visa agents, etc. Please find attached link [ua-cam.com/video/hXY1U-G093o/v-deo.htmlsi=7JmP8QJvHnbgCqkQ]. Thank you very much for watching, and I hope all is well and good in Tweed Heads. Regards Jonny
Google it, it's called now Thai Privilege and there's no even 20 years anymore (invitation only and will probably cost like a gold mountain)
heard is very expensive to obtain, but if you are very wealthy, im sure its worth it.
Great video Jonny! Thailand definitely ticks all the boxes. All the best to you and your family mate.
I enjoyed watching you Johnny - I just connected to Third Thai's Charm I will watch it next. All Good I stayed at Centara Resort Hua Hin 4 years ago.
Yeah the cost of living is skyrocketing, thanks for watching 👍😊
@@jonnyasia no worries. Have a great weekend.
@4:37 no Atlantic farmed salmon thnx! (P.s. appreciate you posting in Cdn dollars too) Cheers
Back there briefly in December for holiday then April '24 full time
Just organizing a place to live but that is not a sweat!
That new station has come on some since I was there June - 2 hours to BKK will be magic for me once its rolling...
Thank you yeah the train station is really taken shape over the last couple of months they saying two hours of 2 1/2 hours. It be interesting once it’s up and going many. Thanks for watching. Have a good weekend.
Like everybody else has said, the quality is top notch and I’ve subscribed. How is the scuba diving?
Many thanks for watching. I appreciate it. Scuba diving isn’t really that big here. You probably find that bigger down south near Phuket, etc. thanks for subscribing.
Hi there, thank you for your videos on Hua Hin. Is there any air polution in Hua Hin during the crop burning season from Feb to Apr each year?
Great video! Great information!
Thanks for watching much appreciated
Great video. I enjoyed this video so much that i like to see a part two of this location and more opinons and words of wisdom from other expats in that location. Thanks again. Keep up the great work. ❤😂🎉

Incredible!!! I will book your consultation next week!👍👍👍
Yes, I’ve heard Panama has been quite popular with ex-pats relocating there recently. I hope you enjoy it and good luck with the move.👍😊
@thomasrush
Hi there
Retirement visa is 1900 baht per year , if your living on savings there’s no tax to pay ,
Regards Davy
They are now saying any money brought into thailand could be taxable. If you used your savings to buy a condo they say that money is taxable. Not written in stone yet but this is what they are currently talking about. Retirement visa is ok but they want 100000.00 in the bank right to qualify.?@@davidpattison5860
The taxes should only apply to remote digital workers who reside and do their work in Thailand. There is an attorney in Bangkok that is reporting on the clarifications and he believes retirement funds are exempt as it’s defined.
Just keep most in a foreign bank and use an atm … problem solved guy…
Going back in February can’t wait 😁
I live in Canada move to Thailand and believed me lot more boring and expensive in my country ,it is not perfect world but I really enjoy life the only thing missing is the 4 seasons but for the rest ,,,,alleluia
Johny you keep doing what your doing the blogs are good and top quality mean that great stuff
I love the videos with all the girls in but i also like these one aswell. Nice work.
Thank you glad you enjoyed it. Have a great weekend.
That’s my favorite place Huahin.
Thanks for watching 👍😊
We had lunch at that market village, really liked that shopping center, overall although only there for 3 nights we think Hua Hin would be great location for a long stay or retirement
